@@TalleyBellum yeahhhh, but people don’t care about the scientist. Even in Hotel Transylvania Frank clarifies that he’s technically Frankenstein’s monster but he, along with everyone else, doesn’t care that his name isn’t Frankenstein
It slightly saddens me, but with all of those electronics in Buzz’s chest, I’m guessing you won’t be able make the whooshing helmet actually whoosh _all the way._ No official toy has ever managed that.
You unlocked buried memories. This is pretty much exactly what I wanted to do as a kid because I just wanted movie accurate toys and my parents would get do annoyed. Maybe I should at last please my inner child and take up to my own project like this and get a collection.
It really amazes me the Disney has never tried to profit off of making a “masterpiece” version of Woody and Buzz. Adult collectors would pay good money to have 100% movie accurate versions of them. Just look at Al from Toy Story 2, he was literally meant to represent that kind of collector. Then they could even sell a separate collectors display case like the ones in Toy Story 2 and make even more money.
I had the buzz and woodie that talk to each other using a sensor, that Gad movie phrases toy mode phrases and one button was just random. And on certain ones they would for example “this town ain’t big enough for the two of us” “you’re mocking me aren’t you” they had the wings and correctish laser but the swooosh on the helmet and karate chop weren’t with it
the laser mod is so cool! id like to make a mod where you keep holding the laser in and it keeps looping the sound and keeps the laser on the entire time
I had a Buzz and Woody when I was little and I agree so much with your criticisms of their designs. I had the Woody with the open mouth and the giant pull string ring and the overstuffed limbs. It was really an awful design. But I guess toy companies really think kids will not care. I absolutely did. And yeah I had one of the first Buzz toys. There have been so many iterations of the same toy over the years. I had the one where all three buttons were connected and I really thought that was a ripoff. Also how the helmet didn't go all the way back, even though they could have easily made it work, and how the wings just loaded in straight even though they're supposed to swing up and extend.
Toy Story 3 was my favorite movie when I was little so this is amazing. The only problem I had is that the laser shouldn’t be an actual cat laser as it’s dangerous. I always felt it was more of a soft light like a projection rather than a laser, especially since in universe since it’s supposed to be a toy sold to children.

I'm surprised you didn't use the glow-in-the-dark Buzz doll for sound effects since I'm pretty sure that one used movie-accurate lazer sound effects and it also had a helmet-whoosh sound effect. Also, Tim Allen only started voicing the Buzz toys when Toy Story 4 came out. Prior to that, Pat Fraley usually did the toy voice clips.

Hello there! I hope I'm not bothering, I asked on Twitter, but I also wanted to ask here. About the Laser sound module. You cut the button off of the new one and wired it to the light?
@ hello! Not a bother at all! I haven’t been active on twitter in quite some time 😅 so basically I cut the wire that activates the sound on the doll, and wired the little laser wire to the little sound board. Honestly though it’s already been so long since that part, that I could have my wires crossed (*badum tss*) I’m actually now working on revising a lot of the electronics to be more streamlined and fit a little easier in the doll. Thanks for checking it out!

I wonder if the people in-universe that actually made/fabricated the toys made them inside out. Cause Woody, for example, normally has his mouth closed, but when he's moving around we can see that he actually has the insides of his mouth like teeth, thongue, throat and shit. So were all woody toys and such intentionally made inside and out? (Although in his body is just fluff)

If these moved to a different place, put a camera in the room without them knowing so they will be seen walking around and interacting with each other (Don't take this seriously it's just an exaggeration)
The Buzz originally used was a JCPenny’s Buzz. Though some of the parts are from a slightly older Disney Store Buzz (before they started putting little sensors on the torso)

The whooshing element whooshing all the way seems impossible, even with a high budget, I don’t think companies are clever enough to pull that off.
