About 6 years ago I picked up my needles again after a 20-year hiatus. About the same time I also discovered the world of today’s gorgeous yarns. A friend was pregnant and I wanted to make a spectacular baby blanket that would become an heirloom. The problem was that nobody I knew Knit, so my skills never advanced beyond beginning intermediate. Long story short, I stumbled across Suzanne’s TH-cam channel. These videos gave me the courage to try new techniques and projects. With the guidance of these fabulous videos, that baby blanket turned out better than ever imagined. It was followed by a baby sweater, something I never thought possible. And then came socks and hats. These videos not only made me a better knitter, they have changed my life as a knitter. If something is wonky, Suzanne has a video that helps figure out the problem and correct it. Thank you Suzanne, from the bottom of my heart for all your hard work and for sharing your knowledge.
Susan, yes, you are a master knitter. I love the way you teach. You have your symbols showing what each type of stitch means. As you knit, you show how that stitch is done. Not a lot of nonsense talking only what makes it clearer to understand. Your video is clear and close enough. I downloaded the pattern from your site too. Thank you, thank you. My name is Gulten and I live in Arizona. (originally, I am Turkish)
Hi Suzanne, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate all your videos, I have been knitting Chloe’s colour work scarf and love learning all the techniques you explain so well, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
I have taken up knitting at age 70, and I would never have been able to advance as I have without your video tutorials. The night lighting is adequate. Please take time for yourself with the cup of coffee or other pleasantries, and know that we appreciate everything you share with us.
Suzanne, thank you so much for the time and details you give - even showing the two styles of knitting. You are an amazing teacher - thanks for helping me to understand completely!
Thank you 💕 when I have any doubts regarding knitting I only need to watch your videos and problem solved!!! You are a very good instructor. Blessings!!
Hi Suzanne: You are a superstar video instructor! Please, please, please make a video series on 2-color Brioche in the round, from cast on, setup, knitting the rounds, finishing off, etc. There are so many knitters that want to be successful with this method. Currently, there are only a few videos available. Thank you for all that you do for us!
That is on my todo list. I wish I had more hours in the day.! Happy knitting. If you are a subscriber to my channel, when the videos come out, you will get a notice.
I just bought this “pattern.” I have never paid so much for a single (digital) pattern. However, it’s not a single pattern! Holy crow, it’s a 44 page book. This is fantastic. Well done! I won’t have time this year, but I know what next year’s Christmas present will be for a few folks.
Yep, and I have another one on Lace that is the same way. It is a book too. I am currently just starting another "book" on how to knit a top down Raglan sweater with a shawl collar and knit in pockets - of your own design. It can be found at www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/it-takes-a-guild-cardigan-tutorial. Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Hugs and Happy Knitting.
Thank you! I hope you have chosen to subscribe to my channel and that you will share my videos on your social media groups such as FB, Ravelry, Pinterest, Reddit, etc. Happy knitting, Suzanne.
I have just found. Wow! You are an amazing patient tutor. Thank you Suzanne for being so clear and precise in the language you use to encourage all abilities. Looking forward to increasing my abilities in learning these new, to me, stitch knitting techniques and your other instructional video. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with tutee. God bless.
Thank you so much for sharing. I wish I had watched this video when I was trying to figure out how to brioche continental. You definitely have some of the best explained videos I have ever seen!
I had always been curious about brioche. This video is very well done, as are all your videos. If I ever decide to tackle brioche, I know who my teacher will be! I’ll also make sure to share your videos! Thanks!
Great job teaching, as always. I particularly liked your way of identifying which was the light and which with the dark side. I made the wrong guess when you asked! I also appreciated your discussion of how to maintain a tidy edge.
Hi Savanna , first I’ve have learn how to brioche thanks to you and I love it , I’ve made so many mistakes learning , that I’ve learned how to frog a couple or more rows and placing it back on my needles . I know and watch how to fix but sometimes I try doing other thing with the brioche and don’t like it so I frog it back , Now I’m looking how to increase and decrease patterns like the one you are using but in single brioche .
The knitting gods must be looking down on me today! I just downloaded this sampler for free thanks to your gift!! I'm hoping to work Sampler #5 design in a kufer hat for my son... YIKES!!! Lol First I have to teach myself the terminology and your techniques. You are truly a treasure!
Trank you so much for charing this tutorial, it helped me finely to understand this amazing technic! I am always struggling with the edges and I try to make it look as need as possible, will send you a picture from my work ...
Your videos are such a huge help! To learn brioche, I have been trying to knit along with you stitch by stitch. You are so fast especially when you are using continental knitting. If there is a way to slow the video that would be great. Can you please make a video on how to knit 2-color brioche in the round using circular needles. Thanks again for sharing your talents. You are a fabulous teacher.
You are very welcome Anne Dantzig. Thank you and Happy knitting. Be sure to check out my new channel for live-streaming - Suzanne - Off the Cuff th-cam.com/channels/QBgFUvQzjz1RUm9NsgEA1A.html
Hi Suzanne, I bought your pattern off Ravelry called Scarf Sampler and I will definitely make one but I've been wanting to do Brioche for so long and not just the plain version. I are definitely a Master Knitter. I'm going to repeat and repeat the brioche block until I have the length I'm after. The colors I'm using are fabulous! :) I forget the name of the yarn but I purchased it from my local yarn shop in Emmaus, PA.
I love, love, love your video tutorials!! Do you have a pattern for a one-color brioche beanie that I could use for charity knitting? I live in Northern Minnesota so any knitting I do for donations needs to be extra thick and warm. I would appreciate your help finding a pattern for me. Thank you for all your hard work and for all your help along my knitting journey. I'm 79 years old so need all the help I can get...and you are much appreciated!!! Sincerely, Bobbie
Dear Suzanne, thanks for this colour work series - I'm currently working on this section of the scarf. May I offer a suggestion: could you make three very short videos, one showing the right leaning decrease for brioche, one showing the left leaning decrease for brioche and one showing the double increase? As a frequent user of TH-cam, I'm far more likely to click on a video that is 3 and a half minutes compared with a 30 minute video. While the long videos are great, after that, I'd prefer to be able to just watch a short one as a quick reminder. A few years ago, I was searching for these increase/decrease videos in brioche and they were really hard to find. I think some mini videos from you would be really appreciated by the knitting community in general. As everyone knows whose found your videos, you are a star instructor. I hope you find my feedback helpful. Thank you
Do you have charts on Brioche for knitting machines? I have a Passap Duo 80 and several single beds of different gauges and I would like to purchase the Brioche patterns for them.
Oh, thank you for catching that. It is available on Ravelry - www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/color-work-sampler-scarf. I will add this to the description under the video as well. Thank you again and happy knitting.
I have always felt bad about not having that neat, first-stitch-slipped-edge in my two-color Brioche knitting. Then I heard you ask the question regarding how to neaten the edge and while I’m still not 100% satisfied with my edges, at least I feel better because if you can’t figure it out I guess no one can! Thank you again for all you do.
Thank you. You can buy the "book" now on Ravelry. 44 pages on color work. Chloe's Colorwork Scarf - www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/chloes-colorwork-scarf
Just a great tutorial Suzanne. Best 28 minutes I've spent on YT. Bought you a Ko-fi. Plan to purchase the sampler project on Ravelry too. Only catch I have with this, did you read chart from right to left then back left to right for each row? Thanks this gives me a good start for learning Brioche.Trish (Aurora)
tnk u for taking the time out to make this video xx I understand this except for the last row. it confused me by the ssk I know what it is but you slipped a double stitch (yo st) knit a stitch, then slipped the first double stitch then passed another stitch over that's not a ssk it really confused me the row has please can u redo these 2 rows and explain them fully and why they are different please. thanks xx
So, you know - ssk and s1k1psso are the exact same results, right? In brioche, because you are dealing with the double stitches, it works out better to use the sl1k1psso method, but it is the same results as a non brioche ssk. I use the terms interchangeably. You know how knitting is, there are several words for the same thing. Sorry to cause you confusion.

Thank you. You can buy the "book" now on Ravelry. 44 pages on color work. Chloe's Colorwork Scarf - www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/chloes-colorwork-scarf

When working brioche you work with color A from right to left, color B right to left, then color A from left to right and color B from left to right.
This scarf is incredible! Where can i find the whole pattern?
Here is a link to the pattern - www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/chloes-colorwork-scarf
I think I just need to get some yarn and start knitting....that is how I get a better understanding of things......
Yep, me too. Happy knitting.
how do you close it at the end
You knit across the stitch as usual, treating the stitches with the yarnovers over them as one stitch. Happy knitting.
Здравствуйте, как вязать такой узор по кругу?
Good question. I am adding this to my video todo list. Thank you and Happy Knitting.
