Bavaria! Like in Germany!? That’s too cool!!!! Thank you for the kind words. I sure try to be somewhat entertaining and informative. Thank you for watching waaaaaaaay over there!!!!!
I really like it when Lori is with you. She just brightens it up. I have been married 40 years and we dont work together as well as you two. You guys are lucky.
Great video ! That’s perfect way to get your circle! The sand would hold the tower in place, but a slab on grade will keep it perfectly plumb. Beautiful windmill! Thanks for the video
Haha never does!!!!!!! What’s crazy if you notice is the high clouds were headed north, and the lower fluffy clouds were headed south!!! Beats me!!!!! Thank you!
Man thats one big rig, truck and tower, yes i do miss Braums, not in Texas where i live, when my mom was in Moore, it was just down the street, cant wait to see this one up and running.
Thank you! Yep, we treat every job as our own. This makes it good all the way around, we’re content with a job well done, and the customer is always happy.
Another great video. I know where Luther Rd is I graduated from Luther High in 1986. Only got there in my junior year after graduation I left to join the military.
We have sand and clay here. Our frost line is 42 inches. I hand dug 60 " and mushroomed out the bottoms. Mostly sand here also where our mill is located. Now our tower is 3 legged and only about 16 foot, but I only wanted to this work one time, so we went the extra mile. I installed a 10 inch foot, and a galvanized bolt 20 inches up from the bottom just for a little extra support. Once the legs were lowered into the holes, they were braced to keep the proper shape for the tower. Then my cement guy came with a custom mixer, and did a custom blend of concrete, and we filled them right to the top. This will be the 4th winter, and nothing has shown any signs of heaving. That mill of yours is a monster compared to mine, but I'm sure yours will be just as strong as mine, or even better. 😉🤙 Looking forward to seeing that monster spinning. 😆
You did a textbook installation! Belled bottom and concrete! If it’s Masonite this long, it isn’t going anywhere!!!!! This one is a beast, but no more difficult, so good job Sir! I like to see people accept a challenge!
This has been a big project for you both and fun watch enjoying it very much 👍🏻 waiting for the next video. Health and good times to whole family.enjoy each day together!
Thank you Sir! Yes it’s been a doozy while trying to keep all the other customers happy at the same time. A great project and now they think the wants bigger one on another property……I’m already looking forward to it!!!!!😀
Great video. Shows what you go through to try and figure out the best outcome. Lori's truck! I know how that works. When you buy something expensive for the company you name it for your wife to soften the blow and keep her from getting too mad. I'll be looking for the next edition to show up. Take care and remember to try and have a little fun every day, jack
Thank you Jack! Yep she doesn’t drive it, but she likes to run it!!! So it’s hers! We make every day fun being together. Even if it’s a tough day, we’re still side by side!!!!
That tower will crumple in the wind before uplift has any affect. I do like me some tasty ice cream. We generally try to find a place that serves Blue Bell - that little creamery near Brenham. It's good and good for you!!! Thanks so much for the video.
Yes sir!!! I have seen these things twist and hit the ground without any movement to the anchors, even without a concrete pad! This ole hard Oklahoma ground is pretty sturdy!!!!!! Oh man, do I love me some ice cream!!!!!! Hahaha I say the same thing, it’s good AND good for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for watching!!!!!!!!
A very easy way is to set a point away from the center of the well like you did, then put a nice 60 penny spike in that spot, then using that as a pivot, strike an arc 10 feet away, in both directions about where you imagine your circumference to be. Then measure (in this case 6'8") away from the pipe intersecting both of these arcs. You now have the location for three of the legs...mark each with more 60 penny spikes. Finally strike two more 10 foot arcs opposite the side of the well casing where you began. this will be the fourth leg location.
Nice work. I learned surveying from a Navaho Indian. You'd be surprised how often you use a Lariat to lay out circles. On/off ramps, stadiums.... : A 10.5" circle ? pull out a lariat. :)
Shane ya never have to worry if someone else approves of your work. That's why it's your work. Besides if it works was it really a dumb idea?? 😂🤷 You have been doing then a long time sir so I trust your skills and know how on what your process is. Even if you danced around waving chicken feet as long as it was square and as perfect as you can get it and it looked good then by God wave em!!! 😂😂😂 Miss Lori but you sir are definitely entertaining nonetheless! Please sir continue entertaining us 🙏
Man thank you Sir!!! I love hearing good comments like this! Yep we get a lot of comments moments from people that know better, but it’s how we do it, and we are comfortable doing it, so we will do it how we do it! That was a lot more f do it’s!!!! Thank you for sticking around with us!!!!!
Oh man I love this truck. It’s a 2008 model, so it’s been abused a bit by years of linemen using it in Missouri, but it still does everything I ask it to do!!!!!! Thank you for watching!
They would dig a little hole with their hand about 8 inches deep and tie a couple knots in the reins just far enough the horse couldn’t raise its head and tighten it up and then pack sand in around the knot. As long as the horse could not pull straight up it will hold it .
If measuring this way was good enough for the Ancient Egyptian and the Romans it will serve you well friend keep doing it your way until you find a better way ?it will be a long tie coming though !
Hahaha yes sir!!!! I figured as much also! It gets the job done, and it didn’t cost me anything but a piece of baler twine which is really cheap!!!!! Thank you!!!!
For as often as you mention The name Vice grip the company should sponsor you. lol There is usually not five minutes go by without you using them. Enjoy your posting keep it up... I know your very busy.... With that being said. Maybe one day over time you, or you and other Windmillers design a windmill of your own that might be an improvement over the original Ones. This improvement might be a challenge because the current one are so great. But it might Be time to improve. Just my mind thinking out load......lol
Thank you sir! Hahah I would love them to sponsor me!!!!!! Maybe one day they will hear about us! Yep I don’t k ow if I’m smart enough to reinvent the wheel, but it’s pretty amazing and unchanged from really 1915! Thank you for watching!!!!
Try putting a 50# sack of Bentonite mixed with H2O mix while tuneing up the hole then come out slow in reverse and you wil really like your holes also weld some anchors at an up an. tryit youl like it !gle and set to grade and fill back your hole
I know wind is a powerful force, but it seems hard to image even backfilled with sand that the windmill would be moved by any wind. Seems a wind that strong would destroy the upper parts first..
Yep that’s really what happens, at least the ones I have dealt with. The only one I’ve seen uprooted was only anchored in slick 5 gallon buckets buried flush with the ground. I think you could have pushed that one over by hand!!!!
What does a big tower and Aermeter of that size cost? Installation fees, etc, vary. The towers and wind pump I would think, would have similar prices. Thank you.
Howdy there! List price on 14’ mill is $16,926. 40’ tower list price is $8184. Not a cheap investment. Yes, after well, installation, pipe, pump, concrete, etc you could be in 40-50k.
Is there much price difference between solar well and wind pump? I seen a statement that over time a solar well is much cheaper than wind. ps As a Texan I prefer Braums over whataburger
For both new installs, a solar is roughly half the price. With a windmill, if the owners doesn’t want to climb, they need a windmiller once a year. Solar is much cheaper. But, can’t beat the look and nostalgia of a windmill!
@@OkieWindmiller I hear that water mills are nice, generators are not! Thanks for the info. Puddins channel sent me here, If you want to grow more maybe collab with Arms Family homestead he has almost 1 million subscribers and an old well that could use your expertise, he lives in Sulfur OK. not sure how far that is from you.
You are an awesome hard working, dedicated windmiller. But I've noticed that it cost you a considerable amount of time by yourself. I could tell you missed your partner.
Man more than you know!!!! She just makes me right, you know? I don’t think straight and just don’t function well without her. I still get things done, just not as efficiently.. thank you for your kind words. I love hearing that!!!!!
Stand the windmill up then use a plumbing Bob to the center of the well. Seems that would be quicker. Just a thot. I'm sure there's something I'm missing.
Nope! You’re 100% correct! That works great, but you still have to make sure it’s also plumb, so you can make an X out of rope between the legs, then move all that to the center. Our way is by far easiest, but hey, whatever works!!!!! Thank you Sir!
Shane next time just setup tower push in ground make the spot pull out the tower start dig in skip all math from I could see you waste lot time talking more work is better to work smart not harder work
So I do that on towers that are smaller and I can completely lift with the anchors installed. This one I couldn’t lift it high enough to have the anchors on and you have to be able to set it back down. Also I was by myself. This tower wasn’t easy to handle as you may think. 😀. I’ve don’t all this enough times to know all the tricks to save time, but this one was a little different….. thank you for the suggestion!
Looks like a long day for you. You're a good man, doing a good job for your clients. Thanks for taking us along.
