You bet, @manishchoffla...I felt very brave that day. You don't know how much I hate being cold. But, it was all worth it to get the video together and to get the video together for you. :)
Thank you for the video Seb, very, very informative. I like it when you mentioned which areas get more rain, snow or sunlight, I didnt know about it . Suggestion for the summer, if I may: a video about Vancouver's nightlife and maybe a video of Vancouver's breweries. Cheers 🍻
Every year Vancouver has snow ❄️ but Shaughnessy had a lot . About a foot or more. The side roads were impassable.😮 The moisture makes it much cold 🥶 er.
Ik like it, real winters with cold and snow. It is good healthy weather, excellent for a nice hike around the mountains. I still have Vancouver on my planning in 2025. I am from the Netherlands, so I know how to deal with dark, rainy and colder weather. Our winters are not to compare with Canadian winters but chilly, rainy, dark seasons....oh yes :)
100% "real" winter weather is nice once in a while. The nice thing in Vancouver is that even if it's raining down here, you can find a winter wonderland up in the mountains close to the city. :)
I grew up in Vancouver and after uni went to Toronto. Let me tell you, Toronto cold in even -20 is more bearable than -2 in Vancouver. The dampness gets to your bones in Vancouver, never felt that type of chill in Toronto. I also lived in Moscow for some years and the winter there is even more bearable than Toronto because Toronto has a greater windchill factor. Toronto has more sun than Moscow though, Moscow is dreadfully overcast for the majority of winter.
Agreed @carpediemsrce. There's something about the cold in Vancouver when it hovers around 0 that's different. It really does get right into you...the only way that I can get that damp chill out is having a hot shower. Appreciate you watching and sharing your experience!
Winter in Vancouver is awful. It's cold, not like Winnipeg, but it's damp and +2°C chills you to the bone. We get a lot of snow too, not every day, but when it falls, it can pile up fast. Then it melts into a slushy mess. It's just miserable and makes doing simple things like getting to and from work almost impossible. When it's not snowing, it's usually raining. This constant rain is depressing and eats away at the soul. Everything is wet, even when it's not raining, the ground never dries up and remains wet. But spring and summer are great times to be here. The city comes alive and becomes very green.
As someone who has moved from Western Europe, I find it strange how Canadians complain about this weather like it's unusual or they are super unlucky or something. This is typical weather across the northern hemisphere. We also get cold snaps with a damp, dark and wet winters too in London, Prague, Paris, Amsterdam etc too. I think Vancouverites compare themselves to California or something!? The sun also sets at 3 PM in everywhere but southern Europe too. Norway, Sweden and Finland... Again completely normal. Vancouver is nowhere near the equator so not sure what people expect 😅
Hahaha too true @Exnihilo634. In Vancouver we like to complain about two things...the weather, the traffic and the Vancouver Canucks. Perhaps since the Canucks are doing so well recently we are complaining more about the weather lately. ;)

That's a pretty accurate summary @frankyrax. LOL. Winters are definitely wet...and sometimes the only way to warm up is an extra hot shower.
