This should be the standard, it's easy to do. Added a ratio of 4 to 1 you can add cement for reinforcement. The walls are up to 18 inches thick which eliminates the need for air conditioners. They are free from termites, earthquake and fire proof.
Wow! Beautiful place (but not quite as beautiful as the presenter ))), the sky must be amazing at night there. I will try squeeze a visit in on my next visit to coast once this travel lock down ends.
Yes there would be a minimal fee - but Chris is more interested to get young Kenyans out into these 'wild' places to experience and draw directly from nature. Come and draw a real live elephant!! Karibu sana.
Absolutely beautiful home, but this is NOT rammed earth. As she stated @1:20 the technique used here is interlocking bricks covered in a plaster all from thr earth of thr land. Thats called CEB, which is Compressed Earth Blocks.
Love the real advice " it's challenging ... because you don't just have to be an artist but you have to be a business person ... but these days with Instagram you can sell from your home "
This is what I want to see, afrikatus enjoying life in afrika, as it should be, it is our land, our home, for us and only for us. Indigenous americans (not white people)are the only ones who should be allowed to visit, and our afrikatu cousins in asia

Lol Sagalla hills my shags! I love the rammed earth. Been thinking about using this method of building an eco friendly off grid home .
Another one on the list! Cool that it's not far from town as well :)

Amazing architectural vibes

No windows? I wouldn't sleep there, no way. After watching that movie of Tsavo man eaters I just can't 😅 the house is beautiful though. Love it.
It does have windows
@@kaderathebeekeeper22m3 it doesn't, watch again, it's just a curtain. The lady said the house doesn't have windows.
😂😂😂
I have personally stayed and work their and it was a beautiful experience. Definitely going back
Chris's studio is sooo neat 😳.. QUESTION, is the art residency something one would need to pay for? If yes, how much?

Am new to this ,Welcoming subs,Nice place
Karibu!
How do they keep the walls from washing away with the rain. Even the driest places still get rain. I like the idea of the rammed earth house.
Water does not affect it, that is the beauty of it.
The roof and generous overhang of it help to protect it from the rains.
The house has a good hat and good boots to protect it from the elements.
Aish please take me on your next # first comment

Hello. This look good. Do you have the house builder's contact information? Thank you.
Damn which contractor did this project for them?
Designed and built by Chris using local unskilled labour
