Stephen, thank you so much for separating the tutorial between Continental and English styles. You create great tutorials normally, and this makes it even easier to understand the instructions when we don't have to transfer back and forth between the two styles together in one lesson. 😊
I Will never forget the stitch that cannot go out without a shawl anymore! Wow, you make Brioche less intimidating for me! I am really going to try this. Thank you!!
I was having trouble with the Italian cast my how to book was explaining. Then I saw this, you have renewed my hope of learning this knitting method. Thank you doing this and for sharing your talents with others.
“Don’t go out the door without your shawl.” This has MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE for me. I can’t wait to dig in to a simple brioche experience so I can move on to brioche with increases and decreases.
Thank you for creating the only clear video I've seen on brioche knitting that actually begins with the cast on. I've seen 3 videos in a row that showed brioche knitting from the middle of the project and with instructions that were clear as mud. I'd love to buy you a coffee.
I just wanted to share that you did such a good job of explaining how this works as well as showing exactly how to stitch this, and you didn’t go too slow or fast. Thanks so much!
very helpful! I never understood how to slip the stiches to the other needle on the circular needles. I was poking each one by hand. Silly me. Just sliding it down is so easy!. You've made such a great video here. So many good tips and demonstration, I cannot even count them. Thank you.
Thank you Stephen! That was the clearest demo of brioche that I have ever seen. I feel like you have opened a whole other world of knitting to me. I have wanted to try some of your beautiful brioche patterns but was afraid. I took a brioche class at a yarn shop years ago. There were about 20 people crammed around a table. I went back for help the next day when I got something wrong. The owner was very rude and told me I needed to learn to read my knitting. I had paid for the class and bought my yarn there. I was not a customer of that shop again and I avoided brioche from then on. I’ve so been wanting to learn. Thank you again. I have bought the Craftsy class too and had watched a little. This really clarifies it all for me and I am going to work on this and watch more of that, as I know she’s a good teacher as well, but I was intimidated by it. You have a wonderful way of explaining things and now I feel I can tackle the class and try Exploration Station which I have wanted to do for years!
Thank u for taking the time to doing an entire brioche for continental knitters of several rows instead of switching from one to the other. This is extremely important & helpful. You're a real good teacher. Once again thanks!!!!
I'm a continental knitter too and bought Marchand tutorial on crafts but her instruction was mostly with the English knitting. I just stumbled on Stephen's a d don't feel intimidated anymore 😅
Dear Stephen you are a true teacher! ... brioche was always for me the representation of the "unattainable" ... UNTIL I FOUND YOU !! really THANK YOU! 🧶🧶🥰🥰🥰🥰😊😊😊😊😊😊🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
I have been hitting this point in learning where I'm asking myself if I even like the way knit looks anymore.. but when I see your projects, I absolutely love them. You bring the dopamine back.
İ came here frustrated from other videos where İ achieved nothing! Now I'm leaving happy and motivated because İ found the best teacher ever and my first brioche knitting is stunning! Thank you soo much!
Love the images, “shawl on the shoulder” and details like yarn in front before slip. I learned it’s all in the details esp what happens at ends of rows. Also to NOT practice with the buffalo/alpaca I bought for my scarf!! Poof!! Thank you!! You saved me.
I have watched a dozen brioche tutorials, and yours let me understand it, rather than just do it. I still keep messing up, but now I can try to salvage it!
Your explanation is SOOO good! I can follow, it's funny, it's easy to stay concentrated to, it's complete and now I finally feel confident to start trying it!
Yeahhh I can't believe it, I can knit brioche 🥳😀! It took me many many times, and watched your video over and over again, also in slow motion. And now I feel so content with being able to knit brioche, what is so much fun. Thank you so much Stephen, I really appreciate your video and clear teaching!
Thank you I was so confused with the way some hold the yarn and do their difficult knit and purl. Finally I found someone who does then the way I do without making it really comes to understand
Thank you, Stephen, I really appreciate your guiding skill, and unforgettable too. God bless your knowledge more and more. Workie from Ethiopia, East Africa.
Omg I absolutely love you!! I can’t even begin to count how many different knitting tutorials I’ve watched… nope! No good! Wish I’d found you years ago! Where have you been all my life?! ❤❤
Thank you so much for your patience . It is obvious that you do your brioche with love and passion. And wool in the right hand , I am so grateful for explanation. Already see jumper in lime and white cashmere done mostly using brioche technique. 💗💗💗
Thank you Stephen! Your repetitions and saying it out loud helped tremendously. I feel much closer to understanding what is going on when I work with brioche.
Omg!!!!! I think I finally get it!!! I couldn’t understand his guy know whether to brk or brp. But then I see that you just follow the ribbing pattern. Just knit the knots and purl the purls and those are after the slipped stitch. Thank you so much for the visual that the stitch is wearing its shawl. That makes so much sense.
In all my life I've never encountered a man knowing more about knitting than me. I love that I know nothing about brioche knitting and that the first video i find about it is a guy explaining so clearly and understandingly. I'm sorry if i assumed genders and i might come over as close minded. Im trying to broaden my horizons and I'm still Learning. Not just about knitting. 😅
Thank you for showing both knitting methods. I use whichever method works best for what I am knitting. I also appreciate showing how to recognize mistakes AND how to correct them. I just purchased your “night nook” sweater and was wondering how to do the saddle. Your instructions are easy to follow, but much more concentration intensive. You are the Kaffe of this generation. Both innovative, creative, and fun. Thank you.
Omg, i remember your patterns from when I was in high school. But it was for chevron scarves in knitty. I have always admired your work and now I find out that you have a TH-cam channel. Love it.
Thank you so much. I already knew how to knit brioche with 2 colors but it had been a few years. Watching your video clarified a couple things for me. Good job! ❤️
I am so happy to read this, now I get some hope! I already tried 20 repeats, so maybe in 80 repeats I will also get it! Omg this is so difficult but really would like to learn this.
Thank you Stephen for a remarkable video. I've tried 3 different classes from 3 different knit shops to learn this and failed miserably each time. I can't wait to try again using your videos! I know I'll make mistakes but for the first time I think I'll be able to repair them from watching your videos.
I've really struggled with learning Brioche knitting but will not be deterred. Thanks for showing BOTH English and Continental methods it really helps. Optimistic this tutorial will help me.
I’m a knitter of 4 and a half decades experience and always thought brioche was very complicated. I’m definitely gong to give it a try after you have mace it look so simple. Thank you, Stephen 😀🤓🤗🙏
This is so perfect! My knitting goal for this year was to learn brioche stitch so I could make the Askews Me shawl and here are the videos to get me started :)
Stephen your tutorial is everything! I have been knitting for years, but avoided brioche because it looked too fiddly and hard to learn. I watched your video once, and was knitting away on a brioche scarf in minutes. Thank you, thank you for the continental instructions!! Almost no one does content for us continental knitters...can't wait to look for more of your work
Kia Ora from New Zealand, Mr. West. Thanks for such a enjoyable tutorial, I've thrown some patterns aside because of not mastering brioche, and you have made it very straightforward here.
If you know how to do brioche, you still should watch for the entertainment 😊 Steven, you're just a natural teacher!
You make brioche seem so approachable, than, you!
Stephen, thank you so much for separating the tutorial between Continental and English styles. You create great tutorials normally, and this makes it even easier to understand the instructions when we don't have to transfer back and forth between the two styles together in one lesson. 😊
Thanks for the feedback! I'll share some more soon. :)
Admirable teaching - clear, cute, slow enough, lots of repeats, and encouraging. Yay! Thank you, Stephen!
I agree- Stephen makes it seem doable!
I Will never forget the stitch that cannot go out without a shawl anymore! Wow, you make Brioche less intimidating for me! I am really going to try this. Thank you!!

This is the best Two-Color Brioche video I've ever watched!!! Thank you Stephen
Glad you enjoyed it!
“Don’t go out the door without your shawl.” This has MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE for me. I can’t wait to dig in to a simple brioche experience so I can move on to brioche with increases and decreases.
What do you mean by that statement please?

Ditto to the last message!! So helpful for those of us who have never brioched before. Thank you!!
