The main problem with generic cards is Bushiroad copying the homework of western Konami by making them high rarity cards, at the point that even the jp player base was calling them out.

Lol even non-generic legacy support. Dragon Master Magia was a normal card in the OCG (and Master Duel) but ONLY comes in quarter century secret rare (SEC/DSR equivalent) in the TCG and is a $500 card for Blue Eyes of all decks

@@Schmaglow in that case, it is the problem of making functionally unique cards highly exclusive/inaccessible. Dragon Master Magia was my last straw with Konami, any interaction I will have with that game will be without cost to me.

Generic cards should not be staples. They are there to fill a slot until something more cohesive comes to bolster the deck's playstyle. If the utility of a generic card turns out to be really important, then the answer is to make it more accessible because generic cards can fit in more places than archetype specific ones and will need more copies to fill those roles.

As someone who built Ezel when D-BT11 came out & got Teithfallt for basically less than $2 each, I'm sorta glad that it became sought after since I managed to sell off my excess Teithfallts when Japan started to use them alot in their decks. But I do understand that an old card suddenly becoming mandatory overnight isn't really player friendly & it incentivizes hoarding. I agree that nation generic staples should still exist, but should have low rarity.

It really does feel like generic RRs these days are either extremely niche or just have unnecessary restrictions to make them almost unplayable. I remember the first wave of them back in set 9 were solid, and then Bushi decided they saw too much play as 1-2 of tech cards (even though that was their purpose...) and are now intentionally making them useless. I strongly agree that generics should always be at RR or lower. All those leftover RRR slots that would've gone to said generics should go towards support cards for older decks. Sure, pulling RRR generics from a box feels amazing, but I also know that having a pet deck that gets no support feels like shit. Between those two, I'd much rather give old decks support. It's a bigger net positive for players old and new that way. Veterans get to keep updating old decks, and new players won't have to worry as much about the first deck they chose not receiving any future support.

this is a very ideal situation which is not really feasible, even if it is your deck still suck since they can intentionally insert a donothing RRR which damage the set and shops and later on offset this by making a dump fuck promos that costed around the same as sajess this is a lose lose situation

To me it seems that instead of reprinting gun cyclers Bushiroad is instead trying to make cards that use energy in-archetype so that you'll want to replace the gun cyclers with them or at least have to think about which cards utilize energy better in your deck when deckbuilding. Of course there are 342t34678246 archetypes so it's going to take a while for every deck to receive these kinds of cards. Still, it wouldn't hurt to reprint the gun cyclers in the meantime until the older archetypes receive energy support suited to their strategy.

Archetype support should be stronger than generic support. If Teithfalt gains 10k power Nobia should get 15k power for example. Otherwise there's no reason to play archetype support over generic support. Personally I like deck design like Jheva where you has to play its pieces and maybe tech in 1 or 2 generic cards. That way we get more deck play style variation than say Keter pile

I was super excited that I pulled the Hikari Art version of Liael=Amorta (My first ever character art card, yay!), but every time I looked at possible lists, it was just the Keter Pile/Order Package with Liael tossed in. It's not a Liael Deck, it's Keter Pile featuring Liael. So disheartening.

Just make generic RRRs be reprinted every 5-6 months later after their release. And make them commons or smth so people that bought the RRR would still have the original print in foil and they still were able to play with it for a long time. And instead of putting effect PGs and triggers into a random start deck. Just put them into the reprint set. It would be an amazing beginner entry product twice a year that not an outright scam. And if they wanna do like one per box an effect PG will be replaced with elementaria or a trigger instead will be some energy generator with a characters face in it. Fine, go ahead I can understand.

One thing that irritates me besides the generics are cards that are meant for their respective archetypes (Inlet Pulse for Flagburg and Bifrons for Almajestar) wind up being used in other decks that causes the prices to spike because of it. I wish Bushiroad would keep these certain cards only to be locked to their own archetype they were meant for.

Ok WeissSchwarz and shadow verse in japan. Bushiroad change amount of packs and amount of boxes per case. Nothing has changed to vanguard as of right now.

If generic staples that you need for every deck would be RR, nothing would change. Per case you get the same amount of RR as you do get RRR for individual cards. So you only end up with 5-6 of each RR and 5-6 of each RRR.
