Thanks - finishing up some odds and ends - when installing the wiring cover I disconnected the fuel solenoid by accident and the car wouldn’t run. Now that I have fixed it, it should work again tomorrow…
LarsonVW, excellent video, I own a 1964 sedan beetle as well, you just gave me a great idea how to mount my kenwood amp, also can you show us how you connect your ground & positive cables to power the amp?? ❤👍🤔👀
I ended up running a 10 gauge wire directly from the battery to the Kenwood - which was a bit of a pain, and the starter has an indicator lead for turning it on. The ground is bolting directly to a bolt under the hood - you need a good ground for the stereo because it does dump a fair amount of current
Thanks! The stereo sounds great and I just need to put in my front mono speaker and install a bracket for the marine remote control under the dash or in the glove box…
I bought kenwood KD-CX305 excellon, detach face. ¿ big question is? Do I connect come out of the radio ( Red+red; black +black yellow+ yellow, and use the audio cables to the speakers 🔊 only?
You could put it anywhere really, you could put it out of sight and use it as kill switch for when you're not driving the car, but just remember to switch it off when you finish driving.
So that is the “controller” power wire. So it is only small voltage that tells the Bluetooth to turn on, but the large main power wire is the thick one that is actually connected to the battery at all times. I connected the control wire to the ignition, splitting the spade. Make sure it is connected to the one where the key on gives 12v, but the key off is 0v.
Man now looking at the beetle almost done! How beautiful is looking! Great job on the blue tooth stereo system! Great job!👌😎👍

Awesome…looking great!!!! Are you going to bring the car to the show on Saturday at the StateFairGrounds, Raleigh, Nc.
Hey - I saw the show was in Raleigh. I would love to tow the bug there behind the bus, but not sure I’ll be able to make it…
I used a stand alone separate battery. Super simple and once a month I charge it.
Interesting - why would you do that when the alternator charges the main battery? Do you have major wattage?
@@LarsonSplitBus- No just a simple 12V pack plugged in to a Bluetooth/Amp. I just use my Phone to listen to tunes. Sounds great too.
Thank you!
You are welcome - the Kenwood marine audio have served me really well in both the bus and the bug!

Wire in an on/off switch for your fuel pump, that way you won't be pumping fuel to carbs when you have your ignition switched on
Ok, and put it on the dash?

Love the bug! Question, where did you get the carpet?
It is a TMI carpet (the cheapest one) from JBugs. It was pretty low cost, but makes a big difference looking at the trunk area
If you mean the interior carpet the answer is the same - TMI from JBugs…
@@LarsonSplitBus- yes was asking about the trunk area. Thank you! Love the bug looks great.. Thanks for the videos and all the info.
The P. Cont blue wire, How or where did you connect it? I have a bus I’m trying to connect that way

Hi !
Is it 12 volt
Yes - the car was converted to 12v and the Bluetooth is 12v
