I absolutely love your channel! I have enjoyed all of the history lessons. As a guy that lived through the monster receiver wars, I enjoy 70s gear the most and the old ads are awesome! Looking forward to 2025. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Scott and also to your subs! Thanks for all the hard work and dedication needed to make a great channel like this! Hope this year brings you many awesome surprises, so you can share them with us!, LOL Cheers Dan!
Really enjoyed this one Scott! Looking forward to more terrific videos in the New Year. Interviews with those in the industry of the past sounds great.
What a great summary of all your videos this year, there's a few that I'll be revisiting. Looking forward to watching your videos in 2025, and growing my knowledge of all the glorious equipment you show us. Wishing you Scott, and your family a very happy and prosperous New Year!👍🏻🎵🎶
It’s funny everyone hates the 80s blackface era but it’s nostalgic to me. I was born in 83 and a JVC black tower cabinet is what my dad had and passed down to me when I turned 10 in 1993 and got me a Sega CD, my very first music player. Also remember my mom showing me how to handle your CDs responsibly and not chuck them around like so many young people did my age.
I really appreciate the blast from the past videos you do. At times you feature something that was a teenage fantasy to some. I wanted KLH Barons, Koss CM 1030, Infinity Quantum Line Source, Pioneer HPM 200 because of a magazine review, (at least until I heard the sound of the HPM 100). I realized then that colored nasal sound wasn't for me. I also dreamed of owning speakers that a theatre used. Never could find out which ones they used. Also dreamed of the speakers Laserium used. Found out they were JBLs; 38 of them all playing at the same time. The fantasy is long faded. I never owned any of them. I made only one bad speaker purchase, and except for its Asian coloration it was not bad, and I' have owned many speakers. I was lucky and researching helped. Happy New Year!
Another great video Scott but surprisingly you don’t have any Phase Lanier, which I thought dominated the early 70s to mid 70s. Keep up the great work.
So you answer the question I’ve had for a long time and I kind of feel like an idiot. I didn’t realize I needed to run a ground wire for my preamp to my receiver in addition, but it makes sense because that one’s running on a DC power brick with no ground
You are absolutely right I have the best pics of each period allowing me to have top notch hi-fi system. Some are young timers but by example my amp has doubled of value in more then 10 years of joy of use
I enjoyed your channel, the ADS L710, L810. Saying that, have you reviewed B/O Beovox S45-2 or the S70's. Would be interested how they stack up to some of your reference gear. Thanks
I have owned some B&O gear in the past, but by the time I started the channel, I had passed them on to others. While I like B&O, I do not like that it typically requires some special connectors to integrate the gear into non-B&O systems. I would love the hear a set of Pentas.
One could argue the Marantz 2600 was top dog due to it being the only one rated at 4 ohms, 400wpc. Stereo Review September 1978 pg 66 has the Technics SA-1000 advertised.
Yes, advertising may have started in late '78 to start drumming up interest, but in the annual Stereo Review Buying guide for '78, only the prior model line is denoted as being available for sale. It was not until '79 that they denoted a SA-1000 for sale and this is also what the Orion Blue Book states as well.
Yes, I have seen almost all your videos. They are very impressive. But I have to say that your comment on not having any room treatment is very mislead if that is what you were referring about a dedicated listen room ? Havimg an echoing room can sound horrible. Or maybe I misunderstood you ? Happy New Year
Hey Robert, thanks for watching. Not sure the reference to be honest as I DO think room treatments are important for good sound. An echoing room would be unbearable, I agree.

So much cool gear over the decades and so much MORE to feature! Stay tuned and Happy New Year!

I had a few pieces years ago, but moved them on at that time as I did not have my current space.
