Love this thing. Use it is ATAS 120 and a screen under attached with alligator clips for grounding. Has worked great for me. Was the first person to activate VG-0021 using this set up

Excellent system. I have two of the antennas and one of the tripods. That adapter you didn't know what it was for is for placing a camera on it. I had one at field day two years ago in Saint Augustine, FL, and my first two contacts with my 705 were in Maine. The club was impressed. Nice video, Ape.

Tripod is amazing. I have 3 variants. Gave up on the Wolf Tripod. Mainly use the 17' whip on it and for radials I do it the way Bob does it or I use the Magic Carpet.
What was wrong with the Wolf tripod? I was thinking of getting that. Also considering getting the whip and tripod mount so I can use my own tripod.

Because of the adjustable legs on that tripod, I can set it very flat and it holds up better for me in wind than the WR tripod does. Also it is lighter and folds up way smaller. Those legs are very adjustable as Ape shows in the video. Go watch some videos from the HOA ham and he compares the 2 tripods.
@@TheSmokinApe I am sure the NanoVNA can be used to test it. 😆Your eyes are better than mine. Those 4" VNA screens are just not made for the bright sun. But the carpet works for me.

I have one of these it is a great compact tripod. The extra mount nut is to use the tripod with a camera if you want. I also used banana jacks to to plug in to the ring terminals for the radials. Nice antenna system.

I have one of these tri pods and use it sitting on top of a magic carpet conductive cloth with a clip lead from the counterpoise thumb screw to the conductive cloth and it works pretty good in that configuration as well. Vic de KE8JWE

I think I have the previous revision tripod. I've used it with the Comet toybox and Opek HVT-600. Comet has a radial kit that works well enough (I was lazy and couldn't find an o-ring for SO-239)

Need the measurements for a ground plane radio that is given by antenna. Calculators do those numbers have to be exact or is that a minimum length?
It's not a minimum. The length can be quite forgiving, typically use want them to be 1/4 wave on the lowest frequency you will be using. If space is an issue, you can "get away" with more and shorter radials.

Great idea, antenna mounts are nicely made but the tripod sucks - legs difficult to deploy and one of the feet came off during initial testing.

that 3/8-24 to other thread is 1/4-20 for use for a camera. i bet if you were to pick up a number of taller camera tripods like this would work. think thats probably a 15" i have a ZOMEI Q666C which was cheap and would allow you to get a much wider base

Love that setup. Great POTA and SOTA use. Window screen Aluminum can be used as well. some times with poor soil you need that. 4 -17 ft radials is a good start. I find some times 40 meters may need more. I mostly do 20 meters to 6 meters. I have M & P POTA flex 7 coax. that is bright yellow/orange. My choke balun is RG 400 . Nice orange wire! I got neon Pink antenna wire 14 AWG from DX engineering. all HI VIS . Bands POOR again in NY . even CB 6 . 15 meters FT8 working better than 20 meters. Heating my FT 240-61 stack of 2 up with 400 watts FT8. still takes a while with #10 AWG mag wire. and I did the tap at 2 instead of twist for 2 turns. I did both. the TAP runs cooler under high power ! A fellow had showed me that. he did a 3 stack of FT 240-52 . I had 61 ferrite. tested slight better on 6/10/11/12 meters. 43 ferrite did better on 80 meters. and 3 turn primary. for the 49:1 . That tripod would make a great stand for my end fed half wave at 6 meters. use long whip and feed with my 49:1 at base. more gain than 1/4 wave and lower take off angle for DX . 73's

@@TheSmokinApe I know KB9VBR has good luck and tune with the screen. I have not used it my self . K8MRD has used screen as well . hope to try some day soon. I got plenty of pink wire . I got a big spool of it. The cloth is just to pricy for me.

I cant imagine that a 6" tripod can sutibly hold a 17' whip all that well without tipping over constantly. seems like massive overkill and underkill at the same time.
The legs extend to 14.5”. I did show the legs extended in the video…. Maybe you watched something else.
