Yep, completely useless and a waist of the players time. They don't increase the skill ceiling either. Also the Quick-winch could be improved, it should never grab something out of the direction your front wheels are facing if your camera is also facing forward. Could use a quick third-person back-up camera hotkey as well.
That tree in Imandra is an Observation Test : you just need to dodge it by going offroad 5 meters on the right (when going to the garage). It's funny how many people get stuck on it when you can actually stay full speed and dodge it.
I would add the telephone poles over the road in some maps (amur, kola), often they are an instant death for suspension and tires. Also the physics, sometimes it gets mad and sends you to international space station for no reason, or just makes your truck do Tony Hawk tricks in the best case. Thanks for the videos, they are great, keep doing them :)
For the transmission problem, I use the high range gear box (if it's available) and shift into high once it gets moving and feather the accelerator button to modulate speed. Keeps it from downshifting all the way to 1st.
Rocks and bolders are the worst imo. When you get high centered on a big bolder and your wheels hang in the air. Also agree a lot on the useless winch points. Just remove them please. On a controler you can't click on the right one, you have to circle around them all and it's not easy. Still love the game tho 😆
The 3 horsmen of apocalypse in Snowrunner: 1. Stumps and fallen trees: The two things that will always stop you dead in your tracks by measure of f-ed up physics and collisions, luckly the fallen trees can be "broken" and then they phase throught he ground and lose all collision so this is bareable at least. 2. Rocks big or small: Need i say more? whoever at Saber tought adding millions of small rocks that do nothing except make you lose grip and have the shittiest glichiest physics and collisions in the game is an idiot and that's a fact. I get that it's an offroad game and yes some rocks are fine, they are afterall the challenge of this game BUT small rocks in particular but also big ones too are just overused by the devs. Big ones have to be a challenge but a rare one imo and small one should be part of the scenery not that one thing that makes a map impossible by f-ing you over even if you have a military grade tank. 3. Small tree saplings acting as which points: Seriously who in their right mind would think a sapling that barely stands up by itself is a good whiching point? Why? These things alone make the auto which function almost useless because 98% of the time when you almost roll and need to auto which to prevent it it will auto which to a sapling and you will not only roll the game will also mock you for it. -_- Look i love the game but these devs need to get their shit together man, some thing sin this game need to be improved now while the game is still actively getting updates, once this is over and Expeditions comes this will stay the way it is so it needs fixing.
Those damn rocks! The small ones are the eggs of the devil. They sometimes hide under the pavement and they still deal damage to a truck with huge tires. You shouldn't even feel them!!!
I think some trees are too small for big trucks to use as winch points, but big enough for scouts to use, and I'm OK with that, it seems to model real life pretty well.
Use H-gear if you want stable speed. It's really good offroad and on tarmac. You can also use speed-gearbox if you have permanent difflock and use it as your main gear ) Grip on a tarmac is really bad on mud tires. And that what it like in real world, mud tear are pretty soft and has deep treads. Just test tarmac grip with highway tires. You can tap winch multiple times with these weak trees, it will help you if you stuck. But yeah, quick winch when you fallin - that for real )
The problem you have with grip on roads and sliding all over, is kind of a user error issue. Offroad tires have less grip on road than onroad tires. This is simply how things work in reality. Drive more carefully on road, or put road tires under your truck.
Badly joined concrete slabs as a road (like the ones in Amur urska river) will eat your tires and suspension even at low speed. All movable scenery (indicator poles, cars, cans, boxes, bariers and cones, etc..) have a fixed radius of working. If that is moved it should start to decay and disapear. But some don't disapear right away and when at end of their radius they just stop like an invisable wall. If your truck is pushing on it it may clip in your truck creating havok. Fighting transmissions is a challenge. depending on situation highgear might be the middle gear you need (highgear from offroad gearbox is slow enough to be usable even on tricky offroad trails) Highgear from highway box is quite fast for some trucks (tayga, ank, voron ae, twinsteer, royal, etc) and some trucks can't use highgear at all due to power shortage and very heavy mass like kenworth
Hmmm, I dunno man :P. Like, I get some of your points, but some of them , you had really overstated. Imandra is not that hard or bad map, I think it is even pretty balanced. SUre, that tree cant be removed, but in reality, I doubt you would be able to. You try it once, 2x and then you know it wont help. And then the fast driving on road, sure, could be better, but is not as bad as you had said. This game isn not for people with lack of patience, so if you see you are going too fast, just slow down lol :D
I hate this arbitrary difficulty those devs put in games. Theyre lazy to implement meaningful hardship so they just put it in there. Im very near quiting this game
4:27 Ah yes, the third kind of tree: The kind that vanishes the second you winch to it.
Yep, completely useless and a waist of the players time. They don't increase the skill ceiling either. @@maximusspqr i love quick winching and have the quick winch decide that the tree besides me is a perfect winch point when i want to winch fowards
Yeah, transmission is just awful, weak trees also.
Dude, fighting the transmission is the worst part of this game lol. I wish I could just maintain a speed
There should be a cruise control option
That tree in Imandra is an Observation Test : you just need to dodge it by going offroad 5 meters on the right (when going to the garage).

That unbreakable tree was so frustrating. Going around you are met with potential roll over and deep snow.
For the transmission problem, I use the high range gear box (if it's available) and shift into high once it gets moving and feather the accelerator button to modulate speed. Keeps it from downshifting all the way to 1st.

Imandra has also another hidden enemy, unhappy packed ice. that sometimes lauches truck in to it's sides or really unhappy got you visit to skybox

3.5 imandra small unbreakable birch saplings.

It's always a mystery when damages of wheels or suspension show up while driving on some clean paved way in Taymyr XD
I call them land mines, they're on every map.

Ah yeah.. the fist sized rocks that destroy huge parts of the suspension of a giant rig... sure happens irl as well...
Agree 100 percent. Also, that tree isn't the only spot the devs did that...
Wooden poles , especially toppled ones
And garage gate for when you use giant vehicle
Looking away from the screen for a brief moment is another hidden enemy 💯
I just got the Season 9 DLC, and a small, burnt tree somehow got stuck in my Loadstar, it took me a while to get out of this situation…
1:10 I just use the highway transmission and high gear, this way i can use the throttle to control my speed like a normal automatic.
You forgot to mention the tree roots, simply a headache.
On my stream we refer to stumps as Romulans as you never see them, so annoying!
The problem you have with grip on roads and sliding all over, is kind of a user error issue. Offroad tires have less grip on road than onroad tires. This is simply how things work in reality. Drive more carefully on road, or put road tires under your truck.
Because of the awkward transmission, I use the high gear always.
I find that downshifting transmission is not a problem if you are holding the brake
Don't forget guard rails and those fking Kola ice rocks landmines.

Half the time i just want to hear you say truck as many times 😊
Not gonna lie drifting is fun in snowrunner it makes the game very tokyoish 😂

Those are my enemies
The roots! 🤮
😂😂 All true
