Akihiko's new voice is deep like that of a grizzled 30-year old man. It will grow on us for sure but it is very different from the old voice's subtler tone.
@@OneLastScholar The thing is that Kaggy (Alejandro) voices him now. He and Zeno talked about what would happen if Persona 3 got a reboot a few years ago and I was talking about a reboot/remake with new VAs voicing the iconic characters. I wish I would have voiced Shinjiro, If I could have gone pro after my 11th year in voice-over. Because I would love to voice act with Allegra and Alejandro.
I genuinely thought that was Chidori speaking to Junpei, not Fuuka. Either it's because we've only gotten a few clips of Suzie Yeung as Fuuka, or she's good at controlling her voice and injecting the appropriate emotion into her lines.
I’m really going to miss the old cast, but I feel particularly bad for Michelle Ruff not returning to voice Yukari when she not too long ago had a conversation about ageism in the industry and how she’s getting fewer roles than when she did in the 2000s even though her voice still sounds the same.
Honestly, as talented as the new cast is, I do feel like its pretty unfair to the original cast overall to have just been fully replaced when the vast majority of them are not only still active in the industry but have been doing years worth of spinoffs as these characters. It just feels really disrespectful that, compared to the japanese industry where you lock into your role for life basically, english voice actors get replaced for no actual reason.
They're really doing it to appeal to new age persona 5 fans. Because in my experience, they're probably the worst part of the fandom, and the very large vocal part of the group. So what they want tends to be heard the most.

Aleks as Makoto is downright perfect, he brings the perfect energy and his Pharos voice was so spot on we literally thought it was Yuri, he's gonna do great. Zeno as Junpei is GREAT. Some lines you can barely tell the difference and others he has such great energy I don't even care, definitely looking forward to more of him. Heather as Yukari is also good, noticeably different but again, very similar energy to the original which is good. Alexandro as Akihiko I'm eh on. I see what they're doing but he's too deep, he sounds like he's 17 going on 30. Plus Liam O'Brien's performance is just so iconic, it's going to be hard to live up to. Allegra is PERFECT as Mitsuru. No notes. Suzie is also perfect as Fuuka, she's so cute. And unfortunately Fuuka's acting was the subject of some ridicule in the original ("*gasp* The enemy!") so, nowhere to go but up I suppose, lol. No shade to Paula Tiso but, you know. Justine as Ken... needs work. He sounds way too much like a girl, but maybe these just weren't good examples. If you have a keen ear you could tell he was voiced by a woman in the original too but, at the very least it was a Bart Simpson/Ash Ketchum tier boy voice. Ken just straight up sounds like a girl. Dawn as Aegis I'll have to see more of, I think she's good, but Karen is a tough act to follow, she felt MADE for that role. I hope the clip we hear is post-Moonlight Bridge like people are saying because Aegis without barely ANY robotic intonation just doesn't feel right. Justice as Shinji I like, obviously will have to hear more but I like his take on him. Truth be told Grant as Shinji was sometimes distracting, not only because of his weirdly nasally, almost nerdy voice (which I don't think is bad, always just struck me as an "interesting choice") but also because he voices so many background characters as well, lol. So looking forward to more of Justice. Whoever voices Ikutsuki is... okay. Saying it a lot but gotta hear more, my first impression is that he sounds both less suspicious, but also like the kind of guy who wouldn't crack the puns Ikutsuki is known for, lol. Gonna be weird to get used to but, I'm receptive to it.
Yuri knew he was going to be replaced but was over the moon when he heard it was Aleks, the guy he actually mentored and was a long friend of Yuri’s. Yuri told him he was beyond proud when he heard it was Aleks voicing him, and Aleks cried when he heard this.
Had the same thought on Ken. He does sounds more mature but aren't his maturity supposed to be overshadow by his age? I can't imagine anyone not taking him seriously with that voice.
Akihiko, Fuuka, Ken and Shinjiro all sound so radically different from their originals. Akihiko's is the only one where I'm a bit iffy because it sounds too low for him. Fuuka and Shinji's new voices sound closer to their Japanese counterparts and to be honest, prefer these voices. Ken's is... fine.
Sae Niijima was Elizabeth Maxwell. I only know Allegra Clark as Dorothea Arnault and Shamir Nevrand from Fire Emblem Thre Houses. This Mitsuru sounds like a slightly less emotionless Shamir to me.
I have reservations over Akihiko's voice like most people but I'm holding out hope because Alejandro's voice isn't yelling in the fire of battle and is still in the beginning explaining to MC
I wonder what it would sound like if Akahiko Sanada's original voice actor Said something wild and out of left field like "Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter" but he would never say something so foolish, right?
Ngl, I liked Ikutsuki's og voice better. He definitely brings some deceit to his voice, because it's way too comforting and a guy who does puns at almost every opportunity, you'd never realized he was actually a bad guy (maybe if Atlus didn't show the scenes where he's muttering to himself then maybe the reveal would've been more shocking). The new voice just sounds a bit more sinister.
I liked the old voice because it felt like he was laying it on a bit too thick, he was trying to seem friendly to the point I felt a bit uncomfortable around him. I think thats the one that can make a big difference in how potentially new fans view his character before the twist.
@@neymiiie in other words, there's a lot to like about the old voice. But who knows, maybe I'll come to like the new one. I doubt I'll ever get used to Akihiko's new voice though, it just doesn't have that same youthful energy when Liam voiced him
think the new voice is kind of a full scope revision, the cringy puns doesn't blend with the later parts of the story and wasn't thought out his role by that point and Ikutsuki isn't really an adachi personality to make it natural after the twist
In the trailer, I thought Ken’s line of wanting to use his power (2:24) was Mitsuru speaking, especially in the “Take this seriously.” I think it’s going to take some time for me to get used to this one…
my thing is, with the old cast they had THAT certain flair to the delivery. even more so with the male character voices that made it stick. In no way does it take away from the work of the current crew, but in some instances it just comes off as like normal speak for me. I had this kind of view while playing RE 2 remake and feeling like it was just normal speak and not a sick ass delivery. but im thinking this is just something that happens in the west releases. for example the voice of dante in the DMC series- Reuben Langdon was so perfect in its delivery that it stuck for the subsequent games past 3. something thats very in line with the jp side of things. in another media form as an easy example being goku from the dragon ball series. in which it is still nozawa masako. and if im correct in my assumption the jp side of persona 3 reload should still be the og crew set that they had for the original persona 3.
I like that they brought some of the old VAs back to voice minor characters. It's like a movie remake or reboot bringing back the old actors for cameos.
I like how they all turned out. i do wish yukari had just a tad bit more snap to it though. and akihiko is different , but not in a bad way. his is more smooth than what im used too.
You know... I think changing *all* the main cast instead of just recasting a few or redoing lines was probably the right call. I'm typically against these kinds of changes, but expanding content is difficult while still using old voice actors or trying to get them back. If even one person doesn't come back, the whole game feels wrong whenever they're present. Also the fact that they kept on the voice actors and didn't "replace" them so much as redistributed them through the game, while a little weird (because you'll hear their voice coming out of the wrong person's mouth), makes it much easier to accept for me because I don't feel like the old cast is being disrespected by being tossed aside for amateurs. I don't think all of the voices are great, Ken sounds a bit strange to me, but it's only because of how unique his original voice is so any changes are going to be odd. Yet I do think most of the voices are pretty good, at least from these clips alone. I could live with this. As opposed to Persona 4 Golden which royally fucked some lines and changed the tone of one or two characters too much (Chie mostly, but also Shadow Teddie... blech), I think there's so much going on here that I won't fixate on the flaws as much when/if I decide to play this. Yeah... I can definitely live with this. Smart call.
The new Akihiko VA does a fine job as a VA, but the difference between original Akihiko and new Akihiko is going to make this a really hard sell for me, given that if it's not obvious from my avatar, he's my favorite Persona character of all time.
This video made me realize that it was Shinji talking at the start of the 1st reload trailer, and after playing the game that's so damn heartbreaking (never played og p3 so I didn't see what happened to him coming)
Old Akihiko is a fighter, always gung-ho, straight to the action, battle-crazed, dependable senpai (in combat). New Akihiko is a schemer, a thinker, someone who just wants a cup of coffee, dependable senpai.
Just finished this gem and the dlc and man all the voice actors did well in my book enjoyed the game and I really love this persona game since it was my first one.
WITTLE GOBWIN 🥰🥰🥰 I can’t ynhear it from makoto but I love it Also the new junpei is a MASSIVE fan of persona 3 when he announced it on Twitter there were like 5 paragraphs of hype it awesome
I KNEW IT!! I haven't checked who's the voice actors in the reload but when I saw a clip of Akihiko I immediately knew 1:11 (was literally like why is his voice SO familiar)
I really love the new cast. I was afraid I’d miss the old cast too much or that it would be distracting, but the more I play Reload, the more I prefer this new cast.
This new cast is overall pretty hype. Aleks Le, Zeno Robinson, Alejandro Saab, and Dawn M. Bennett are voice actors I’m very fond of and I think they all kill it in their respective roles! It’s also a great excuse to replace Vic and Karen Strassman (Yes I know Karen still voices an NPC but at least she’s not a prominent character anymore)
i think they’re really good!! i think they got a slightly better understanding of the characters in reload, as they ironed out some flaws in voices like junpei and mitsuru and completely redid some like Fuuka and Shuji! i also like how they made ken more mature and made aigis sound more robotic yet still human and emotional at the same time. a lot of people seem to have a bit of an issue with akihiko, but i think the deeper voice really fits him and his maturity without sounding as old as some people say (imo).
Everyone talking about how great the new voice actors are but I’m just here happy to see that Yuri Lowenthal is still going to be a part of this game ❤ EDIT: Just kidding guys I saw the updated pinned comment LOL
Im surprised he is still able to pull off that voice. I recall him struggling as Haseo in the last .hack GU chapter (Unless theyre just using voice clips)
He is?? That rocks, who does he voice? I must have missed it Edit: nvm, pinned comment corrects the video that Aleks also voices Pharos. His impression was just THAT good, which is a good sign. I also thought it was Yuri reprising his role when I first saw the trailer, lol
i never thought I'd PREFER a new voice over the old one but WOW shinjiro's voice is perfect. it feels more like how I'd imagine his voice to be; the old voice always felt a little off to me im SO hyped for the new cast i think all of them have done an incredible job making it feel like the same characters, but also making the voices something original and new
I was in the chat for a livestream Michelle did on Instagram. The short version is that it wasn’t Atlus’s decision - Sega mandated that a “younger/fresher” cast be brought in for the remake. She and the rest of the OG VAs only found out about it via phone call. Considering how much she loved voicing Yukari, as well as how vocal she is about ageism in the voice acting industry, you can imagine that it really stung for her to be told that she was too old to return at age 56. Especially since many of the Japanese voice actors are around that age and they all came back.
I think the reason why some VAs sound off is because we're so used to them after all these years. I don't hate akihiko's new voice but P3 has so much emotional driven dialogue that until we see those special moments, I think it's a little unfair to judge from just these clips alone.
Alejandro should've made Akihiko's voice a little higher. Closer to his original voice. I wonder if he decided to go that route or he was directed to be that way? Still love him as Cyno.

Im very sad that Yuri wont be voicing in the newest game. Hes a phenomenal voice actor
Think he’s Yukari’s father? Or someone’s father I think.
Considering he's voicing pharos I'm hoping he also voices a specific late game character.
LIAM O’BRIEN DID AKIHIKOS VOICE??? WHAT HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS
Good question
Matt Mercer is Yusuke from P5 and Laura Bailey is Rise from P4. Critical Role has had a lot of VAs with Persona credentials 😊
@@hdkieueveryone except Ashley and Tal actually
@@Direwolf181wait, WHAT?!! Who are the characters that the other critical role VA’s voiced? I looked it up but I’m only getting the Japanese voice actors for some reason
@@dairyqueen8402 Travis was Theo in P3P Marisha is the current voice for Margret and Sam is Teddie from P4 the Animation onwards
Laura is of course Rise Kujikawa in P4 (and the FeMC Kotone Shiomi from P3P
Liam was Akihiko in P3
Matt is Yusuke(and Kanji from the second half of P4 the Animation and everywhere besides P4 and P4G funnily enough)
And Robbie is Akechi in P5
I always love the original voice actor of P3 but the voice actor did grow on me 😁
Aleks as Makoto is downright perfect, he brings the perfect energy and his Pharos voice was so spot on we literally thought it was Yuri, he's gonna do great.
Aleks Le on a mostly silent protagonist is CRAZYYY bro. That guy has hella stacked roles (Zenitsu, Thorfinn, Mikey, Luke, Sonon, etc.)
Ken's is... fine.
I'm not gonna be the only one that says this but... these new VAs are growing on me, I'm in love with Makoto, Junpei, and Ken
Mitsuru's new VA sounds so much like Sae Niijima's
Its because its her
@@alrox9760
It’s not, she’s voiced by Elizabeth Maxwell
Sae Niijima was Elizabeth Maxwell. I only know Allegra Clark as Dorothea Arnault and Shamir Nevrand from Fire Emblem Thre Houses. This Mitsuru sounds like a slightly less emotionless Shamir to me.
@@JacStone98 wait really?.... I though it was allegra it sounded so much like her
@@alrox9760 They do sound awfully similar now that you say that, but they are two different people.
So it's really just Akihiko, Shinji, and a bit of Ikutski and Ken that'll take getting used to, everyone else basically sounds the same or better.
i love aki's new voice 😔 i didnt realize everyone disliked it
I feel you, I quote like it too
I have reservations over Akihiko's voice like most people but I'm holding out hope because Alejandro's voice isn't yelling in the fire of battle and is still in the beginning explaining to MC
I think Zeno Robinson absolutely KILLED IT! You can just tell how much personality he put into his performance
In the trailer, I thought Ken’s line of wanting to use his power (2:24) was Mitsuru speaking, especially in the “Take this seriously.” I think it’s going to take some time for me to get used to this one…
I hope Jupei still says “Who’s the man!?” 🤞
he does, the va said it in-character at the anime expo panel
They’re all amazing😭
P3 Protagonist is about tell me to hit the streets.
I'm faintly hearing sand blasts in the background lol.
I like the more robotic Aigis, we were spoiled by Karen Strassman probably one of the best VA's ever she has such a nice voice oh well 😞
In the original i remember the voice getting less robotic as aigis became more human. Mightve been just in jp since ive heard the version recently.
I think the trailer soundbites are from a later point considering what she says, feels unfair that they choose early aigis for the old one to compare.
@@neymiiieit stills sounds way too human.
my thing is, with the old cast they had THAT certain flair to the delivery. even more so with the male character voices that made it stick.
Bro the Og makoto literally just sounds like Spider-Man to me now
1:26 help me
Help me😭
Both Akihiko and Shinji sound way older than they actually are, they sound like they're in their 30 when they're both still in high school.
Akihikos new voice sounds like he has a bounty on me
New va slaps ass tho can't wait to not go outside for a year
The difference in Shinji (and the choice of voicelines that uploader picked) was so startling. XD
HOLY
Shinji got such a massive bump up in quality.
Akihiko's voice transition is amazing. From a high-school student to a matured adult
The new voice cast sounds really good, I'm shocked.
After watching Aleks Le's SF6 content, it's cool to see 3 of the VA's from that game being apart of this.
Yuri is one of my favorite English VAs sad to see he’s not back but I’d love to see aleks’ take on makoto who is my favorite persona protagonist
He does reprise his role as Pharos
@@DominatorElite4 nah, Aleks Le is Pharos in Reload
I didn't realize Yuri lowenthal repised Pharos.
With the Audio filter for that Reload clip you could possibly not notice
2:10 was NOT expecting that to be honest
Dude, I swear I didn't noticed some of the voice actors actually changed aside from the most obvious ones, we really need to praise this voice actors
The reload performances make the original look like a fan project
This video made me realize that it was Shinji talking at the start of the 1st reload trailer, and after playing the game that's so damn heartbreaking (never played og p3 so I didn't see what happened to him coming)
Yuri lowenthal being back makes me so happy. One of my fav VA ever.
Old Akihiko is a fighter, always gung-ho, straight to the action, battle-crazed, dependable senpai (in combat).
New Akihiko is a schemer, a thinker, someone who just wants a cup of coffee, dependable senpai.
the old ken sounds adorable, the new ken sounds so deadpanned
New Ken sounds like a woman😂
The funny thing Yuri voices in the game. He is a police officer who you encountered when doing Akihiko's first link episode.
They got my baby Aki sounding like gruff old man :’( But Shinji’s new voice is really good
Oh God bless, these are all amazing.
0:47 "Knowing the truth isn't everything" Hey, Yukari? There's this game called Persona 4 that I think would disagree.
Just finished this gem and the dlc and man all the voice actors did well in my book enjoyed the game and I really love this persona game since it was my first one.
WITTLE GOBWIN 🥰🥰🥰 I can’t ynhear it from makoto but I love it
Also the new junpei is a MASSIVE fan of persona 3 when he announced it on Twitter there were like 5 paragraphs of hype it awesome
I love Allegra Clerk, I knew from the start that she would be perfect for voicing Mitsuru and it is spot on
IM LOVING ALL THE VOICES!!!! Akihikos is so good even though most people dont like it i still think it fits the character.
I KNEW IT!! I haven't checked who's the voice actors in the reload but when I saw a clip of Akihiko I immediately knew
1:11 (was literally like why is his voice SO familiar)
Ken feels like he gets possessed by Mitsuru
I hope I can figure out how to mod Junpei's old voice back in. Or at least just his "Sup dude!"
I need that in my life...
I really love the new cast. I was afraid I’d miss the old cast too much or that it would be distracting, but the more I play Reload, the more I prefer this new cast.
I will miss Akihiko's voice 😭 "Did ya see that Shinji" will forever be iconic
Yoooo Yuri is still voicing Pharos? That's great! 😄
Edit: Apparently Aleks is voicing Pharos but he still does a great job ^^
This new cast is overall pretty hype. Aleks Le, Zeno Robinson, Alejandro Saab, and Dawn M. Bennett are voice actors I’m very fond of and I think they all kill it in their respective roles! It’s also a great excuse to replace Vic and Karen Strassman (Yes I know Karen still voices an NPC but at least she’s not a prominent character anymore)
The Reload cast and original cast both rock!!
i think they’re really good!! i think they got a slightly better understanding of the characters in reload, as they ironed out some flaws in voices like junpei and mitsuru and completely redid some like Fuuka and Shuji! i also like how they made ken more mature and made aigis sound more robotic yet still human and emotional at the same time. a lot of people seem to have a bit of an issue with akihiko, but i think the deeper voice really fits him and his maturity without sounding as old as some people say (imo).
Everyone talking about how great the new voice actors are but I’m just here happy to see that Yuri Lowenthal is still going to be a part of this game ❤
EDIT: Just kidding guys I saw the updated pinned comment LOL
Im surprised he is still able to pull off that voice. I recall him struggling as Haseo in the last .hack GU chapter
(Unless theyre just using voice clips)
He is?? That rocks, who does he voice? I must have missed it
Edit: nvm, pinned comment corrects the video that Aleks also voices Pharos. His impression was just THAT good, which is a good sign. I also thought it was Yuri reprising his role when I first saw the trailer, lol
Yuri has confirmed he's back as Yukari's Dad. Fingers crossed the rest of the old cast is back for cameos as well.
"Good boy, you deserve a treat" Well I am good for a while.
i never thought I'd PREFER a new voice over the old one but WOW shinjiro's voice is perfect. it feels more like how I'd imagine his voice to be; the old voice always felt a little off to me
im SO hyped for the new cast i think all of them have done an incredible job making it feel like the same characters, but also making the voices something original and new
Wait... Just now I realize that KaggyFilms makes the voice for Akihiko. Man, I remember watching a lot of his videos about Dragon Ball BT3 mods
What did they do to Akihiko?! 😭
I like the new voices with the exception of Junpei. Was so bummed when I didn't hear Vic's voice.
Yukari new voice sound closer to her original, but i like Machelle better, i wonder why they didn't bring her back. 😢
Both sets of voice actors from 3 and reload are amazing
I think the reason why some VAs sound off is because we're so used to them after all these years. I don't hate akihiko's new voice but P3 has so much emotional driven dialogue that until we see those special moments, I think it's a little unfair to judge from just these clips alone.
Interesting to note is Yuri voiced Makoto, Pharos and Ryoji in the original game.
And now Aleks voices Makoto, Pharos and Ryoji in the newest game.
Alejandro should've made Akihiko's voice a little higher. Closer to his original voice. I wonder if he decided to go that route or he was directed to be that way? Still love him as Cyno.
The audio leveling for some makes it so I can't hear the voices especially on Junpei's new actor.
