That look between Raylan and Arlo as they bring Helen out… that look says that no matter who pulled the trigger, the men responsible in the end for her death, it came down to the two of them in the end. Arlo for his continuous criminality, knowing sooner or later it was going to come to his doorstep. Raylan for not stopping his father when he could, or getting Helen out of there. The music here is heartbreaking and it fits the scene perfectly. Even the cop taking off his hat at the doorway was spot on. This show does not get enough credit for being among the best shows in television history
I think that nod that Raylan gives Arlo is the last respectful gesture Raylan ever shows his father... and his father is too meager an individual to return the gesture
This is the most sorrowful scene of the series for Raylan. The loss of the Aunt who doted on him as a child, who took over raising him when his Mother passed, who gave him money to escape the fate of staying in Harlan and having to endure more abuse by his Father. Her Death was the only loss that he grieved over.
"Good for her"
Favourite comment. Such a casual remark but shows how much respect he had for Helen defending herself.
Everything about this scene is utterly convincing. The silence speaks volumes.
This was the episode Olyphant submitted for his Emmy nomination! And SO well deserved.
Helen is the one that saved Raylan. She gave him money to quit the coal mine and he used the money to go to college and get away from Harlan.
From start to finish best series ever
Forgot how sad this scene was. Nothing overdone about it, yet piercingly sorrowful.
This series was masterful.

Well said.

His stepmother was also his aunt. His mother’s sister, she married his father after his mother died.
She married him to save Raylan, as I’m sure you remember. Helen was a wonderful woman.
She done that to protect raylan
She also used to shield him when Arlo was beating on his mother

Upload the clip where Raylan considers murdering Dicky, talking about how Helen saved him
Less is more. Good work from Mr. Elephant.
Great Series 🤠
Anyone know the name of the song played at Helen's funeral
Aunt
Also stepmother. She married Arlo so she could protect Raylan.
Just casually walking through a crime scene smh
