Kelly! I've been playing 45 plus years. Always struggled with this song, Your video suddenly opened a door showing me the song is more straight forward and less complex than I had been making it. Great job putting out a solid tutorial! Thank you!
Kelly, excellent job on a great Montrose song. You are a great guitar player and an excellent teacher. Your videos are very clear and concise and easy to follow. Once again, GREAT JOB! and keep making these great videos and sharing the joy of making music and teaching others in the process!!
Yea I remember well, as I also played that annum right out …lol..seen them in Duluth with them opening for Foghat and Black Oak Arkansas …Montrose blew them both out the water , I’ll never forget them starting with space station #5 …they played La Grange threw the PA Before they went in SS#5 …everybody’s heads were rockin then they kick it again…totally awesome…
Seems to be my niche lately, and I'm not complaining. Lots of big players to come out of the seventies who are still highly regarded today, but still more who time seems to have sadly forgotten. Just doing my best small part in keeping them alive and in people's ears.
@@KellyDeanAllenGuitarAny chance you'd do some riffs from Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy? Maybe some heavy ones from the Renegade or Thunder and Lightning albums. Another guy might be Aldo Nova, like "Monkey on your back"?
When I was a kid, I rigged up the stereo system in my bedroom in the basement and hung speakers on each side of the bed. I would play this Montrose album until I wore out the grooves and had to buy another one. This is one of the albums that made me want to play Electric guitar. Oddly enough, the drummer in my first real band was a male stripper and I loaned him a Fender Mustang guitar that he used on stage to strip with to Rock Candy. He had more women than he knew what to do with so the rest of us got a lot of good leftovers. Thanks so much Kelly for showing us the song. A half hour later, you want another. Thanks again my friend.
The first Montrose album had a powerful and lasting impression on me. Ronnie's instrumental solo album The Speed of Sound is also impressibe. I noticed that the main riff uses similar notes as in Hair of the Dog. I didn't know that Ronnie died in such a tragic way. Sorry to hear that. Thanks Kelly for your comments in your tutorials. I find them informative. I also like your teaching style.
Love you channel my fellow Canadian. Any chance of doing a part 2 for the rest of the licks and solo? To me, that first album is the best classic rock album of all time. Not a dud on it. Do a series on the entire album. Now I'm getting greedy. Thanks for all your time and effort.
One of my all time favorite jams. Anything Sammy touches is gold in my eyes! Wish him & Kevin would have done it acoustic on the Lite Roast album cuz I think it would sound awesome!
Cool riff and awesome grinding the last three years! Whats your thoughts on the solo on «Thank you» BBC verdion by zeppelin? Allways loved that one and theres no lessons!

Ronnie used a 3x10 Bandmaster combo turned up to 11 with a Big Muff for this album...
Wearing a Fender Strat shirt while playing a mini-Les Paul style PRS. I dig it
