Yes I watched the Ohio State game. I have now rewatched it, and I agree my initial impression on the offensive line was bad. When I have a bad take, it’s important to revisit and own it. The pocket was generally pretty clean, but my impression was based on how quick the ball came out. In that I /do/ think I was right that the offense really depended on how well they got the ball outside the tackles. Inside the tackles and in the short passing game Marshall did okay, outside they were just roasted every time. It’s subtle, but Ohio State really didn’t have major success attacking linebacker depth in the passing game, for example, outside of screens thrown at the edge of the box. The why on that just kind of escaped me on the live watch, and I wasn’t in a position to rewatch after. Still, the point was intended to be mostly positive, noting that I came away live feeling like the skill players in space were such an absurd mismatch it sort of hid any warts that otherwise may have existed. As for that being a different take - wouldn’t you prefer that (right or wrong) than if I just read the recap and spit it back out? It’s kind of funny how often we get accused of chasing box scores because our takes DONT track with box scores…
have to disagree with Josh's assessment of the Marshal game. OSU only had two drives with their starters that didn't result in a TD. The reason for the closeness at half was the fact that their defense couldn't force stops on Marshal, and they were on the field too long.
The O will be fine... and is elite. No mention of the dominant run game? Only thing that needs work is deep ball. The O will keep progressing with Chip and prove it against better competition.
Yeah, his characterization of the game would make you think it looked much like the OSU games from last year. It didn’t. The team looks wayyyy better offensively. D looked a bit stale, and I still have real concerns about DEs getting home for sacks, but I think that’s a product of playing vanilla defense with players that aren’t super motivated. The run game never looked even half as good last year as it did this weekend. We OSU fans are the worst sometimes, so it’s refreshing to find some that don’t freak out if we don’t win 100-0 😅
I have to disagree with the Ohio State offensive line comment. I'm not saying they are the best line ever, but there was nothing in the Marshall game that could lead me to believe they are suspect. Ohio State had 1 negative play (1 sack) the entire game on a blown assignment. They rushed for almost 300 yards and averaged 10 yards a play lol. I came out of that game more positive about Ohio states offensive line then having questions about it . Just my opinion, love the show guys!
Quinshon Judkins and Treveyon Henderson BOTH averaged over 12 YPC on 20 combined carries but let's talk about how they couldn't get it out of the backfield.
@@Isaac121 To be fair, they haven't played anybody to really force a change of preseason presumptions. Which goes for a lot of teams this early in the season.

Having questions about the offensive line long term is a reasonable take but they played well in this game and have exceeded expectations so far this year. Defense was more of a concern this game. Super lazy analysis from a channel that typically does a good job.
Ohio State was 2-2 on third down before the Penalty on Day in the 3Q. There was only one other missed third down with the starters and they got it on fourth down and scored a TD the next play.
OSU’s offensive line has been dominant all year. It’s always funny to me how these guys will pick and choose stats (most of the time stats that are completely ridiculous/made up) that either support their “feelings” about nonSEC teams.
I really don't understand this sustaining drives argument against Alabama. It's not that their offense is only huge bombs down the field by Milroe. About half of the explosive plays are coming from the running backs running for 30-40 yards for TDs. They haven't sustained drives because once the skill players are hitting open fields no one has been catching them so they haven't had to sustain drives. DeBoer said that he will never apologize for too many explosive plays and I kind of agree with him. If I have an offense that can chunk play my way down a field I don't care it only took them 4 or 5 plays instead of 8 or 9.

This feels like the early Harbaugh teams which were a quarterback away. Hopefully we figure it out. But fully expect to get worked by OSU. Will probably lose a random game because our offense is garbage.

I’m not even an Ohio state fan and I watched the highlights and you can see a clean pocket the entire game, Ohio State looks scarily similar to that Michigan team of last year, now I doubt Ohio state can go undefeated I’m not sure you want to, I’d feel like if you are the top 3 talent wise we get to see 2 square off this week and the third obv Ohio State really comes down to do you put stock in the ACC wins like yes UGA just buried Clemson but I bet by the end of the year the BIG10 has far better defensive stats then the ACC, if they don’t that’s sad asf. We’ll see though oh and Oregon but I need to see them dominate more like they look too finesse, I’m scared for them right now like if they had Indiana idk if I’d take Indiana to out right win
I responded in a separate comment, but I will say that watching highlights is really not a good way to counter these arguments. Most QBs and OL look good on the plays that make highlight tape. Hence why Anthony Richardson was a hype machine.
Tennessee decided with about 20 minutes left to run the ball and play to shorten the game. With backup tackles, on the road against a good defense, and on a bad playing surface. Tennessee said OU can’t score enough to scare us if we roll the clock and punt. It’s not going to look pretty on the metrics, but you play not to win, ain’t a beauty pageant.
Michigan and Clemson in the top 10 seems weird to me. But i don't think utah is better than either. I have no real issue with either top 10. But I have no idea how good Miami and Ohio really are. Tennessee could have rolled OU even more. They did what Texas did to Michigan and let up in the 2nd half.
What a world. An ACC Champ in Miami, having beaten no ranked teams, gets the CFP bye nod. All things are possible. In any case, I don’t have any major quarrel with either Nerd List. Michigan/Clemson being the major difference, but when you get to the bottom of these lists, there is less precision. Lots of great football ahead!
Lol still backhanding those compliments, and chopping that name up. We were down both starting tackles.....neither mentioned it once. We swapped our strategy and went conservative as a result. Every team we've beat has been forced to bench their QB.
Hopefully Cam Rising will get healthy and Utah can look like the team they have been with him. They were up 23-0 against Baylor and driving the ball down the field midway through the second quarter before he got hurt. They were up 22-3 against Oklahoma state with a true freshman in Stillwater and Isaac Wilson threw two freshman interceptions deep in ok state territory that kept 6-14 points off the board. I think Utah is a legitimate top 10 team with a fully healthy Cam Rising and no way do I think Michigan would beat them with no QB. But Cam Rising isn’t fully healthy atm.
Moving that goal line for the Vols once again…. The Vols took the foot off the gas in the second half due to issue at both tackle positions. They did it to keep Nico from getting injured, and bc the defense is solid. Heupel didn’t need see a need to risk him for more points.
They also got strip sacked twice "while they were trying" OU was playing light fronts all game as well you should run at that. That should have been the plan from the start.
@@eescabar Right tackle had one as well and it was much worse. Hey OU is down o linemen and no one cares. Tennessee was in the same boat. The difference was they actually made adjustments to win anyways
My top 10: Teir 1: Yee Haw DAWG Teir, 1) Texas, their BACKUP QB is a legitimate Heisman candidate. Enough said. 2) Georgia, they beat Bama soundly on Saturday they should be number 1 next week. Teir 2) Are they Elite? 3) Tennessee, They beat a good defensive team and the score was closer than the game was. 4) Miami, They look the best of the teams that have played nobody. 5) Bama, They beat Georgia on Saturday they’ll be top 2. 6) OSU, they beat the breaks off a good but not great MSU team, they should be top 3. 7) Ole Miss, They can move up if they face a real team. Teir 3: Mid Ten Football baby! 8) Oregon, IDK what to make of them, but I don’t feel like you can put anyone else here 9) Penn St, they play a good team this weekend, it’s their chance to prove they can go up a teir. 10) Michigan, You could put Clemson or Utah here, but Michigan has the best win and that just edges the other two out in my opinion.
Best teams ranking: 1. Ohio State - The most talented and deepest roster in college football. Best defense in the country and it's not close. 2. Miami - Best offense in the country. There is no stopping this offense. Elite RB. Elite QB. Excellent receivers and Tight end. Elite defensive line. This is a top 5 defensive line in the country, maybe top 3. Still some questions on the backend. 3. Texas - The loss of Baxter was devastating. second/third most talented roster in the country. Quinn Ewers does not fit Sark's system. Quinn takes too many risks and Sark overly complicates play calling. Best offensive line in the country. Elite receivers. Very good QBs. Defense is solid. 4. Tennessee - Nico proved to me against Oklahoma that he is NOT the elite player needed to push Tennessee to a national championship. That said, he is perfect for this offense. This offense is a top 5 offense in the country when Nico is given the greenlight to run. The defensive line is a top 5 defensive line in the country. Still questions on the back end. 5. Ole Miss - Elite QB. They are fielding the two best receivers in the country in Harris and Wells. NFL running backs. NFL tight ends. This is the second best offense in the country. I don't think they quite have it on the offensive line. The defense has talent to be very very good but I don't quite trust the defensive coaching at Ole Miss. 6. Georgia - The second/third most talented and deepest roster in college football top to bottom but no difference makers on offense. Carson Beck is wildly overrated. Georgia plays 4 of the best teams in the SEC. I think people are undervaluing the wear and tear that will cause. Georgia could very much be a shell of the team if currently is come playoff time. To that point I see the end game being Ohio State vs Miami or Tennessee in the championship. 7. Alabama - This team should has an elite run game and a very good defense. Jam Miller is the 5th best running back in the SEC. These are the two most important elements to winning under the new clock rules. Milroe's ineptitude as a passer limits this team from being at the top. I don't think they are good enough on the defensive line to beat Georgia. 8. Oregon - Very good QB with play makers all over the field on offense and defense. This team is sleep walking and badly needs a loss to wake them up. The sooner the better. They are playing up and down to their competition. 9. USC - The easiest way to generate alpha in rankings is when a lesser team (Michigan) beats a superior team (USC). People can't wrap their heads around the fact that the better team doesn't always win. It is highly illogical to rank Michigan ahead of USC and its really going to fry some people later in the season for attempting to rank Michigan higher. 10. Doesn't really matter but like probably Penn State, Clemson, Notre Dame or something
I’m a Buckeye fan, but don’t think the Buckeyes deserve the #1 ranking YET! If we can dominate Oregon on the road in week 7, then maybe, but we don’t deserve it yet because of our schedule. By the end of the Season, I hope we prove that’s where we deserve to be ranked, but let’s beat a few good teams first.
Just say “I didn’t watch OSU because they played a bad team.” That take on the oline and struggling to get out of the back is just wrong. There was plenty to criticize on that game but that wasn’t it. If you want to hit OSU on something you can say LBs are slow to react, Special teams sucked, Dline lost contain on the QB, and Howard can’t throw deep. I think 3 is probably generous right now for them. Please watch the condensed game or just say you didn’t watch and the box score was OK so you kept them at 3 based on talent and potential.
Yeah it’s pretty apparent he didn’t watch the game at all and is just leaning on his priors from the preseason. Which is fine. They were playing a weaker team and he probably had eyes on more interesting games. Just say you looked at the box score and saw the highlights.
Michigan in top 10 is hilarious. They're still a 4-5 loss team. Shoot, MN would be a toss up if it was in MN. IL, IN, MSU will be close for UM. OR, WA, OSU are all likely losses.
Minnesota is having a down year. They look inept in all phases. Michigan will likely win. Michigan in the Top Ten? I don’t think so, but it won’t matter as the NCAA is going to beat that drum later this year.
The ohio state fans on here begging for more love and reapect: guys its Akron, WMU, and Marshall. Any intelligent non homer is going to wait and see with them...
The model should have everyone beating the cheaters. It would be great to see UM in the playoffs, because TN would destroy them. But I doubt they don't get to sniff the playoffs and won't be sniffing a bowl game for 2-3 years after.
Except at Quarterback. Oh and Running back. Oh and wide receiver. Oh and tight end. Oh and defensive line. Wait... wait a second... actually they aren't better than Miami in every way. Not even close really...
They played a big12 tream with 9 wins last year, a bg team that is picked to win the Mac that has also beaten p4 teams the past few years. Yes Kent state is bad but the schedule so far isn't any worse than others top 10 teams. Also the offense looks far better this year than last years.

Tennessee I need to see play elite defenses until I trust them again lol, but so far eyes 👀 Alabama, Texas, Ohio state and Georgia I don’t see any other teams right now that match them talent wise and physically maybe Tennessee is not fools gold but I got fuked by them too many times they run a weird offense looks pretty puts up lots of points but once they play a brick wall they crumble.
That take on Miamis defense isn’t aging too well
Love your content! Glad to see the Bucks #1, even though the data is bogus right now.
Go Bucks!
Miami and Ohio are both better than anyone except Texas, 2 of those 3 teams will be in the national championship game
Pump the brakes a little@@adamfuller5640
What a world. An ACC Champ in Miami, having beaten no ranked teams, gets the CFP bye nod. All things are possible.
In any case, I don’t have any major quarrel with either Nerd List. Michigan/Clemson being the major difference, but when you get to the bottom of these lists, there is less precision. Lots of great football ahead!
Miami hater who would of thought every national championship winner didn’t have a tuff schedule
@@marioshort7912didn't have a tough schedule? I can only think of one or two teams that fits
I don’t think anyone is going to know what Ohio State has or doesn’t have until the Oregon game. Talk about a sorry schedule
You also have to realize these elite teams do get bored early in the season with cupcakes and might let one or two mistakes happen
Lol still backhanding those compliments, and chopping that name up. We were down both starting tackles.....neither mentioned it once. We swapped our strategy and went conservative as a result. Every team we've beat has been forced to bench their QB.
I tried to use your website and model but your website says BYU beat K-state last week 6-0…. So I feel like I can’t trust any of it lol
1. Texas
2. Ohio State
3. Alabama
4. Georgia
5. Ole Miss
6. Tennessee
7. Miami
8. Oregon
9. Penn st
10. Utah
I think there’s a Zero percent chance that Alabama could beat Tennessee.
I'd drop Ohio State below Tennessee and Miami as well. And Penn State & Utah are not top 10 teams.
Are you planning on getting the fan top 10 and pickup up and running on the website again?
@@Link-we8so The strip sack were a direct result of the missing left tackle.
@@eescabar Right tackle had one as well and it was much worse. Hey OU is down o linemen and no one cares. Tennessee was in the same boat. The difference was they actually made adjustments to win anyways
Who really has Miami beaten? A Florida team that will finish in the lower third of the SEC??
Why not compare to Week 5 rankings?
USF seems pretty goofy for trying to run a VnS offense with a qb who can’t throw downfield
My top 10:
Teir 1: Yee Haw DAWG Teir,
1) Texas, their BACKUP QB is a legitimate Heisman candidate.
8) Oregon, IDK what to make of them, but I don’t feel like you can put anyone else here
9) Penn St, they play a good team this weekend, it’s their chance to prove they can go up a teir.
10) Michigan, You could put Clemson or Utah here, but Michigan has the best win and that just edges the other two out in my opinion.
Georgia is going to lose to Alabama
@@MH-0101 I’m picking Georgia by ten, but if I’m wrong I will adjust my top ten accordingly. I’m excited for the game though.
@@MrCow-ir4gwshould be low scoring. Like 17-10, especially if it’s raining.
@@MrCow-ir4gw I change my mind. I'm taking Georgia to beat Alabama.
The Georgia Bulldogs are the Natty game for nearly everyone that they play. Those teams are not a super high priority for UGA.
After Alabama plays Tennessee, I want you guys to tell me with a straight face that Jam Miller is better than Dylan Sampson.
Daniel, are you trying to say you would put money on Miami if they played Bama? Doubt.
If this is a pure power ranking, then having Michigan in the top 10 is crazy. They can barely complete a forward pass right now.
Yeah but the defense is elite. No telling who would win a game between Notre Dame, Missouri, Michigan and Clemson.
This isn’t a power rating. Their power rating model is on their website.
@@neverbackdown1918 Actually this is their individual power ratings.
It's our personal ranking, not a power rating.
@@CollegeFootballNerds it is a power rating. You rank teams based off who you think is best.
Big day Saturday.

OSU 42 MSU 10
Arkansas and Vandy won’t be bottom 3 teams in the SEC this year tho
Best teams ranking:
Mark the tape. I am editing Georgia over Alabama as of right now. I think Alabama isn't good enough on the defensive line.
Haha if you can’t beat a team that doesn’t have a QB that can throw the ball past 10 yards, you aren’t a top 10 team.
@@neverbackdown1918 That’s not how that works lol.
@@lynnm40511 I don’t rank based off who you played. I rank based off how I view your team top to bottom.
Sick hat, go Bananas.
I hate the “if you take away this” mentality… shit is weak
“If you take away 2 explosive runs and a pick six you lose” no shit…
Michigan in top 10 is hilarious. They're still a 4-5 loss team. Shoot, MN would be a toss up if it was in MN. IL, IN, MSU will be close for UM. OR, WA, OSU are all likely losses.

@@Funnyfan321 not nearly as much as the NCAA is.
MN is terrible
Minnesota is having a down year. They look inept in all phases. Michigan will likely win. Michigan in the Top Ten? I don’t think so, but it won’t matter as the NCAA is going to beat that drum later this year.
Minnesota is having a down year. Inept in all phases…Michigan will most likely win handily.

PSU has played no one.
They played a big12 tream with 9 wins last year, a bg team that is picked to win the Mac that has also beaten p4 teams the past few years. Yes Kent state is bad but the schedule so far isn't any worse than others top 10 teams. Also the offense looks far better this year than last years.

Eye test opinion list. Texas has the best win. Why not number 1. 4 is ridiculous. OSU has looked mid in 2 games. Georgia has had many unproductive offensive quarters. Bama with usf. This is an SEC bias list. Guess we will see soon enough.
@@johnjohnson1997 Texas is in a new conference. A team has never won a conference title much less a national title in their first year. Texas is a great team, but they don’t know what they’re gonna be in for.
@@Dawg-Bone Texas won the first big 12 championship as a newcomer. And yea I keep hearing that about “it’s just different” or something like that. Texas is the most complete team in the country. They have every bit of size and speed to beat anyone. The mid SEC teams are not impressive and will not stress Texas. Just because a team is new has nothing to do with their ability. Bama and GA are all that can compete with Texas in the SEC.
You're right 32 yards passing is not sustainable against a quality team.....but of course Michigan fans think so

Beating Purdue by 17 points that’s definitely not hard. Try 66-7

Oregon is definitely a fraud though. I am saying I think Purdue is just really bad. They throw a pick 6, and was 10 point game in 4th quarter. To me both defenses are terrible.
