So you will never know until you take it home and power on to see.Although some shops may let you know before you buy some expensive ones from them. I personally trust ? or rely on to online shops like Merucari, and because their pricing and also the quality of those goods being sold are relatively secured with return policy and those buy-and -sell communications between the two so called haggling or things like that. Some tips being said, as a conclusion to say is that visiting any of those Hard Off is fun and exiting to see before you would buy something like Audio equipments or Digital cameras. And if you have enough time in Japan to stay, Hard off offers some on line shopping sites in Japan, if you are curious about it.

This type of store is a treat for fans, where they can freely choose the audio equipment and others they once dreamed of. That JBL 4311 which is pro use of JBL L100 century speaker, at 4:33, price of whopping 880,000 Yen is about 880,000/157 = $5,605 U.S. dollars. If I paid that much for 4311 there, I can buy the same one in the U.S. for about $500.00 each, so I can buy more than 10! This is not just this store but most stores in Japan importing foreign stereo equipments will charge very high. I used to live in Japan back in 1950s and 60s and it was the same story, especially any U.S. made items were very expensive. They charge import tax very high, plus the middle man. It's worse now because the dollar to yen exchange rate is about 157 Yen to dollar, before was 360 yen to dollar for many years. This is why always do the shopping before purchasing anything.
I bought a set of L100s in 1996 from a starvation army thrift store for $35 with a mid grade kenwood receiver. I sold them about 12 years ago for $300.

One thing that Japan have is the gear is in great shape like new for the years they came out but prices also high... It's Nice to see these hifi gear stores in Japan too bad here where i live they are all gone and now ONLY new stuff with absurd prices so i still prefer the old vintage gear.
Pretty Vintage, in my country these are usually found seated wasting away with importers of secondhand cars and equipment. They've lost popularity due to age and incompatibilities with new systems, most don't have bluetooth or wireless connectivity options..They're great brands but now obsolete. What made matters worse is the non global friendly 110V voltage with most of Japanese tech.which is not supported globally
High or low is subjective depending on location, income, preferences, supply, condition etc. and if people are buying then it means it’s worth for them and I’m not here to judge. I am happy for those who can purchase and enjoy them.

While you were in Japan... did you happen to see any Nakamichi equipment? They stopped selling in the U.S. and Canada... but were huge in their day. Maybe they are selling new there still?
I don’t recall seeing Nakamichi items. The Dragon tale deck is an absolute legend
Certainly not giving anything away, That Linn table is showing $2,300 US.
That’s not cheap, seen them cheaper here in Canada 🇨🇦
Great video for us audio junkies. 🤗
Thanks for sharing this info and subscribing to my channel 👍🏼
Heaven on Earth
Absolutely! Thanks for subscribing ❤️
Could you please let’s us know where and how to get there from US which way for the trip less of money
I’m not sure what’s the best airlines for you but closest big city is Tokyo and you take a 40 min train to Kochijoji station.
Nice 👍
Thank you for being a subscriber
Do they have Yamaha aventage rxa 3080??
I didn’t happen to see this model when I was there.
Video was a little fast, but thanks for posting
I only had two hours stop at the store and couldn’t spend more time there. Try to adjust the TH-cam speed or pause / zoom if you want a close up. Appreciate your comment and support 👍🏼
also FYNE AUDIO speaker makers, are the people that used to work at TANNOY before TANNOY went bust, so they got together to make their own company, thats why they look like TANNOYS. very good quality indeed. 🙂
Yes you are correct. They sound great too 👍
omg extreme expensive
The prices you mention are rediculous : 22:16 min you say this cassettedeck is 4000 usd , and it is actual 334 usd .
Thanks for highlighting, it’s my mental math error. Pls refer to the prices listed and calculate to your own currency.
That's Japan , the homeland of those devices and the prices are very expensive , interesting ... 🤔
Domestic brands tend to be cheaper but vintage gear is really subjective
@@Hifihobby Sure, but it doesn't make any sense to me. All Japanese vintage hi-fi devices are much cheaper, especially in North America. So it's true that Japanese equipment is expensive in Japan . Then there is no need to go to the motherland to buy a vintage device ...
Most of the equipment in this store has been cleaned and dialed in. Those are technicians working in the back and most of the inventory come with a warranty. It’s almost like a museum in there but you can purchase everything.
@@yokosomike Yes, if the devices are trouble-free and well maintained, prices can be high ...
I live in Japan, so if I list my items on eBay, will you guys buy them?
I would say give it a try
Any PIONEER SX 5570 BLACK /SILVER STEREO AMPLI,?!!
Please check with the store for latest availability as items come and go
If you get a chance go back to level two of the music gear I would be glad to help you make money here in USA back and forth with gear
Appreciate the offer but I won’t have time as I have my full time job going on.
Heaven!!!!!🤝🤝🤝🤝😁😁😁😁😁💿💿💿🔈🔉🔉🔊🔊🎇🎇🎆🎆
It was definitely awesome and glad I could share with you guys
@@Hifihobby Dzięki wielkie!!!! Pozdrowienia z Polski 🇵🇱 i Szczęśliwego Nowego Roku!!!!🤝🤝🤝😁😁😁😁💿💿💿🔈🔉🔊
Happy New Year to you too!
All these vintage hifi gear fetching top prices. If you ever bothered to listen to these gears, most sound like trash or average at best. There are very rare gems though.
There are lots of fans of vintage hifi gear, and they enjoy the looks as well as sound. Its different from today’s gear
I’ve owned a lot of Japanese receivers back in the day. Most are just for show.
No casette tape walkman??
Very rare to find cassette Walkman these days.
❤❤❤
Thanks for subscribing 👍🏼
Do you have national rx-xe570f
I didn’t see it but you may wish to contact the store directly to check
Can I get good VCRs also?
There were VCRs in Level 1, the end part of the video
A nice kringloop winkel
Yes it is. Thanks for subscribing to my channel 👍🏼
so hows the price negotiating culture there in second hand shops?. is the price fixed or you able to make an offer without offending anyone? I understand thats a bigger business in this video , I am just asking in general around pricing ...
@yokosomike maybe you can advise? Based on my experience there is very little room for negotiation but there’s the 10% tax rebate for foreigners
Wow, everything in that store was insanely overpriced compared to buying in the US. A Garrard 401 turntable over here is AT LEAST $2000 cheaper than the one shown early in the video.
Yet I thought some of the big JBL's Altec's or Quad esl to be reasonably priced.
The Sony ES Tapedecks are also insanely expensive. Here in Europe you get them much cheaper
Thanks for sharing
Un negozio così in Italia è un sogno
It’s heaven for tech geeks
Alot of good stuff..but price isnt usual bookoff price. Primium pricing
Hopefully the prices can come down soon
i can't take it. one single store and you've got a tc-ka3es, ka5es, and ka7es. as well a handful of tdk ma-x, and as well a pair of sony ss-g7, and on top of all of that a cdp-555esD right next to cdp/das-r1 (or maybe r10) combo. i just can't take it. one single store. all i want is for a pair of ss-g5x to show up on ebay one time in my life and they are probably in this store too. japan is a total treasure trove.
I found hifi heaven and shared with you guys 😄
Your so late everyone video watching like 25 years late I’ve done this wayyyy back welcome to Japan sightsnsounds newbie !
Well, better late than never right? 😅
I love the name 😆😅🤣
😅
😮Very expensive!
Roger that. Thanks for the comment
Japanese culture in taking care of their purchases help the used industry
Definitely. But do watch out for sets that have smoke stains tho
Sad that works only on 100v😢
You can of course use a step down transformer, one of my videos I show where you can buy the made in Japan good quality ones in Akihabara
@Hifihobby yes it's possible. but why such fun when there is so much equipment on the market
Manu pour le fun, on voit tes Altec dans la vidéo 😊

Oh! At 27:09 there is a 47 Labs Arare amp above that Sony you were playing with. I want it.
That’s a unique piece. Why this amp over the others?
@@Hifihobby 47 Labs is a kind of Japanese boutique audio manufacturer. They have good reviews for nice sounding equipment. This is one of their newer offerings. I like the look of it. It is a D amp. I have never seen or read of any reviews for it.
Thanks for sharing this gem
@@Hifihobby You're welcome. You should go back a listen to it and tell me what you think. lol.
I've been to Japan twice. Nagoya and Tokyo. Both times to go CD bootleg shopping. That was back in the early 2000's. I collect Led Zeppelin Live recordings. The Japanese makes some great bootlegs. The main area for bootlegs is in Shinjuku.
At 31:21 you passed right buy some very famous Yamaha Speakers! Couldn't see the price!
I paused the video and saw that it’s ¥165,000.
@Hifihobby good price around 1100 US
you must be so proud of yourself now...
Hi. May I know what you are referring to ?
Please songs name
Which songs are you referring to? I’ve had to mute most of background music because of TH-cam restrictions
Thank goodness it's names Hard Off and not On. That could get awkward.
😅
How the funk can a music shop have no music on lol
It had nice music playing but I had to remove it due to TH-cam copyright block
Adress ,please
Thanks for subscribing. Address is in the video description.
about knob, i dont know other people, but i always like those old or vintage hifi gear knob, i dont why even those black plastic knob like this one 27:57 still looks very cool, not simple round knob, some looks like cup cake and flowers knob, you cant find those knob in modern hifi gear, only on guitar amplifier, and my favor is witch hat knob with number on it , usually found on 70s old radio or military type of radio , im like knobs, dont judge me, im sorry but im really like knobs and switchs, not so much about button though, but i absolutely hate new car they put all the buttons into touchscreen ,fcking stupid and danger, sorry for poor english and my rants. knob knob!
I perfectly understand, that’s why I couldn’t resist touching those switches and knobs 😅 Lovely solid feel and looks.
Why don’t you put your address at all so that people can find it easily?
Done!
One thing that Japan have is the gear is in great shape like new for the years they came out but prices also high... It's Nice to see these hifi gear stores in Japan too bad here where i live they are all gone and now ONLY new stuff with absurd prices so i still prefer the old vintage gear.
Yes they take care of the equipment and it’s also serviced before sold in the store
the only Point for me now as i grow old is give me those fckin lows plenty of mid and a bit of high. then ill cash that in.
😆
Pretty Vintage, in my country these are usually found seated wasting away with importers of secondhand cars and equipment. They've lost popularity due to age and incompatibilities with new systems, most don't have bluetooth or wireless connectivity options..They're great brands but now obsolete. What made matters worse is the non global friendly 110V voltage with most of Japanese tech.which is not supported globally
Thanks for sharing. Which country are you from ?
Nice 👍🏻 may I have address of this shop in Tokyo ? 🙏
Hi you can search under Hard Off Kochijoji
@ thanks 🙏
The prices are very high. Is it worth buying for Japanese people?
High or low is subjective depending on location, income, preferences, supply, condition etc. and if people are buying then it means it’s worth for them and I’m not here to judge. I am happy for those who can purchase and enjoy them.
I did not see any AKAI. I did see a NEC AVR series amp without the faceplate. But Watching your video makes me literally nauseous. If your going to twirl the camera around that quick as you do throughout this video, you need to bump up to 60 FPS. oh. I feel sick.
But above all; THANKS for the tour...
Thanks for the feedback. Will work on the panning
Find another shop in Osaka and compare the price.
Prices are very subjective for used gear but there’s definitely more variety in Tokyo area. Share any good deals that you find there
🤯
Like the video? 😁
110V power transformer needed
no, not for me
Thanks for watching. Do check out my other videos 👍
Beware most Japanese vintage equipment works only on 100 VAC.
That’s correct. You will need to get a step down transformer to use the electronics in other court tries, you can buy good quality made in Japan transformers from Akihabara (featured in one of my videos)
@Hifihobby ... some equipment will not accept a step down alone. Added, some early Japanese made are 50 or 60 Hz line frequency. Not both.
Good point, please check compatibility before purchasing ☝️
Unfortunately I didn’t like your pricing
Hi thanks for your comment but it’s not my store and I don’t determine the price
50,000 Yen is only £263
I overestimated my mental ability to video and perform multi currency conversion. 🤦♂️
can you bargain or dicker here...?
Usually no bargaining culture in Japan but I didn’t ask this store
Hard off! Sounds rude 😂😂
It’s kinda funny and gets to the point at the same time 😅
Jeez, everything seems really overpriced to me.
