I just used your FAA TRUST Recreational test service. The lessons that were included gave all the information need to operate my drone correctly and safely. I got 100% result on the test that followed the lessons. Thank you! Now I'm headed over to register my existing DJI mavic air which I first register over 5 years ago.
Completed, printed and laminated. Print at 93% to allow edges to seal. Also, the sides printed on opposite sides, left and right, of the paper. I doubled each image and rotated one side 180 degrees to get cards that have the top on the same edge and double sided. May sound convoluted, but check by printing and see what you get then adjust as necessary.
Thank you for everything. I've been a flying of FPV for the last 7 years. I've been out of the hobby for the last 2 and was so confused to come back to all this FAA garbage. You guys made it so clear in 10 minutes when I've been trying to get clear information for a month on what's required. Thank you!
I’m currently studying for my 107 through your course. I received your email about this yesterday and immediately did the training. Super easy, super quick, didn’t miss a question.
So when I was 16...Im 38 now...The Academy of Model and Aeronautics had a similar test to take. People complaining about the rules don't realize that even model airplanes and model anything really back in the day still required you to take a test for your safety and everyone else's safety...I understand why it needs to be done of course...I was happy to take the new test and found out I had been doing some things wrong...Im glad I researched out of paranoia and took my TRUST test. Gives me relief that I now have a digital copy of my recreational license in my phone. Just wish I could have one in my wallet...lol. Stay safe everyone. Back in the day this test was written and had to be sent in by mail...so it took weeks and months to get certified...lol. Be happy it's so easy to do now...lol.

How to fly a drone recreationally: 1 If your drone weighs more than .55 lbs, register your drone through the FAA's DroneZone 2 Pass TRUST 3 Follow safety guidelines on the FAA website or of an existing aeromodelling organization” When I read this, I’m under the impression you still don’t need to complete TRUST if you are under .55. Can you clarify?
I think the test is a great thing for our drone community. It's big now, and growing at an amazing speed. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to take it through you guy's. I appreciate it.

Great Job. I've been flying away and neevvverrr knew; now I do. I watched your videos, completed the training, have my Trust Cert all laminated (I made four of them) and just registered my drone with FAA and printed/laminated four cards as well. Hi thank you for the information, i have a question, if a just want to post my videos recorded with my drone in Instagram or Facebook, Do i need the part 107 or can i fly as recreational pilot ??
Oh boy, I get to take TRUST again as I can't find my certificate and my main computer had a hard drive failure so I tossed it and got a new one. At least I know I won't fail it.
Una pregunta, si no resido en los Estados Unidos, no soy residente ni ciudadano de ese país, puedo sacar el certificado y si voy de vacaciones hacia allá puedo llevar mi drone y volarlo sin problemas? Gracias de antemano
Hi, I'm very new to flying GPS and FPV drones. I have completed the TRUST. Thank you for providing the information and test on your website. Some of what I learned from TRUST was recreational pilots can't fly above 400 feet. i saw your video about 400 ft AGL :) Another restriction I learned while taking the TRUST was keeping the drone in Visual Line Of Sight. Again I am very new at this but, I have seen A LOT of videos of recreational drone pilots not keeping their drones in VLOS. What happens if you break these rules? I understand pilots with part 107 may fly above 400 feet in certain areas but, what about Visual Line Of Sight? Thank you for all of the work you do to educate. I look forward to learning more.
I live in an area thats heavily treed. Country area with limited houses and terrain low hills/ stream valleys etc.. With the leaves out I can't see the drone unless I keep it within my 5 acres though I know where it is because of the camera.
I know people who are off the grid and live a simple life in remote areas who have a drone. I will make sure the ones I know of get the message when I go camping, however where they are is not where anyone would likely be asking for a certificate. My question is: At what point in time will the certificate be required? Obviously, not everyone will be getting the word immediately.
Me and my spouse have bought the new DJI mini 4 pro. I got it registered with FAA even it is below 250 grams. My question is does me and my spouse have to get two different registration for the drone if we share the drone?
Hi there Nice videos as always Very informative Just some doubts, if i go to the USA (as a tourist) and i bring my mavic mini I dont need to register it, but as a foreign tourist am i allowed to take the trust test? So i can fly the drone as recreational flyer 100% legal, even if i am a foreign tourist? What about registering a drone like the mavic air 2, can i register it as a foreign tourist? Or only USA passport holders or green card holders can do that? Thanks in advance
Yes you can (and need to) take the TRUST test to fly in the US, even as a tourist. For your Air 2, you will need to register it as well. No need to be a citizen.
@@PilotInstitute thank you very much, i just did the training on your website, super informative and easy language to understand, really wish the part 107 test is this easy hehe

Thank you sooo much for making that really easy to take the test... much appreciated!!!!
Just took the course and printed my Certificate. Easy Peasy! Thanks Greg!
What are the other requirements to fly recreational drones besides this test?
I requested 5 free sticker but Iam not sure what are the limit but I only got 4. Do I need to request for another one?
I took the test with you guys…well laid out. Good job!!!
The weight of my drone is under 250 grams (DJI mini 3 pro). Do i still have to take the test (TRUST)?
Yes, there is no weight limit for taking TRUST.
The FAA said there will be a grace period, but they didn't specify how long.
Hey Greg, I have been part 107 licensed for a year now and also have passed the recurrent training. Do I still need this?
Only if you want to fly under 44809 rules. You can use Part 107 to fly recreationally otherwise.
Hi Guys, thank you for you easy instruction and valuble information! you guys make flying Drones fun
Me and my spouse have bought the new DJI mini 4 pro. I got it registered with FAA even it is below 250 grams. My question is does me and my spouse have to get two different registration for the drone if we share the drone?
One registration works for anyone to fly it. Think about it like your car registration.
I already took it I passed it thank you I really appreciate you
Completing it first thing in the morning. Thank you so much as always for great information!
Hi there
Nice videos as always
Very informative
Just some doubts, if i go to the USA (as a tourist) and i bring my mavic mini
I dont need to register it, but as a foreign tourist am i allowed to take the trust test? So i can fly the drone as recreational flyer 100% legal, even if i am a foreign tourist?
What about registering a drone like the mavic air 2, can i register it as a foreign tourist? Or only USA passport holders or green card holders can do that?
Thanks in advance
Yes you can (and need to) take the TRUST test to fly in the US, even as a tourist.
For your Air 2, you will need to register it as well. No need to be a citizen.
@@PilotInstitute thank you very much, i just did the training on your website, super informative and easy language to understand, really wish the part 107 test is this easy hehe
Thank you Greg. I already taken the exam and passed it. Maybe it took me a little more than half hour because my English is not perfect and I did not want to miss any detail, but it was still very easy. I have just one question: Can I request an LAANC even if I intend to fly in uncontrolled and unrestricted airspace? Thank you so much!
hi Miguel, glad you did the training. You can't submit LAANC requests in uncontrolled airspace, it's not required there and it won't let you.
Hey Greg, I'm taking the 107 training with you in preparations to my exam, so I'm flying as a recreational now, my question is: should I register my drone as a hobbyist now or wait and register it after getting my 107 certification?
You can do both. The recreational one can be added to multiple drones. A Part 107 registration is $5 per drone.
You can register under part 107 without having your part 107. Then when you being to fly under part 107, you're good.
