Nice reaction🙂! Please Don't Go Girl was the first release from New Kids On The Block's second album- Hangin' Tough (1988). The lead vocals were sung by Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight & spoken part by Danny Wood but the majority of the lyrics were sung by Joey McIntyre. It was written & produced by Maurice Starr. It also became the group's first commercial hit reaching #10 on the Hot 100. NKOTB still perform live concerts in 2022.
NKOTB is Jonathan Knight, Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood. They are from Boston & were created by Maurice Starr after New Edition left his record label. Mark Wahlberg & Jamie Kelly are both original members of the group but left the group before they signed their record deal. Originally the group was called Nynuk (pronounced na-nook).
NKOTB performed with New Edition at the 2021 AMAs in The Battle Of Boston. While the two groups have collaborated in the past on a 2008 song called "Full Service" they'd never before performed live together.
The groups each performed a medley of their greatest hits, which NKOTB kicked off by singing "You Got It (The Right Stuff)". New Edition then took the stage to sing "Candy Girl". The two groups then took turns on the stage with NKOTB singing hits including "Step By Step" & "Hangin' Tough".
New Edition performed "Mr Telephone Man" & "Can You Stand The Rain." Then both Ralph Tresvant & Joey McIntyer took turns singing lines from "Is This The End" & "Please Don't Go Girl", respectively.
To wrap things up, New Edition sang "If This Isn't Love" while NKOTB joined them for a dance routine involving both bands.

However, the group's official website promotes another video that seems to have been recorded around the same time the other video was. This second video was shot in various places around Boston, including the Ruggles T station.

Changing history are we? New Edition, anyone? Maurice Starr lost New Edition then went out and created NKOTB. NKOTB was based on New Edition and New Edition was in large part based on The Jackson 5. Going back even further what about Frankie Lymon And The Teenagers from the 1950s?

@@charlesxavier5681 Fair enough 🤝. But New Edition was a Pop group as well as being an R&B group. As BBD said: Hip Hop smoothed out on the R&B tip with a Pop feel appeal to it.
