  • Total Knee Replacement. During this procedure, damaged cartilage and bone are meticulously removed from the knee-joint. Durable artificial components such as metal and plastic implants are carefully positioned to recreate the knee's natural structure. These prosthetic components ensure proper alignment and function, relieving pain and restoring mobility. Following surgery, a personalized rehabilitation program including physical therapy, is essential to maximize recovery and regain strength and flexibility. #shorts #3d #animation #knee #health #anatomy

Remember, you will no longer have an ACL, PCL & lateral ligaments. Your knee will be extremely unstable. That is why physical therapy is important and variety leg and hip exercises must be maintained for the rest of your days to keep your joints stable.

I really haven’t felt much instability, just warmth, numbness, and tenderness in the area after 8 1/2 months. I went to physical therapy twice a week the first three months. Getting a bend has been no problem, it’s straightening the leg out, that’s extremely hard!

My ladies' new left knee has been a life saver. She can almost do anything she could with her good natural knee. It was replaced in Feb 2023
Recovery was NOT FUN, and I agree with the physical Theropy you have to push yourself beyond limits

These posts are BS. Designed to make you run out a get a TKR ‘cuz you think it’s going to pretty easy. It takes most people months to be able to get around again with a cane. The pain is horrific and recovery is really brutal; PT is torture. All that being said, it’s worth it, but you don’t recover in a week, two weeks. Not a chance. It takes a long damned time…up to a year.

Had L/TKR 24/4/24 home 9th day today. Believe for me it will be a life changer so far very happy alround. I had spinal & femoral blocks was awake 2 hrs of surgery would do again 💯 I am nearlyv72 yrs old never wanted anything done had no choice had complex meniscus tears bad OA. Was limping last 3/4 mths before op could ride my bike for an hr bur had to stop walking. Best find good Surgeon do homework read/ watch lot of TKR videos TH-cam. Make sure keep fit before op & start to do post-op exercises pre-op. After op do all told & make sure do all exercises. Go into op prepared settled in mind all will go well go in with positive attitude outcome will be better. Feel best decision made as want to walk have better quality of life. All the best Dad will be fine I like less drugs. I am pretty fit/healthy didn't want to be knocked out so didn't want General Anaesthetic. With spinal blocks they can give you relaxants & can go to sleep but I like less drugs. This way is better for heart/brain less side effects. Good luck first 2/3 weeks probably worst but time goes & all worth it.

Probably a minimal scar and no staples, right? Staples are old school. And Singapore? A highly
advanced country in the middle of a hot and humid swamp with a lot of rules, but it’s a good thing if you’re a decent person that likes order, cleanliness, and a lot
      of air conditioning.

It is amazing. I am scheduled for a Left Total Knee Replacement (TKR) in a couple of months. I had the right one done ten years ago - now it’s time for the left. Therapy is pure torture - but in the long run it greatly reduced my pain.
The success of a knee replacement depends on mainly three things for the patient:
    1) a good surgeon - this is key - find one based on recommendations from family, friends, previous patients, etc. - ask around;
    2) a good friend(s)/family who will assist you through recovery; and
    3) mental determination that you complete therapy. The exercises that you are taught in therapy, you will need to do for the rest of your life.
    It WILL be worth it.

I’ve had both my knees replaced- yea it sucks but physical therapy is super important, so don’t crap out on it. What really helps is if you bend the knee while you’re laying flat on your back in bed, that way there’s no pressure on it. Another tip- keep up on your pain meds, take them before you feel discomfort. It’s a lot easier to keep pain at bay than to try and stop pain once it starts. And do take pain meds like an hour before therapy, you’ll be glad you did👍🏻

Today I was able to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs carrying stuff in 1 arm just fine and I had only taken Tylenol about 9 hours earlier. My knee is still a bit swollen, and the incision has a ways to go before its totally healed. I just got the surgical bandage off last Thursday. They do have you up and at walking to the bathroom the same day of surgery, with the help of nerve blockers.
BTW...They do NOT remove any ligaments or tendons! If they did you wouldnt be able to ever walk again!😂

@@WSNight- You obviously have not reached the point where you realize that your life sucks because you can no longer walk. Yes, the surgery is traumatic and the recovery time is long and painful, but it's worth it.

Please don’t fear! But make sure you have a surgeon with a good track record! Mine was old school that doesn’t use robot technology and put staples in, but he did a great job! 8 months out I just have some weakness in my thigh and some numbness and tenderness in the area, but otherwise okay.

Arthritis/injury. Arthritis in the knee is very painful and effects your ability to walk/run. I know I have it and limp.

If you’re over 50 and have an active lifestyle or had a manual labor job that’s half killed you for years, it becomes necessary.
