It is very challenging as Great Dane dogs are so vocal and mindful too . its a challenge to keep a dry eye and not feel like your being harsh. They know what buttons to press i tell you and they are learning from us all the time as they are hyper intelligent dogs. Also, they are loving beyond words and really enjoy human company so balance is key too.
@@t19dal You're right. learning her vocals is like learning what your baby's cries mean. Her high growls are playing, low growls are concerns. some barks mean excitement and others mean nervous. I wanted to make a video about her vocals, but I have to learn how to edit first! lol
My Great Dane had the same issues. She had a grain allergy. I ended up putting socks on her and securing it with tape until she got over the worst of the itching. You are able to give them benedryl if it gets too bad.
Poor girl! My 12 year old GD, does the same. He whines a lot, so I just monitor him constantly and console him when he’s quiet and resting.I also pray daily for him. It’s all about him in what I rear are his last days. I also have a rescue GSD, and they are really close. Best of luck with your baby!
I'm so sorry to hear that. They really are our worlds. More loyal and loving than most humans in our lives. One of mine is getting up there in age and the thought is terrifying. Maybe you already know this, but I read that if there are other pets in the house, that they should be there he passes away. Apparently they need closure and won't stress wondering where they are after. Give him some bum scratches for me!! take care!!

She was going through her false pregnancy. she was trying to nest in the beds (dig in the blankets and matress). I had to shut all the doors with beds lol Shes fixed now so all is well.
She's in pain. You need to find out what is making her sick. If you've taken her to the vet already and the allergies aren't cleared up take her to a different vet. Pink eye or food allergies. A grain free diet. I have had 2 Neapolitans and 1 boxer that couldn't eat grains or soy. They had sore feet and would cause hair loss. Sometimes it affected the eyes.

Get the baby some antidepressant medication. When my Dobie got to be 14 years old, she couldn't sleep. The vet prescribed Valium. Helped her tremendously. At first it broke my heart to have to drug her, but animal's are like people, sometimes they need help. It's up to us Mommy's and Daddy's to take care of them. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LOOK INTO IT.
I greatly appreciate your advice, however this was an isolated time and once she was spayed and her eyes were healed, she hasn't had any issues since. This is great information for any of my dogs if something does come up, as I was unaware they were able to take that type of meds. thank you!!❤

Our dog was the same way. She’s big, and she kept scratching her eyes till they were just swollen and sore. Allergy shot from the vet didn’t help her a bit. Our vet prescribed a pill Called APOQUEL. This works wonders she stopped scratching and itching all over. Her eyes overtime got well. And she’s a very happy dog now. It’s an expensive medication, especially if you get it from your vet. It’s half price from the pharmacy. Some of the Walmarts carry it in their pharmacy. I hope this helps. The vet will write him a prescription. Our dog takes this every day in a piece of cheese. Now we have a happy dog.

Gelmicin ointment/cream works wonders on dog skin issues. Available in as cream in a tube, online, for a few bucks- I use it on a Springer with lots or skin issues and is very effective. Putting on her eyes might help reduce the inflammation and skin shed on your bedding? Works in our house - but then your Dane is 2-3X the size of my Springer!
I saw a bit where Dachshund had a miscarriage and it hoarded all the remotes and cordless phones. She might think the toya are her puppies and she has to protect them.
That's exactly what she did. Although not remotes or phones lol (that would be funny and sad to see), but toys and stuffies, towels, etc... It would be nice to speak dog so.etime to know exactly what goes through their minds when they hoard phones lol
We've had similar challenges during false pregnancies as well. What was worse was when we had husband and wife during her heat. We successfully bred them but it was so challenging that I had to take Gunner away for a few days.
I put a few videos on here about her false pregnancies, have a look and see if it's looks about the same. (no that wasn't a shamless plug, I don't have enough subs to make money lol) but if yours looks anything like padme's than I can only Imagine having to take your male away. Padme wouldn't let my other dogs even come the same room. I really wish we could have bred her as that was the goal, but she has a very nervous and unpredictable behavior and the vet and trainer said she would pass those genetics on to her littler so we ended up spaying her😢😭🐕
Unfortunately she was able to get around the donut pretty easy with her paw to rub her eye. but it did stop her from rubbing it on our bed and rugs. so we switched it up a few time. She's all better now!! thanks for the advice!😉

Thank you, and you are right. The breeder suggested that because I had 2 older dogs already that they would train her and discipline her just as her mom would. We took her home at 6 weeks, which was way too early. I should have known better

I let the vet deal with the medical stuff as I get a little nervous about the dose. I would in a pinch though. From everything I read, it's OK, but im no expert by any means. She's great now, haven't had a problem since then.
