If a mouse gets in your car it will chew into all those bags. Stainless steel containers are best for dry food storage.

@@livinginaprius I'm a retired technical architect. I'm thinking I might want to go back to work for a year or two in a year or two, and if I do I would probably live part time in my Prius; so your videos are very interesting to me. I've watched a lot Prius living/camping videos. Some of your solutions are unique. I've never seen anyone use the back seat the way you have nor install a safe in the trunk. These are good ideas that don't permanently change the nature of the car. Vagabond Mango has some other solutions that I like a lot, but she had help from a professional builder. Unfortunately, mice can get in -- sometimes. While camping in Rocky Mountain National Park, over a couple of days, mice got into my Prius, and ate trail mix I had forgotten and left in my backpack. My first clue was a neat row of raisins, mice don't eat them. Then I found the chewed-through baggie and chewed up trail mix. Next, some tissues from my tissue box were chewed up (for nesting material). Two mouse traps with peanut butter eventually caught four mice over a couple of days. Then I had a major job of checking wiring, in case any had gotten chewed, searching out nesting material, and cleaning up droppings (which can carry disease). I never did figure out how they got in, but suspect they climbed in through the rear rubber air flaps in the rear (these allow air flow through the car, and one is way in the back inside the space where you store your sleeping bag in your video.) I have air-tight Zip-Lock boxes where I store my food, so that bears won't smell it. But some trail mix was accidentally left in my backpack. I also keep canned soup in the food boxes. Never had any problems with heat, but if one did explode, the box would contain it.

This a great setup... Do you have the Prius ready light on when you use the inverter to make sure the battery doesn't go down too low. If so does the engine kick in when using the inverter?

I do keep my car on when running the inverter, so that the battery doesn't get run down. I also keep a Noco Boost Plus (GB40 1000A) jump start power pack in my car, so I can jumpstart my car if the battery ever does get run down. I've had a couple of instance where I forgot to turn my lights off at night, or ran a device, and my battery got drained. Fortunately, I had AAA at the time (and still do), but I would definitely recommend a jump start power pack, if you are going to live or camp in your car. Good luck!
