RIP Eric (Eazy E) Wright tha hip-hop thugsta & godfather of gangsta rap (s/o to Scholly D)
Yep just look at that BS movie they made making eazy look bad. They show him getting beat up by Suge and his people but didn't show what really happened. If you know about that deal eazy kept signing his name as Mickey mouse and John hancock til he got the deal he wanted. Which is why he kept making money off Dre and even snoop. Snoop wasn't even on ruthless records.
I think part of the reason Eazy's legacy fell off is for 2 reasons. Number 1, he obviously wasnt the most talented rapper at the end of the day. He had a great team of producers and other rappers to back him, and his music was more authentic (i.e. he was a legitimate gangbanger/drug dealer), but he couldn't really be considered a great lyricist like Pac or Biggie. He will always be remembered as a figure more than a rapper. Number 2, in a weird way I think Dre, one of, if not THE most successful figure in hip hop history, wants people to forget Eazy's true legacy because much of his legacy was built on trashing Dre during their beef - and a lot of the shit he trashed Dre for contradicts the image Dre built himself around. Dre has to save face by acknowledging Eazy as his "friend" on some level or he'll just look like a bitter loser, but he grossly misrepresents their relationship. I know he says him and Eazy squashed it on his deathbed, but there's no real witnesses to that, he didn't attend Eazy's funeral, and up until that they were on bad terms because Dre up and left Eazy high and dry and set him up to get extorted by Suge Knight. The movie that Dre might as well have wrote himself makes it look, in the words of Charlemagne, like a superhero and Eazy like he was broke and enviously proud of Dre's success from the Chronic (despite the album opening with an Eazy diss and Eazy being a multi-multi millionaire). I think Dre has systematically and quietly shut the door on Eazy E in his own way, making himself look like one of the only ones holding it down for him - like he was a secondary character in Dre's story. Eazy is still one of my favorite figures in hip hop of all time. It is ashame that he doesnt get his due respect and a lot of people only know him from N.W.A. or 'Boyz in the Hood'.
AINT NOBODY FORGOT ABOUT EAZY E! Hes always mentioned. Hell Straught Outts Compton was more about Eazy than anyone else in NWA. HE ALWAYS GETS HIS FLOWERS. B.G. cut it out dawg.🤬

I agree with BGKO. But I don’t think Eazy cared much about the Hip Hop part of all that he did as much as he cared about the business side of it. If you look at the last few years of Eazy’s life he was more about helping everyone around him and just enjoying his life because he was wealthy at that level. So a shout out I doubt Eazy would have cared about it though he would have certainly welcomed the recognition for it. Overall Eazy died a happy man under unhappy circumstances. He would have been more upset about how the people he loved were treated after his passing especially his kids. Should the surviving members of N.W.A. have created a trust fund for his kids (Dre and cube mostly) given Eazy made their success possible? Indeed. Maybe they do help them and I hope so but that would have been the right thing to do.
