I better start applying for a job there, any job, doesn't matter what, I'm not fussy. I just love train stations. I can just imagine all the people coming and going, everyday will be quite exciting.
This station will have high-speed trains connecting to the eastern region of Chon Buri. And connected to the Isan region, which is Nakhon Ratchasima, with no connection to China and Singapore yet Because it will be built only in the country first.

Last I heard was that the High Speed Rail (HSR) between Malaysia and Singapore has been cancelled mostly due to cost, but also due to standardization. Singapore prefers a Japanese line but Malaysia, just like Thailand prefer the China HSRs which does not coordinate with the Japanese line. So they could not get into agreement. However the latest news states that Malaysia might be building a HSR on its own between its northern border with Thailand and its southernmost border, just before Singapore.
The design company (by Thai designer team) said it was very difficult to tell who built which part because it requires many companies for large projects this level. 😃

Actually both countries agreed mutually to cancel it. Because Singapore Airlines badly hit as well. So doesnt make sense to have a train that competes with planes in terms of time taken.
The HSR between Malaysia and Singapore is cancelled. However, Malaysia has plans to build it alone from the northern border with Thailand to the southern border of Malaysia.
Though it's good to see the progress, but I am still missing the old charms of Bangkok. People were friendly, costs of living was not so high and Patphong was so vibrant then.
Looks like it could be anywhere... I love to see trains arriving all over Bangkok (Yay, good for Bangkok!) but the overwhelming size and gray color doesn't impress me.... Thailand has a unique soul and it's not about huge impersonal spaces like this. When Bangkok looks and functions like every other world city I'll feel like the tradeoff has been too much
Exciting to see Thailand is finally moving into the 21st century of rail travel. Next level? No they skipped the intermediate levels between 1950 and today. It will be fantastic when the long distance trains are in service... but I believe that is still 7-8 yrs out? Thx for the update.
it says only 6-7 hours from Bangkok to Kunming, that is the same time you need to take an airplane. if the price is half of airplane, i will definitely choose train

Yes. This station is THE mother of all trains of Thailand. All rail lines from long distance train to HSR will converges here.
