There is something about this...like it evokes those images as moments from a lost past (which they are), but dresses them with a certain mysterious charm.
Thank you very much for the amazing video with the paintings of I. Levitan. I myself am from Russia and I really like the landscapes of this artist, my compatriot, although he lived about one and a half hundred years ago. Very impressed with your videos and music too. Sincerely, Marina.
Suggestive framing, admirable plays of light, beautiful chromatic harmonies, dazzling skill in translating textures, accurate and fluid brushstrokes! Works with poetic intensity! The music accompanies the images very well. Thank you for showing us these wonders.
What a master Levitan was. Too much attention has been given to the impressionists. The 19th century Russian painters can knock the socks off their European contemporaries.
I agree - Levitan is my fav painter...Monet kind of leaves me feeling slightly emotionless and empty...whereas Levitan....his work conjures up feelings I can't really put into words...quite magical.
Wonderful oil painter. Never heard of him. His style changed over time, perhaps. It would be helpful to view the paintings in chronological order, but perhaps they were shown that way. Each painting invokes extra time looking at it and absorbing it. Levitan painted not only the scenery but expressed the mood within the scenery. Each painting is worthy of appreciation then @8:39 - the mountains, clouds, sky, buildings - you have got to be kidding me! Astounding.
Breathtaking. Amazing to see his style and technique change, subtly. I wish each painting were dated. Really special.
I feel like I am right there.
Truly amazing how he gives you everything you need in a single stare.

A true Master this artist is deserving of his place in the history of art. I would be happy if I could paint 1/10th as good.

Magnificent paintings….
I look and wonder how was it possible for him to have such a body of extraordinary work in his 39 years of life.

God, I so wish I could paint like that.
Thank you for this sanctuary channel. What is the painting of one lone house overlooking the river called?
What era?
