Absolutely a beautiful windmill and a beautiful job done by two great people. What a pleasure to see the two of you work so well together and have such a great time. You should be very proud of yourselves! Windmills rock!!
Those concrete guys did a great job.Glad to see Lori back on the job. This was a awesome video,I never get tired of watching another great job Lori and Shane !!👍👍
Shane you best thank the stars for Lori she is always busy getting things done to make the job easier the windmill looks great you two did a great job on this monster.
Windmills a Beauty 👍😎👍 The satisfaction of seeing your hard work come together and not only look beautiful but work properly is a great feeling. 🙏 Blessings y'all 🙏
I normally watch 2 or 3 videos before I subscribe. However there are a few channels that I have instantly enjoyed and subscribed to. Yours , I was hooked the first time I saw your wife helping lay out and pick up tools and the teamwork yall have going. Love your voice, it's perfect for this venue. Definitely enjoy the pride you both take in your work. I really do think you both were more excited than the customer was. Yall do the "okie" justice with your work ethics. Thank you for deciding to do TH-cam and display your talents and knowledge for the world to enjoy. Appreciate the acknowledgement to all the 40 hour folks that keep this country moving. I have used Able crane service in the past and he always does quality work. I can work up to about 30' without issues but after that I start cringing. That safety belt or your harness, the criticism aside, are a welcome sight. I know your wife appreciates it. Thanks again for the channel. Extremely good content and very enjoyable.
Man thank you for all of that!!! Makes our day! We weren’t sure we were cut out for this, but you help us realize otherwise. We love what we do(mostly), and hope it shows! Thank you again!!!!!
You and your wife are so amazing and are obviously awesome people. So happy Puddin' clued us into you. I so enjoy watching your content. I'm in the IT world working in LA, CA. This is so different and enjoyable to me. Thank you!
That windmill didn't look that big on the ground but when that crane picked it up it was huge. Absolutely awesome, fantastic best ever thanks for posting. You Guys are great
I love sunrises. When we had the family farm (50-60s) we would often pause the morning milking to watch the sunrise over the hill behind our house. I was early-mid teens.
I loved seeing that you start work at a reasonable hour. I am currently in the Caucasus, where I could lay down and roll across the busiest street in this country, at sunrise, and not worry about getting hit by any vehicle. Then they wonder why nothing gets done.
Hahahah yep, we have to so we can get a head start on the heat!!!!! We would love to be able to sleep in like many do, but we aren’t wired that way, even on our days off, up at 5 or so! Thank you for your kind words. Thank you for watching waaaay over there!!!!
I think, I have seen all of your videos and every step you take to install a windmill, but never forget someone who just found your channel. When I first watched I found everything you did very interesting and still do. Bypassing the steps involved because of repetitiveness may cause a potential subscriber to go elsewhere. Maybe say, if you are a first-time visitor take a look at our previous videos. As for me I will always watch You 2 great job, great videos never quit.
I have a thing about language and thank you for the our effort to improve . That says, seak as you wish. Local dialects are interesting. Thanks for your content. I've learned a lot watching you 👍.
Wow ! Years ago myself and a old windmill guy installed a 30 foot tower , a 8 Demster mill , all we had was a little home made jig and a car winch with a 12volt battery , lifted the motor only , attached it . Lifted the blades one by one and assembled everything 30 feet up , not a lot of room for two people, and windy . That’s the truth. I’m 80 in September. Suck it up.oh yeah ! Dug the holes and mixed bags of cement , a but load and it was hotter than hell that day . Try handing out there in no man’s land and installing the tail . Suck it up Girls
I sure like watching your channel I don't like high places but it's cool watching you and your right hand gal how she has all your tools ready and how you two work so well together
Thank you Sir! I don’t mind heights luckily! I’m so glad y’all like watching us, making this whole thing we’re doing worth it!!!!! Isn’t she amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! So we think they’re changing to a 16 on a 47’ tower. It can be gotten here in the Texas within a week or 2. The new 20 would have to come from Mexico. It’s a good mill but takes a while to get.
Great job, that looks really fantastic. The cameras just can not do it justice. The further away shots were the best when both cranes were up. Drone footage would be over the top, especially when you are up at the peak.
Great job. Finally finished one and the wind didn't die! You might not care for the insurance costs for that crane. A guy I know mentioned that the liability insurance costs were through the roof. He was glad to have it when they dropped an air conditioner through a roof though. I think it will really be something if you do a 20 foot 'mill. How tall of a tower would be correct for one that large? You two deserve a rest after this job, jack
Continuing our previous convo…if a parson was to get a motor powered pump jack they could use a 12 24 or 48 VDC motor with the pump…then it would be all off grid running primarily off of solar…of course with a charge controller and a battery….thats a lot of head and dependability not to use these pumps….and you could press your own leathers…
Great job, I thought your rig was big until I saw it next to the Able Crane , then yours looked like a baby crane! ;) I was wondering since you cut the PVC well pipe off flush with the concrete, did you seal it or did the well cover have a seal so contaminates can't get in ? have a great day, you know it's big when you have to stand in the next county to get it all in the frame !!! ;) If you upgrade your crane, be sure to get one with a remote !!! save all that up and down climbing when Lori's not there.
Yep, I use a bead of roofing tar. It stops 99% but nothing is 100%. Hahah you know that’s right! It’s such a nice looking machine for sure!!! I bet it’s a while now before I get to upgrade!!!!! 😀
Just wait till you see pumpcrete. A guy stands and moves a hose around and the crete pours out of the end of the hose. Its great for basements etc because you just need a window to pass the hose thru and he just walks around. They can pump it over top of a house to do stuff in the backyard. It has been in Canada for a long while. I think it was invented here (i'm not sure).
I want to thank you for your safety belt. I hope you use it even on the smaller ones and yes that belt is perfect. You can hook your safety rope around it and lean back and work with 2 hands and after you get used to it you won’t go up with out it. Have you ever talked to anybody that lives on SS income disability? I worked for a doctor that was putting up Christmas lights on his 2 story gutters and fell off the ladder and broke both ankles. The emergency room doctor told him he will never be able to walk again. But he went to New York to some doctors that could help him and he said with them and the lord he was able to walk but I don’t know many of us can afford all that.
Yep and I don’t want any part of it!!!!!!!! I’ve had and used this little belt for a long time. Super easy to use. But still, a windmill isn’t the textbook place to anchor yourself to, you have to always be moving your lanyard. But, I’m getting better!!!!😀
You guys did a really nice job on this unit, it looks good. When these mills are set down on the mast, are they held in place by the shear weight of the mill? I keep looking to see if there is a threaded nut on top of the mast or some kind of locking collar.
Thank you! There are internal threads on the mast pipe and once the mill is set on top, there is a hollow bolt (best way to describe it) with big washer that threads in. That’s what keeps it down. 😀
You’d rather dig in rock? I grew up setting telephone poles, by hand, in the Catskill Mountains, with a bar and a post hole digger. I think either medium is just something different to deal with. My digging was harder, but you dig more to keep clearing sand. It’s just not fun digging holes. But windmills are awesome!
Haha digging holes is 100% no fun!!! You are correct! I can’t imaging doing the work you did! I bet you’re glad those days are over!!!! Thank you for watching!!!
I could not agree more, "GORGEOUS"!! I know it would have been a pain, but I would have enjoyed you having a camera on top while setting the mill. Question: How did you keep the tower steady and plumb while waiting for concrete?
Yes we need a drone!!!!! We need to also add a second camera so Lori can hold one and I can have one on my noggin. So off camera, late that evening after Lori got there, we mixed about 40 bags of fast setting concrete and encapsulated the feet so it had a better chance to not move. But the day of the final, we checked everything out for squareness and plumb, and it was still perfect. Usually window everything in one day so we don’t have to worry about it moving. Thank you for watching!
I know you were excited to be working with some new hardware for a change - and a nice big one at that! Top notch installation from beginning to end. You said the tank would be full by evening - so what happens to the excess? Is there a pond somewhere near? Does the owner generally let these windmills run non-stop, or do they come out and shut them down for a time? I'm glad you mentioned wearing a harness - I was afraid I might have to ask... Good luck with your channel making some money! How many subs will you need to afford a 150 ft crane?!?
Hahahaha a bunch to afford that bad boy! So the water goes out of the tank and to the pond down the hill. It’s probably 50/50 on whether they turn it off or leave it on. Some have a tank and don’t want a mess(same at our place), so they turn it off when full. Some let it run to help fight the low ponds.😀
With all the positivity you spread (which I like and appreciate) I don’t want to be that “guy”. But hoss that concrete is way too green to be putting that much stress on that soon. Best practices are two pours with the piers and legs on one pour and the slab as second pour. You can do it all in one like you did but give it at least seven days to get some moisture out. It all depends on the mix, weather conditions etc. but if the concrete fails it’s a big bite to swallow in profits down the road. Wish you well in all things.
This was a full week between pour and them pulling the forms so we could use it. It just doesn’t show that on the video. The concrete guys were the ones behind that. They knew the load it had on it I guess and wouldn’t let us use it. 😀
@@OkieWindmillerI only had the visual of the concrete on the video which may not have shown any bleaching as it still looked green. Videos are known to not show everything as accurate. My bad
No you’re good man! I actually was surprised when I drilled for the bolts that it was dust all the way down. I was worried 1 week wasn’t enough but they said you’re good, so we did it! Thanks again and have a great day!

Hey there, another great video Shane and Lori. That 14 ft looks great in the wind. Thanks again.

Amazing job guys.
Hehe it’s not so bad. I love it!!!! Thank you for watching!!!!
Nice job! Cheaper to rent the crane than owning for your business.

Excellent series on this one !!!
I really enjoyed it !!!
I know the legs are adequate, they just look so spindly compared to the size of this one.

Yes you need a bigger crane, especially if you’re gonna do bigger windmills, that windmill is awesome.
See exactly what I’m saying!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!
The open side of the frame makes things so much easier it looks like
Oh man, like night and day! I would love changing pipe if it was this easy on every tower!!!!
Cheaper to rent if you don't us it all the time great videos stay safe
Yes I guess y’all are right……..🥺. Thank you sir and we will!!!!
I could watch you and your cutie all day every day.
Man yeah! Thank you!! I know she is everybody’s favorite hahaha!
That is beautiful!!!!!
Thank you!!!!
The one thing I believe is beneficial is raise the re-bar a couple of inches to get it in the concrete, make for a stronger pad...
They did(or were while I was there). While pouring it, a fella was using a hook to grab it and lift it. Good eye! Thank you for watching!!!!!!!
another job well done guys.
Thank you!!!!😊
Can't wait for the 20fter1🥰. Hopefully it goes on a 40ft Tower

Man yeah! That would work 100%!!!!! It’s no different except there are no wires and a very expensive pump down the well!
you should bring a pitcher with you so you could measure and show us how much water comes out per stroke
Good idea!!! Like a gallon or so! Thank you!!! This one on the short stroke is 353 gph, or roughly .218 gallons per stroke !

It is ran to the pond to the south.

Nope! Since it’s all steel all the way to the pump)except for the fiberglass rods) it should be safe. 😀
Did they lift the rebar up?
Yeah they did! With a hoe as they were walking along they did real good!

Yes sir you’re welcome! That’s a scary story nobody should have to experience!
👍👍
Thank you kind Sir!
