I got the black one, and I was flipping it around at my bus stop. Turns out a police officer had seen me and thought it was a real knife, and followed me to my school. They pulled me over and I nearly shit my pants. I showed them it was a pen, and they confinscated it. Whoops. But hey, I didn't get shot.

u can get a balicomb which is a balisong but the blade is replaced with a comb. so its literally a trainer knife but with an extra feature. u can own it legally as long as there isn't a law that says u cant own an item that looks a lot like the real thing.
They should make a 100% stainless steel version, i bought one of these and they are way to light!

I have the pink/orange version that I got directly from spyderco and its not packaged either of these ways. Its the fisherpen version.

I had the black one around the time it came out, it was cool then but once i got a real balisong I can't go back to it lol. Also it broke.

I own the black Chinese made one. The plastic around the weights is not very durable at all, and snapped after a few days of use. I would definitely like to try the "heavy duty" one. Hopefully it's made of a better plastic compound.
I have the black one and I love it. It's a great and functional fidget toy. :-)

Glad to know I'm not the only one who had problems with the Chinese version with the ends cracking around the weights (3 days is about accurate, been through a few already). Then again, it takes a little time to readjust myself from my Benchmade 42 to one of these. Does anyone have that problem with the American version?

+BladeOps NO. They break super easy. The Chinese ones crack where the weights are when they make contact. Mine lasted about two days.

+BladeOps That's what I did, although I hear it lighter. It's a cool little pen, & for someone that's good with their hands, it's fun to "flip". Ironic American's call it that, and it's sort of Filipino. Anyhow, I'm getting a real Filipino style Balisong, so I just wanted to get use to some standard moves. Although these are way better for the Americanized free style flipping. I actually sanded my handle edges to be more roundish, so I can spin it. The shapes not good for that type of thing, but it's still fun for people with restless hands.

Can the Baliyo do advanced tricks as well as the regular Balisong? like behind the 8 ball, helix, hellbent.etc.
I dont thinks so its alot lighter incomparison to a normal balisong
I'm not that concerned about the weight since it has metal weights attached to it(how heavy idk). My main concern is regarding the curved design of the handles that might make the baliyo slip off while doing difficult tricks.
Hetzerogeneous Well then yes its capable of doin advance tricks but it will be difficult to get used to the handle so u will hav to practise first
i don't think it will handle well with high difficulty momentum tricks..... since that would mean positioning my finger across the entire width of that thing to prevent it from flying off. unless the width of the handle is small, then I wouldn't mind

true i would get the cheaper one but thats sold out, and i think color or brightness gives it a good look, and les of a chance of someone thinking its a real blade. still there is that chance.
I have them both, and i think the black cheap one feels better when you flip it...
but the expensive one is more durable. Also the cheap ones color seems better, and it has quicker response...o.O

I have a question totally off topic.... I recently bought a used benchmade 3500 SBT auto knife, It came with the box, paperwork ect. My question is, on the blade where all the other ones I checked out say benchmade inside the butterfly mine says "BALISONG" Do you have any ideal why?

Some people like to flip things, twirl things, spin things, etc. This thing sort of combines pen spinning with balisong flipping without the zero tolerance issues of a blade. If you're not into flipping, twirling, spinning things, then obviously this isn't for you. It's got little to nothing to do with looking cool, IMO.

All balisongs and butterfly knife-like slingers are pretty good for a first time as long as they're safe, but if you're going to get a first timer I'd definitely recommend using your money on a trainer balisong, since they usually flip better. Don't be a total cheapskate though, or else you'll run into something that could break on you pretty quickly. :p
+IcyWyvern ok thanks for the advise! I just got my comb trainer and a baliyo, and I love spinning! I looked up some reviews before purchasing the comb trainer, and they all said it was a great trainer, but the day I received it, the latch flew off and I haven't found the screw. it is still functional but really annoying sometimes to figure out which end is which. I've put a piece of yarn and tied a large knot in it so I can recognize the blade handle. Thanks again for the advise, and btw geo dash is still cool ;)
