We had those type of dudes in the military. Ones that would pull rank for absolutely no reason, other than it made them feel like they were super duper off the automatic, Mr. Butthead Big Shot. "Listen to me! My mom says I'm cool, I'm cool! Now do push-ups!" Lol. Love the videos! These campers look so freakin stellarific! Got a medical retirement from serving and have been thinking about a camper and just...going... everywhere lol. These border crossing power trips always make us nervous for the next time! Thanks for the kind words! Glad you found our videos helpful and good luck on your search for a RV!
Do it brother. I’m medically retired too and got into the 9-5 and home owner life right when I got out, but wish I took a year to travel around in our trailer first.

This is so great excited to see the follow up video. I remember being grilled by those Canadian customs officers years ago in High School dragging a dirtbike and small fishing boat up into Ontario. I think they must get a per question bonus. Not sure they really even care what the answers are. Just that you make an effort to explain yourself
Makes so much sense to have a roof rack to put awning on it, with storage ability… the generator, tote, etc! Too vad they didn’t add some more storage over the back window!
Great video thank you for sharing. I can't wait too see the impressions video, thank you for covering the weight, but hopefully you'll also let us know what the hitch weight is and the cost 🙏
We so glad you enjoyed the video! I'll have to report back on the hitch weight. I'm not sure on the price yet since this is pre-production, but I'll ask the manufacturer.
@@JustinandJess Hi! Super nice! I am also interested in understanding the tongue weight on this unit loaded out. We are truing to keep it under 350lbs to use with the Ford Bronco and that may be tricky. Looking at the expedition price sheet, it looks like this 7143 Expedition may run $100CAD pimped out with all of the bells and whistles.
This Alto looks really cool! When we went to pick up our alto earlier this year, the getaway folks told us to go back through commercial/truck lane, which we did, but the officer was not happy at all. He said we should not have used the commercial lane. So confusing 😂
We're convinced that you could go through multiple times a day and get different results each time 😅. Then again... we've got a weird situation. Thanks for watching!
Loved the video...Thanks, you two, for taking this trip so I don't have to. Maybe someday they will sell these in the US so I don't have to go through an experience like yours. As an old retired Federal Employee, I can't even imagine the trouble I would get into if I had to deal with those hassles... Still, looks like you have your hands on a really cool new trailer and I am envious...👍
Thanks for the lovely comment! We're so glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah the border crossing is frustrating because they have the authority to make your life really difficult if you don't do exactly as they say. Fortunately, we're honest people with nothing to hide... I can't imagine how difficult of a time someone with nefarious intentions would have trying to cross. But then again, maybe that's why they put you through the pressure cooker... to see if you crack!
Love the rigid solar panels and grey seating , nice . We have the novacool it’s a compressor fridge they’re exceptional. We love the coziness , yet not cramped feeling of our 1743 . Nice water tank stats . Where are the batteries stored ? My 2 100a/h are in the front metal box but cramped . Fun times for sure , you’re a fun team .
We have officially decided that the roof rack storage is now seating 🤣. One 200Ah battery is on the tongue and the other is placed in the front basement (below the dinette seating). Thanks for the kind words!

Im a new follower, located in Seattle, and in the market for my first tow trailer! Cant wait to watch all your videos as the Safari Condo Alto is becoming my favorite vs the fiberglass options like Casita and Scamp. Did you consider those options before choosing Safari Condo?
Thanks so much for watching! When we bought our first Alto (the R1723) we chose it because it could fit in our garage. (see video here: th-cam.com/video/TgaeC_VNS9Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pfO9zb1145qnmpTx) That being said, we've always loved the design of the Casita and Scamps. Very cute and light trailers.
Did you get an owners manual for the expedition which has a specifications page for the R1743x? Could you post it and maybe a screenshot of the tag on the tongue with the specs. Previous comment mentioned that you said your trailers weight in your video. Will watch it again! Thanks. Can’t seem to google this info almost like safari is keeping it a secret! Happy to find your channel.
Thanks for the great video.... what a surprise!! A new Alto wow! Do you know if they Will offer the expedition package (clearance, tires, etc) on the F2114? We would love this as the 2114 would fit us better for the king bed 🛏️ n the back and larger bathroom. Thinking of buying one.
I'm not aware of any plans for Safari Condo to offer the Expedition package for other models besides the F1743, but if it turns out to be as successful as I think it will be, I'd have to imagine they'd consider it! It's probably the question we've received the most since releasing this video! Thanks for watching! Don't forget to subscribe to be notified when our first impressions review comes out (soon). 😊
We definitely plan of testing out some gnarly roads in the next 12 months! We've already done some dispersed camping on some rough National Forest roads and I definitely feel less worried about clipping the rear bumper on the ground.
We were worried about it, but turns out we have tons of extra space we're not using in the Expedition. Truth be told, we didn't use half the space we had in the F2114. I think it's going to work out nicely (for us at least). We still need to move our winter clothes in here, so I'll report back on the topic in our next video!
They are not removable, but fingers crossed, clearance should not be an issue. We've already had fun hitting some deep ruts and had no issues, but I'll report back on this topic in a future video!
@@JustinandJess Gnarly tires and more clearance are useless with the caravan movers mounted. Declining road budgets will continue to make Forest Service and BLM roads to the best boondock sites worse every year. And even without the $2600 "marriage saver", sewer pipes reduce clearance. @@kathleenandmikewalker8066 for what it's worth, the Expedition is not built on the same frame as the F1743, but rather on a taller frame like the F2114 so the caravan movers engage higher on the tire tread. Is really amazing how our experiences with border crossings vary so much. My only hypothesis is, don't go just before lunch or dinner time when they are hungry 🤣
We've had no issue with the AC so far. In fact, the hottest temperatures we've camped in this year were near Big bend in Texas and it got over 90°. One thing I'll note though, The Expedition is by far the best alto at heat management because of its roof rack. The raised solar panels act as a layer of insulation, blocking the sun from hitting the roof directly. I really can't overstate how much of a difference this makes in keeping the trailer cool!

@@JustinandJessYou might want to add a disclaimer to clarify the relationship between you and Safari Condo, and also not run afoul of FTC regulations about “in kind” payments: “Bloggers who receive cash or in-kind payment (including free products or services for review) are deemed endorsers and so must disclose material connections they share with the seller of the product or service.” Most vloggers do this as part of their “here’s something I use” type of content.
