Insightful ! Sabine could you elaborate on- at the early stage of career how to combine our skills and create a rare combination of skills which adds value to another which are both useful in company's growth & also sky rocketing our progress ? I am a hvac design engineer in Aec construction industry, have heard about it skill stacking so was keen to know how is it done properly to work at our advantage..
Thank you so much for your feedback and question. I am glad to hear the video has been helpful. With regard to your question on skill stacking: I would suggest: 1) Think about your professional career goals - where would you like to be in five years? Are you e.g. interested in a specialist expert role, or would are you interested in a managerial function? 2) Research the profiles of professionals who are where you would like to be in the future. Look for job descriptions or profiles of successful professionals in your field to get an idea of the skills in demand. What skills are they using? What skills have helped them to get there? Don't hesitate to seek advice and guidance. 3) What are the current trends, demands, and emerging technologies or areas of expertise? Which skills would be required? 4) Assess the answers to 1 - 3, identify skill gaps. Then, based on your research and self-assessment, prioritize the skills that are most relevant to your goals and in-demand in your field. Focus on those that will make you stand out or fill crucial gaps AND that you are interested in. 5) Some skills that are useful in a broad range of professions: communication, leadership, project management. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know in case you have any follow up question. Best wishes to you.
@@SabineRenner It means a lot 😊 Sabine my big concern at the moment is the job search process which i need to start after 2 months after being out of corporate world for some yrs so hesitant & nervous about performing well in upcoming challenges i am a Hvac engineer in Aec construction industry with 6 months internship knowledge.. could you share some wisdom regarding that how to be employable in competitive market ? How to get hired faster ? stay an achiever despite of wind blowing in opposite direction ? Can Unique identity or skills makes us more Valuable than any other things ? Any book suggestions on this topic would be helpful too ...
@@SabineRennerWhich Job search book would help the most in this scenario to get job after a big gap of 4 years due to personal domestic reasons of taking care of my mom/family.. how should i answer the questions in interview about it without being seen as unprofessional ?
Hello Mohib, thank you for reaching out and for sharing. I imagine that reentering the job market might feel daunting...and would like to encourage you to look at the situation differently. Over the last four years, you learned valuable lessons, built skills, and tapped into your strengths...what if you see this as an ASSET rather than a LIABILITY? I am sure there have been many experiences along the way that could help you make meaningful contributions in the future. Life happens while we build our careers. Instead of justifying what happened, just outline it, share that you are entering a new chapter, and look forward to contributing everything you learned along the way. This shows that you are proactive, that you think about how you can use your strengths and skills to make a contribution and that you are resilient and adaptable.
