This song is almost old enough to be my little brother and I’m still bumping this banger. Thank you FIFA 2005 soundtrack. Best song to play during the break and highlight reel.
First heard this in '04 in Iraq. Hung out with a DHL delivery dude who had copious amounts of vodka, and hailed from Ireland. Many of good nights faded in a warzone listening to The Streets.
This was playing absolutely everywhere in ’04. In clubs, on the radio, even in everyday shops… I never cared for the lyrics, but the tune gets me nostalgic. It was the soundtrack of an era to me, for better or worse.
Yeah but it's true even now, there's so many chick's that know there fit and are just bitchy cause they know they think they can get away with it, and if there not then fair enough bur most of the pritty women are bitchy you could say. There just rude to everyone
You can like more than one genre of music without it being a "guilty pleasure" I love Metal as well but this song along with Beastie Boys - Intergalactic, Gorillaz - Feel good inc and Eiffel 65 - Blue are all my main childhood songs and I'm not gonna stop loving them just because some gatekeeping B.O ridden weirdo somewhere might think I'm not a real Metal fan.
The Streets provided the soundtrack to the best years of my life. I was 12 when Original Pirate Material came out and 14 when A Grand Don't Come For Free came out. They are legendary albums.
i remember while in high school (graduated in 2004) trying to decide if I should buy a digital camera or a regular film camera because regular film cameras were still being used regularly and it was actually a legit option
This brings back such heavy nostalgia. Got this album when I was 10, constantly on repeat. I remember England getting knocked out of the Euro 2004 by Portugal. What id do to go back
Thought I recognised it. The 2nd time I was in London I was away with work to Chiswick. Stayed at the Clayton. It was in July and I just remembered it felt 10x hotter than Glasgow 🤣🤣🤣

Just amazing. Every time I hear it, I'm struck dumb by the genius of it. The blend of brash punk and natural speech rhyme delivery. Suggests gigantic new vistas of hip hop to explore. Musicians, don't sleep on this, he's giving you a roadmap
This was one of my “Anthems” 15 years ago.. heard it on a late night radio show for the first time, called in to get the name and that was it.. my mates and I used to sing it while getting fast food after a heavy night.. those were the days! Drrrunk!
my god, this song just randomly popped into my head for the first time in like 15 or so years, but i could just barely remember it unil i dug deep into the far reaches of my brain and remembered the chorus! so relieved i found it
Absolute banger. I love the start of the video, reminds me of that moment of getting the photos from your holiday before camera phones. That moment when you haven't got a clue what photos you took as you cant remember taking any of them 🤣

I have no idea why, but I have been thinking about this song lately. I haven't heard it since high school. The rock station I listened to used to have a random, obscure song play (at least for here in Utah, USA) and you would get to vote in the best obscure song into the next week. I always got excited when they would play it through the week as well. I couldn't afford a CD from them and our CD selection in small town USA was pretty limited, not sure if I could have even found a copy. Internet that wasn't dial up finally hit around 2006, 2007? At least the affordable stuff. The station it was on was super fiddly as well, I remember tweaking the antenna on my radio to try and get the clearest signal I could or even get it at all. Gods, the memories this song brings up.
I was obsessed with this song when I was 11 years old lol I went on a trip to California with my parents in 2006 and this song was in my head the whole plane ride there

It's the opposite for me. The lyrics are hilarious, the tune is meh.
Why can you read this comment like your singing the song 😂

Really summed up Britain in the early to mid 2000s.
Gritty wit. I am dutch but yes that is the right term.

Still just as fresh today. Nothing worse than someone who is fit or good looking and knows it.
A grand don’t come for free is such a creative and relatable piece of work
i think i was the sole person in my entire high school (in Orlando, FL) who listened to the streets - great stuff
@Maria Hilton Original Pirate Material

Probably. I'm from Oregon and went to high school 2005-2009. I'm fairly certain I was pretty much the only person listening to them.
Pure Brit Chav culture in a song..Im an Irishman and i love it its a shame they called it a day early some serious tunes

I think the most shocking thing about this video is how recently people getting films developed was considered normal.

So happy to see this show up on Ted Lasso, hopefully will introduce The Streets to a whole new audience.
I heard this on the radio when it first came out, I really liked it, but it faded from my memory till I saw it on Ted lasso, thankfully!
which episode was it
Football, mates, beers, chicks, England and The Streets- life's good.
Not anymore. Now it's 'Inside, lonely, inside more, Death, Inside more, even more lonely - life sucks'
