    I did this on some glass sliders, but instead of painting which would have taken forever, I soaked the fabric in the solution and then hung it, worked great.

      Is it easy to remove? And does it causes damage to the window? I live in a rental apartment.

    I used this method and it worked fantastic. i taped the cut peices of lace to the bottom half of my large windows then applied the cornstarch glue with a 2.5 inch wide paintbrush. i made a much thicker glue than their recipe ie i put 4 tablespoons of corn starch into half cup of water mixed it up then poured that into 1.5 cups of boiling water..then after it thickened i poured it onto a large plate to cool off. i applied it when the glue was slightly warmer than room temperature seems to spread better. the thicker corn starch glue dries into a totally opaque (lets light in but cant see through it) gel so it meshes seamlessly with the lace so you can still see the lace pattern but cant see through the panel at all once its dried. you can remove the top tape once the whole panel is glued on and fill the taped part with the glue. any overspread of glue is quickly removed with clorox wipes without altering the cohesiveness of the glued on lace edge. Thumbs up ladies!!

    okay. so i tried again and it worked! Looks great. First I found another recipe that seemed to make a thicker glue. Also, I took the advice of another reviewer and this time I dipped the lace in the solution. It was so much easier to get to up, manipulate, and in place on the window. After I got the lace in place I let it dry for just a few (it's very hot here 100) and then I went over it with the solution and paintbrush for added coverage.
    2 tblsp cornstarch
    2 tblsp water
    Mix and disolve
    Add 1 1/2 cup boiling water
    Cool (I put mine in the freezer for a few)

    Great idea, Ladies. I want to do this on full length sliding glass doors. I'm planning to use painter's or light duct tape at the top to keep the lace upright on my windows. I'll start gluing the lace to the window beginning about two or three inches down. When that dries, I'll remove the tape and finish gluing the lace to the top of the window. Thanks for the inspiration!

    I did this but my Windows don't come out or down to do this my window has a handle crank that opened the window out. Gravity keeps the lace from staying on. It slides right off. So I used my hot glue gun and glued the lace across the top of the window. Once glue hardens you just paint brush on with gluey mixture you made. Also looks nice with trim on top and bottom of window. Use the glue gun again for doing this.

    BUT, I have to ask for clarification and to make sure it’s not me going crazy but which side of the window did you put the lace on, from what I can see is a more modern, up-to-date window with double glass.
    And, if so, you put it on the outside and essentially anyone can just come rip it off. It technically needs to be put on from the inside. I didn’t look to see if I was the only one with this problem throughout all of the comments but I will double check. And if you have resolved this problem, forgive me.😊

I have 2 front windows that I'd like to be able to sit at my desk and look out at the scenery but not have my neighbors who sometimes walk by be able to see me clearly. I don't care if it's a vague outline, just don't want to be that visible. Any suggestions? I plan to use either shutters or blinds but that doesn't solve the problem.

    I did this last year on my kitchen window and my living room window. Works like a dream, however, my kitchen window is a single pane and, with condensation, got moldy. Any suggestions to avoid that? My living room window is still going strong only thing is the edges are slightly pulling up where the window opens .

      The Lace isn't paper, so it'll hold against water. The only thing you need to be worried about is taking away the corn starch, which holds it to the glass! Waterproof isn't quite the right word, but it should hold a few cleanings. Push come to shove, you just add more adhesive (in a thin layer) when you're done!

    • @thecoralchannel
      @thecoralchannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the wall paper glue try this;
      1 1/2 cups white flour
      1/2 cup sugar
      1 Tbsp alum*
      3 cups of water

    Since the lace and starch-glue is being placed on the exterior portion of the glass -- can you please tell us how it's going to 'hold up' when it rains all day and night in your part of the world? I don't see this surviving the elements.
    You could have just purchased some of that decorative window film found at Lowes or Home Depot and easily applied that on the inside of the window with some soap and water. And, if you wanted to take it down, all you have to do is simply peel it off.
    Placing this fabric on the outside of the window is a waste of time, it will probably come right off with the first rain.

      Yeah I'm wondering the same thing, this doesn't seem like it would hold up outside a desert/Med climate. Certainly not here in New England

      +Jaden Lowe It's been up for a few weeks so far and has survived several rainstorms already without any damage. I'm keeping an eye on it though. someone wrote on here that she had a problem with the lace panel sliding down when she was applying it so she ran a bead of hot glue across the top to hold the lace. Then started painting on the cornstarch mixture. That should work for you.

    • @chatinwithcatherine
      @chatinwithcatherine 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I couldn't answer that for you Elaine because I haven't tried any larger sizes but if you could lay the window flat while it dries I bet it would be more likely to hold up.
