Stage 1: Priming - # Objective: Understand the big picture of a topic before classes. # Analogy: Building a Lego set by first studying the box cover. # Steps: 1. Gather resources (e.g., TH-cam videos). 2. Identify key concepts. 3. Group and relate these concepts. 4. Create a visual diagram showing the relationships. 5. Take a short pre-test to analyze concept relationships and prepare for inference-based exam questions. Stage 2: In-Class Notes # Objective: Engage actively during class. # Method: - Annotate the primed diagram with new information. - List key observations not fitting into the diagram. - Develop active recall questions (why and how questions). Stage 3: Post-Class Immediate Review # Objective: Reinforce learning shortly after class. # Method: - Spend 30 minutes before bed reviewing notes and active recall questions. - Practice answering these questions verbally to identify strengths and weaknesses. Stage 4: Revision # Objective: Deepen understanding and prepare for exams. # Steps: 1. Create an optimized, clear version of the learning diagram (Diagram 3). 2. Use active recall techniques: - Blurting: Write everything remembered about a topic without looking at sources. - Feynman Technique: Teach the topic as if to a fifth-grader, using simplified explanations, examples, and analogies. - Practice Tests: Take and thoroughly analyze practice exams, focusing on understanding why answers are correct or incorrect.

Summary of vid: There's four stages. 1. Priming --> Understanding the big concepts within the subject before the class is starting on a new topic, how everything is connected. Steps for priming (13:04): - Gather all the material about the topic (slides, textbooks, etc) - Skim resources while making a list of key concepts (terms, headings, images, repeated words) - Research the unfamiliar key concepts on the list - Compare the concepts and create groups based on their similarities and differences. - Make those relationships related to you through connecting it to prior knowledge or personal experiences. - Draw up a diagram of the concepts divided in their groups. After understanding the topic, taking a short pre-test (5 min) will deepen your understanding. 2. In-class notes --> Listen to the teacher, don't focus on writing down every little single thing. - Add on groups to the diagram you made (diagram II). - Add key observations (points you don't know how to fit into the diagram) - Active recall questions to practice with 3. Post-class immediate review --> 30 minutes before bed - Clean up diagrams and questions - Go through questions and identify the harder ones 4. Revision - Creating another diagram (diagram III) Then, study with Active recall. There are different techniques: Blurting, Feyman technique and mock exams. Use spaced repetition and breaks.
omg the way i sat through this entire vid - thought it was like 10 mins - did NOT realize it was nearly 40 minutes long maybe my attention span is finally improving but these are real helpful thanks for giving it in a digestible and easy to apply way!! good luck to everyone studying and learning new things, we got this 💪
small recap (for myself): first: priming (per topic, not class) - keywords >> chunk >> diagram - short pretest second: in-class notes - add on diagram 1 - key observations (don't add on diagram if you don't know where it fits) - active recall (questions) third: post-class immediate review - practice active recall questions - identify weaknesses (make habit of reviewing before bed) fourth: revision - diagram 3 (reorganise and simplify 1+2) - blurting 1-3 times with breaks (good start for a.r.) - feynman technique (use analogies, etc) - (timed) practice tests (correct when done or really stuck and be stricter) also, jun thank you so much for making this video!! i already knew about all of these methods, but no youtuber really explained how and when to use different methods. testweek (in the netherlands, year 11) is coming up and i'm going to start today, thank you so much ^^
“That’s exactly what I was looking for….HOW TO LEARN” Thank you so much for giving such a great way to learn. I am gonna come back here once I will be totally satisfied with my performance in academics I promise you.
00:03 Priming is the first stage of the learning system and involves understanding the big picture of the topic before going into classes. 02:37 Understanding the function and relationship of different pieces in learning 07:40 Chunking information down and organizing it based on relevance 09:51 The priming stage helps analyze how different concepts come together to solve problems. 14:29 Annotation enhances understanding and memory. 16:49 The three parts of in-class notes: annotating, key observations, and active recall questions. 20:36 The guide to academic success covers evidence-based revision techniques, productivity tips, personal advice, and career development tips for students. 22:31 Active recall is key to strengthening memory and understanding 26:38 Personal choice is important for color selection and creating relationships between groups. 28:36 Deliberate effort leads to meaningful learning. 32:21 Practice tests are the best resource to narrow down what to study 34:13 Utilizing active recall and various techniques can help improve learning efficiency. 37:58 The speaker encourages viewers to share their thoughts and questions in the comments. Learning system 4 steps: 1. Priming 2. In-Class Notes 3. Post-Class Immediate Review 4. Revision Priming: Preparing for class by understanding the big picture of the topic to make new information more relevant and easily retained. In-Class Notes: Actively listening and annotating a pre-created big picture diagram with new information during class, rather than trying to write down everything verbatim. Post-Class Immediate Review: A brief review session to clean up notes and practice active recall questions identified during class to consolidate understanding. Revision: An optimized review phase employing diagram reorganization, active recall techniques like the blurting method, Feynman technique, and practice tests to deepen understanding and retention.
Your tips are really good and damn.... I'm in love with your lifestyle. I've been trying to do all of it for months but always struggled. You are an awesome inspiration for our generation. ( I'm also in first year doing my bachelor's in CSE ), starting my own business, want to have a social life, want to stay consistent at gym and want to solve a ton of problems in a short period of time. I'm impressed by how thoroughly you've analysed and studied your brain over time. ❤❤
such an amazing compliment. thank you so much. i know that you are on your way to some amazing things in your life and i'm just happy i can witness it! i wish you all the best
I just need to say thank you! A few days ago i was totally lost on how to learn more effectively, without wasting time, i was deep in negative emotions and depressed. Your video made me feel motivated and now i have a plan to follow and learn more. Thank you!
THIS SYSTEM SAVES TIME GIRL!!! Steps: 1. Priming • Look at it as a whole. • For example, an orchid. If you have you study the structure. Look at first the orchid as a whole. • Or watching video, look for the repetitive words. • Key concepts - Categories - relationship • Chunking • Make a diagram - mental image • Take a very short pretest 2. In-class note. Annotate on top of that diagram Active recall Why and how questions like: Why is this piece of information important? How can this information be applied? How can it be related to things I’ve learned before? How can I alter a variable so that it changes the outcome? What’s a real-life example of this? 90% focus on the teacher 10% notes 3. Post class immediate review Identify your strength and weakness 4. Revision (use the power of active recall) • Reorganize • Simplify 4.2 Active recall applications 1. Blurting method 1.1 choose your source material (read/watch) 1.2 put away the source 1.3 freely recall on blank sheet 1.4 open source and compare and make corrections 1.5 throw away the paper 1.6 take a break 1.7 retry new attempt 1.8 repeat until recall is at acceptable level 2. Feynman technique - Teach the topic as if that someone is a fifth grader 3. Practice test
Gonna watch this when I get out of school but I had to comment and just say thank you so much for all that you do. As a senior in high school about to go to college you have done so much.
thanks man, you're literally the greatest in this!!! i think the fact that you're very overwhelmed by the many many comments you get of how people have been learning well with your techniques, it shows that you're really genuine in wanting to share how you study to thousands to millions of people. cheers man hope you have a great sunday
Priming: - to understand the big picture of the topic before attending the class How to prime: when: Based on topics: around 2~3 weeks 1 - Identify resources: example. TH-cam - take notes - noting repeated words - points of emphasis - creating a list of key concepts - creating groups - compare the key concepts - identify similarities - relationships - ask: How is the topic relevant to me? - using the groups creating relations between them - visually create a diagram: the big picture: the item u have grouped or created relation. - this shows how the major concepts fit together in the big picture - Instructions for diagram I: -Gather all the material about the topic (slides, textbooks, etc) - Skim resources while making a list of key concepts (terms, headings, images, repeated words) - Research the unfamiliar key concepts on the list - Compare the concepts and create groups based on their similarities and differences. - Make those relationships related through prior knowledge or personal experiences. - Draw up a diagram of the concepts divided in their groups. - take a short pre-test: around 5 questions - helps further analyze how these different concepts come together to solve problems 2 - In class notes - Annotating on top of Diagram I/diagram II - creating additional branches, and additional subgroups to the big picture - jotting down main points for u to remember in relation to the big picture, in relation to other relevant pieces of information - Add key observations (points you don't know how to fit into the diagram) - Active recall Question: MUST DO - Forcefully retrieving the information out of ur brain without the source of the material in front of u - example: - Why is this piece of information important? - How can this information be applied? - How can it be related to things I've learned before - how can I alter a variable so that it changes the outcome? - what's a real-life example of this? 3 - Post-Class immediate review - helps identify ur strengths and weaknesses - 30 min before u go to bed - clean up ur active recall questions from class - clean up diagram number two that u've made in class - add some of the key observations into the diagram - practicing ur active recall questions 4 - Revision - creating diagram 3 - making this a resource for urself - reorganize & simplify diagram 1 & 2 - Active recall applications 1. Blurting Method 1 - identify source material, for example: textbook, lecture, etc 2 - read/watch it 3 - put away the source 4 - freely recall on Blank sheet 5 - reopen source & compare & make corrections 6 - throw away the paper 7 - take a break 8 - retry new attempt 9 - repeat the process until the recall is at an acceptable level 2. Feynman technique 1 - use simplified explanations, examples, and analogies as if ur teaching the topic to a fifth-grader - record urself talking about the topic 3. practice tests 1 - look through practice exams. -Focus on understanding why ur answers are correct or incorrect.

Broo, you're a dear friend! I always knew these things but no one taught me nor did I figure out HOW to use them to study. I couldn't find or use any study methods in my highschool years, so I'm thankful for these. Bless you
I'm struggling in college rn, I just subscribed. Your ability to explain is flawless and saying that this method seems legit is an understatement. I am starting right away with the priming stage, given that this video as come to me at the right moment
Thank you so much Jun! I've been looking forward to this video for the longest time and I love how clear and structured it was especially with the summaries. I just started medical school in London and actually developed a similar structure from watching around youtube. But you added other valuable tips and methodology I haven't seen in any other video. Really appreciate the effort you put in, and no doubt the number of students it will help. Thank you!!!
@@jun_yuhhey Jun! I can imagine you a very busy at the moment. And I loved the recent video. Could I request that you do a video on the whole process or a focus on the priming mindmap stage for your biomed engineering degree. I do medicine and sometimes find it’s hard to form a skeleton diagram for such difficult topics - which I imagine will be the same as your course. Thank you again for the content 😄
Thank you so much no one have ever taught me how to actually learn. I have struggled with not remembering my notes and my mind going blank on exams. You are a genius for figuring this out and thank you for sharing this for everyone I am truly grateful.
Thanks so much for this video! Most people just talk about how it's important to for example prepare for classes but nobody really tells you how to do it. And this video just made me understand so so much more on how to actually apply things in my study routine. I'm very grateful I clicked on it ❤
Thank you so much for this! Mostly through school and undergraduate study i struggled because of my mental health and not knowing how to study but now im preparing for entrance examinatios for post graduate studies. I love how you describe everything in detail and give us a full view. Most videos dont give a full view and leave me wondering if I'm doing it right or not. So thank you so much for considering everyone and starting from basics! Sending you lots of good wishes from my side! Keep up the good work! Thanks again.
Thank you Jun, my first year in undergrad at Stanford was really difficult because I didn't have much structure or clue about how to tackle so much information being thrown at me at once and how to properly synthesize and apply this information. This quarter I've done much better using your techniques and am really confident going to final exams.
I’ve been waiting for a video like this for so long, thank you Jun!! I’m gonna turn my grades around and keep them up with your methods :) Praying I end up making the marks I need to get accepted into universities and colleges 😭
18 years of academics and i have never encountered such comprehensive technique to approach learning .... Truly a life changing and life saver vdo ...thanku jun from deepest part of heart❤
saying that i am impressed is an understatement. i am 3 minutes into the video and absolutely shocked. the way you explain is justice-proof. i usually find it hard to follow someone teaching me something difficult like the process of studying but the way you break everything down and explain it just gets to me. keep up with the great content, and count me in as a new active follower hope you have a great day ~justice
If only you knew how much your videos, stories and ideas helped me. Your today’s story even made me cry as i was having a bad day at uni and your words were the last straw. Its not a bad life, its just a bad day.Thank you for all this🙏🏻
Among all of the learning system videos out there, this video made it a lot more easier for me to understand and apply to my studies real time!! Like I really like how you provided an example on how to utilize your syllabus. It is direct, simple and very easy to understand. Unlike other videos, it makes me fumble on how to apply it. Now I easily grasp the concept and excited to incorporate it into my daily routine now that a new semester is coming soon. Thanks for the valuable tips Jun! Hoping to more students find your content and finally learn the learning system that they deserved!
This is probably one of the best and most informative videos about a real evidence based learning technique. I am in love with the thought, that when you master learning itself, you can master everything. So thank you very much Jun from the bottom of my heart. Great work!
that is really a masterpiece. Keep going man, you have just made me realize how much our school underrated our abilities just because of its blindness.
Today is 30th Nov 2023, I have a test coming up on 17th Dec 2023. I am going to start using these techniques and hopefully reap positive results. I'll keep you guys updated throughout this 2 week journey. Wish me luck!!
You are amazing. Watching you make me wanting to re start my studies. I gave up after high school and that's a pain for me because I want to study and do something for my life and others but I feel stuck. You are an inspiration. God gave you a gift. Thank you
I am extrememly lucky to have stumbled to your content on instagram,I never had this much clarity from anyone ever and the way you based the diagrams off of something you actually went through learning yourself made it so much easier for me to comprehend , the first step itself just injected hope within me like never before , Thank you Jun Yuh , i am extremely grateful that i found you and i wish you the best for your journey ahead. Love from India
0:07 Hi Jun. I'm not a student but still watching this video, my line of work requires continuous learning. But recently I have a hard time learning, and brain fog. I realized we have similar methods in learning when I was in college, except I didn't do efficient notes. I didn't do the massive connection thing. I do it on small scale when I need to memorize topics. I reflect what I learned for the day everyday, so I don't cram the night before an exam. Mind you this method works! I did well back in school. And yours is definitely an upgrade.
I love you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, infinite thanks. I have been struggling semester after semester, and along the way, my confidence in my study techniques has been dwindling. I cannot express how grateful I am for this step-by-step breakdown. Thank you, Jun Yuh.
38:09 I’m a med student and through out my studying life, it has not always been so easy cause i study but don’t attain the best outcome So I’m goin to try again this time following what you said 😊 Let’s meet to the top🎉😊 Thanks Jun
I have been a gifted child all my life, studying came easy to me, but now that I am in final year of the school and have opted science to become engineer I have not been able to focus my grades went down not like going in drain I still ranked 10th in class of 57 brilliant students but it was not upto my expectations, I just have 8 months left for my finals and I am now hopeful to score 90% with my efforts and your guidance. You have helped me a lot to say motivated on my goals. Thank you 😊
In the thing that I did accidentally as I went along (or sometimes purposefully but then stopped), priming is probably the most overpowered thing you can do. And it really doesn't have to be complicated, literally just reading the lecture notes in the bus as you're commuting, or the night before and taking notes of the questions you had as you read is already pretty good. While I don't take notes, I will try to implement the jotting questions for review thing because that sounds like a great idea. Even without taking notes, just asking lots of questions and interacting with the material as its being taught makes it so I don't feel like I have ever felt bad for not taking notes (eg: trying to guess what the teacher will say, ask yourself why things are done this way instead of that way, see connections with past things you've already learned). Amazing video, there's a lot here that I will steal for next semester, hopefully I can reduce my study time.
omg, I feel like I just found a treasure of study advices! I just have one question which is bugging me, how to incorporate the learning of multiple resources in this system? like for example, we've to read multiple textbooks + slides/presentation + some youtube videos on the topic which enhances relationships + lecture videos. If someone can answer this, would help alot! thank you jun for your efforts, this girl have been lacking to balance both her small business and studies in an efficient way, but now I feel like it's achievable and I CAN SURELY SMASH IT! 🙌
That’s exactly what my professors in Uni have told me, repeat them exercises. I’m an engineering Stundent from Germany btw. Not sure if this is still relevant for you but maybe I can help others with this
For math the thing that have worked to me is understand the concepts (visual representations, geometric and analityc demostrations and then make a diffiuclt exercise to prove my understanding of the concepts), math can be even enjoyable in this way
Thank so so so much Jun! I am studying mathematics at uni and your work has helped me very much, the idea about chunking down information and then relate it to processes and procedures is absolutely genius! Thanks for making achieving top grades possible... Have a nice weekend :)
I never learned how to learn when I was younger. I had good grades without ever trying, which means I never knew how you were supposed to try, or how to work on something that didn't come naturally. Now I'm starting uni in a week, and I really want to do good! Thank you so much for breaking this system down.
I’m a freshman in high school and I’m interested in getting better grades. I think this video has already helped me a lot and i think a video about each step breaking down each of these steps would be great. Maybe another video about how you apply this to your own studies. I get the fashion example but i think different examples may help more.
yes yes. i really want to do an example with my own coursework! i thought the fashion example was good for an introduction as you guys can focus more on the techniques versus the content. since you guys now generally understand the techniques, i can do a video with a different subject matter :)
Learned this from another utuber and he called it 'pre-study' and i must say that its quite effective. Just know that its a skill and you get better at it with practice.
I just came across this channel and this is the first ever video I watched from Jun Yuh. Oddly enough, it gave me goosebumps and sudden surge of motivation, I feel like the tips are life-changing for me espc. I’m having a hard time juggling multiple subjects with so much scope of information per topic. Imma try this out and edit this comment after a month or perhaps post a yt video about it. Thank you so much for these tips Jun Yuh
Thank you so much....I didn't know how to study...In 1st year of college I was in such a bad state..I am in such a bad state sometimes I want to give up...I use to ask my friends how they stud and get so good grades but they did not say anything and start talking about different things or use to say they don't know how to learn either(like I am stupid, I am not that stupid), I talked to so many toppers in my class but they starts joking (I don't know why), and start diverting from my question. Thank you I don't know if this work or not but thank you I have no one to guide me.
Just took notes on everything, really really hope that these will help since I really want to get my grades up and I also need to get really good scores on my AP exams in may. Thanks, Jun!
Thank you so much for these tips. I am a homeschooling mama and will implement the system for my children and for myself. I have. adult adhd and this helps me so much and I think it's applicable to life as well
thank you so much for this video. I´ve started studying this year and have been so overwhelmed by the whole workload, but your content is helping me so much to organise my notes and make my learning more effective
Hi ! Biology student here !! Thank you so much for this video, I took notes from it and I will immediately apply these to my studies !! I'm in my second year of bachelor's degree and honestly it is very hard and I haven't found any good and efficient study techniques yet. Thank you very much ! Biology student from France :)
Thank you for these videos, currently on my first year of med school and I had no idea that there were better ways to improve my grades and study less time, having my finals in 4 weeks, I will apply it from beginning to end, have a good one!
I loved studying and it was insanely easy before I got physically sick and then mentally sick that for my finals I had to drag myself every step up. I fucked up the two final exams and guess who managed the voluntary re-examination as a speaking test with an A+ in both subjects. Both were things that I had the year before and that I could answer in sleep, which insanely proves that active recalls work and space repetition too, but on other topics the things still lagged and I had a hard time studying so now I am going to try your learning system. I think my depression and I can work with that easier than other ways to study. So thank you for your detailed explanation 💕
OMG! Thanks alot for this literally made a flow chart in my everyday journal in oder to understand the SYSTEM. Really excited to implement it on my upcoming school year after exams. This surely, gives me a clarity on how to develop a correct mindset for studying and becoming better at it. The video really felt extremely exclusive and personalised thanks again
Thank You Sir for the tricks and tecniques .It made my day ... And helped millions of students like me .I am starting my college soon . Much Obliged 😇😊
This is extremely helpful. I honestly was just curious to see what it is you do for studying but I honestly cannot wait to do this with my upcoming second semester courses. I really think this will absolutely aid me in my goal to straight As so thank you thank you thank you
We want more videos like this it will be great help for us and also thank you for this tips I think I need this desperately coz I’m medical student and u know how vast is our syllabus and it’s also difficult to retain every single details. In the end thank you from the bottom of my heart .I’ll definitely use this tips in my medical journey 😊😊again thanks jun ❤
Short Summary of the Video: The Learning System STAGE 1: Priming 1. Watch TH-cam videos and identify key concepts. 2. Group the key concepts into common categories. 3. Try and link them out or look for what interests you about each group and/or individual concept. How is this topic relevant to me? (Because I need to learn this in order to pass the next exam.) How do they fit (link) together in the big picture? Take a short Pre-Test (also part of priming) 1. Give it a genuine attempt, don’t worry about getting the questions wrong (in order to take advantage of the Hypercorrection Effect: When you answered a question with confidence, but later find out that you got it wrong actually helps the information stick better.) 2. Helps the information stick better. How to do this step better: 1. Check the syllabus to identify the upcoming topic. 2. Gather all your resources with information about the topic (textbooks, presentations slides, or online modules). 3. Skim your resources while making a list of key concepts. (Bolded terms, heading, graphs/images, and repeated words). 4. Research unfamiliar concepts on the list. 5. Compare the concepts together and create groups based on their similarities and differences. 6. Think about how the groups relate to each other, and make those relationships relevant to you. 1. Connecting the information to your prior knowledge. 2. Relating it to your personal experiences or interests. 7. Draw a diagram that illustrates the groups and relationships. STAGE 2: Class notes. Class Notes 1. Annotate over your diagram (or make a new one ) while looking for ways to expand on the information (always focusing on linking the information to the diagram). Active Recall Questions 1. Broad to specific. 2. Harder to remember stuff. STAGE 3: Immediate review. Post-Class immediate review. (30-min before you go to bed: practice your questions and review the info annotated). STAGE 4: Revision 1. Create a final diagram with the optimized version of the information (reorganize and simplify the information in the previous diagrams). 2. Focus in relationships. Gral Revision 2 1. Go through every bit of info again. Explaining 1. Feynman Technique: Simplify the information like you were explaining it to someone else. Practice exams 1. Do practice exams while reviewing and understanding the questions. 2. Also try and explain why each answer is right or wrong. 3. Look for weakness areas and go through them again.
I'm a science major while my mom has been a geography teacher for 20+ yrs..I'm gonna learn the toughest chapter of geography by this technique and update my improvement
Thank you so much Jun! I really appreciate a lot of valuable insights from this discussion. I’m 61 years old and retired and I’d like to optimize my learning activities.

First time I’ve ever watched a 40 min TH-cam video all the through in a long time. Thank you for all the great tips I’ll be implementing these tips and maybe updating on how it’s been going. Thank you Jun!
Can you do your daily routine video on how you could multitasking in a day...jun please.!!?but yeah you have realy an amazing personality,I learnt from you that ....control over our mind turns everything possible !! Thank you for guiding us in a right path!😊
Review: Reorganize or Simplify Diagram (subgroups, illustrations, etc.) Blurting (write down what you remember from material or source without looking at it; do many attempts) Feyman Technique (teach at level of 5th grade to a person or aloud to recording; reorganize, give examples, make analogies) Practice Test (understand why answer is wrong or right)
thanks alot big bro, i have seen multiple videos but they were not as helpful as this video was..... i cant thank u more.... u've helped me so much by making this and now i know the exact approach and steps to follow unlike other videos which just explain a random tip of active recalling or anything else. thanks a lot and hope you make more such videos
Im gonna give this a try, cause the work is piling up😭 thank you so much. I just started my first year and this college life is not what I was expecting.
I'll make sure to return to this comment after I've implemented these techniques. Let me tell u guys these r very nice and well studied techniques (some of which I'm already engaged with) so i know there effectiveness. So I'm sure this framework will make you better. Thanks jun. Love from India
Wow this video left me with motivation and a realy good feeling. You just have such a motivating and structured way of explaining things. Everything makes sense and feels dooable.. just a day later I started with the technics and i am impressed! I'm behind in class due to a chronic illness and an surgery, but following these steps make me feel like I understand everything faster. Espacially the Priming Step turned out to be the best thing ever..I feel like I have an overview..an idea of where I'm heading and why and which things are more important than others. Can't thank you enough☺️ I will definitly follow you for more of this content!
Thank you so much for this amazing video! I am sure, it is going to help me. I have never been able to overcome stress and the pressure of studies due to which, I end up wasting most of my time. But, with this method, I feel so relaxed already. Thank you again! ❤
I really dont know how to thank you. I now understand how important these golden informations are to me because I have a big exam upcoming in a few months so that I can get the grade to get in the university I want. And I believe that I will save a lot of time thanks to these techniques. omg where have you been all this time 😭😭 Thank you so muchh!! You're the best ❤❤❤
Aww thank you so much jun you don't know how much detailed this video is I'll surely show all my classmates that are thinking I'm dumb I'm damn sure that I'll get the highest grade on my first term exam 36 DAYS TO GO FOR THAT !!! I'll SURELY TELL YOU MY RESULTS (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) once again thank you so much ❤
I've been studying for multiple hours just to memorize it but not really learning it. This video helped out a lot, hoping it could better help me in undergrad and grad school. Let's get these A's :)
thank you so much for this :) I just started a new semester and I'm ready to improve my grades😄. Watching this video was step 1. Can't wait to implement this system and grow academically :)
Jun Yuh sir you are just so amazing I just want to speak something out of box that's i have been struggling with academic and family finance related anxiety but by watching your videos i get alot of positivity thank you so much for helping me and everyone ❤ everything you shared was really helpful i haven't even skipped a minute of this treasure video 😊😊
Thank you soo much All school does is tell us what to learn and not how to learn. Btw one thing that always think is that how do these toppers ask questions while I can even understand what the professor is even saying. AND NOW I KNOW GOD BLESS U❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks Jun Yuh for sharing this knowledge. I'm going back to college to earn my bachelor's (in Engineering in Data Science) at 31 years old. I know I'm going to be top of my class thanks to your resources and my desire to fulfill my potential!
As a 15 years old high school girl that wants to be successful both at school and daily life it's helped me a lot to understand your way of studying. Even though I follow you on Instagram it was exactly what I needed to learn to implement these techniques into my life. Thank you for being a light for all of your subscribers. It would be perfect for us to learn more about active recall applications through your detailed videos as you said so in the video. You have helped and for sure will help a lot of people at such a young age. Keep going and being a role model for people. Have a nice dayyy👋
literally gonna study this video like crazy,, omg i've been homeschooled online since like, 3rd grade. it's really easy to cheat and while i don't think i didn't absorb anything, i definetly am not where i want to be academically. i'm skipping sr year going to college next year in spring, and i swear that (with God's help) i will be where i want to be academically by then. i'll have fixed my terrible habits FOR SURE!!!!!!
Stage 1: Priming -
# Objective: Understand the big picture of a topic before classes.
# Analogy: Building a Lego set by first studying the box cover.
# Steps:
1. Gather resources (e.g., TH-cam videos).
2. Identify key concepts.
3. Group and relate these concepts.
4. Create a visual diagram showing the relationships.
5. Take a short pre-test to analyze concept relationships and prepare for inference-based exam questions.
Stage 2: In-Class Notes
# Objective: Engage actively during class.
# Method:
- Annotate the primed diagram with new information.
- List key observations not fitting into the diagram.
- Develop active recall questions (why and how questions).
Stage 3: Post-Class Immediate Review
# Objective: Reinforce learning shortly after class.
# Method:
- Spend 30 minutes before bed reviewing notes and active recall questions.
- Practice answering these questions verbally to identify strengths and weaknesses.
Stage 4: Revision
# Objective: Deepen understanding and prepare for exams.
# Steps:
1. Create an optimized, clear version of the learning diagram (Diagram 3).
2. Use active recall techniques:
- Blurting: Write everything remembered about a topic without looking at sources.
- Feynman Technique: Teach the topic as if to a fifth-grader, using simplified explanations, examples, and analogies.
- Practice Tests: Take and thoroughly analyze practice exams, focusing on understanding why answers are correct or incorrect.

Summary of vid:
There's four stages.
1. Priming --> Understanding the big concepts within the subject before the class is starting on a new topic, how everything is connected.
Steps for priming (13:04):
- Gather all the material about the topic (slides, textbooks, etc)
- Skim resources while making a list of key concepts (terms, headings, images, repeated words)
- Research the unfamiliar key concepts on the list
- Compare the concepts and create groups based on their similarities and differences.
- Add key observations (points you don't know how to fit into the diagram)
- Active recall questions to practice with
3. Post-class immediate review --> 30 minutes before bed
- Clean up diagrams and questions
- Go through questions and identify the harder ones
4. Revision
- Creating another diagram (diagram III)
Then, study with Active recall. There are different techniques: Blurting, Feyman technique and mock exams. Use spaced repetition and breaks.
thanks

Thanks
thanks :D
Thank you ❤️🥰
omg the way i sat through this entire vid - thought it was like 10 mins - did NOT realize it was nearly 40 minutes long
maybe my attention span is finally improving
but these are real helpful
thanks for giving it in a digestible and easy to apply way!!
good luck to everyone studying and learning new things, we got this 💪
Man you made me believe that I can get A grades with a huge smile on my face and no need of struggling and stressing.
i believe in you!!
small recap (for myself):
first: priming (per topic, not class)
- keywords >> chunk >> diagram
- short pretest
second: in-class notes
- add on diagram 1
- key observations (don't add on diagram if you don't know where it fits)
- active recall (questions)
third: post-class immediate review
- practice active recall questions
- identify weaknesses (make habit of reviewing before bed)
fourth: revision
- diagram 3 (reorganise and simplify 1+2)
- blurting 1-3 times with breaks (good start for a.r.)
- feynman technique (use analogies, etc)
- (timed) practice tests (correct when done or really stuck and be stricter)
also, jun thank you so much for making this video!! i already knew about all of these methods, but no youtuber really explained how and when to use different methods. testweek (in the netherlands, year 11) is coming up and i'm going to start today, thank you so much ^^
Pls like this comment so i can come back to this recap it’s rlly good o7

Learning system 4 steps:
1. Priming
2. In-Class Notes
3. Post-Class Immediate Review
4. Revision
Priming:
Preparing for class by understanding the big picture of the topic to make new information more relevant and easily retained.
In-Class Notes:
Actively listening and annotating a pre-created big picture diagram with new information during class, rather than trying to write down everything verbatim.
Post-Class Immediate Review:
A brief review session to clean up notes and practice active recall questions identified during class to consolidate understanding.
Revision:
An optimized review phase employing diagram reorganization, active recall techniques like the blurting method, Feynman technique, and practice tests to deepen understanding and retention.
Cool sumary, thank you
Your tips are really good and damn....
Thank you!
i would love a day in your life! seeing how you take care of yourself, study, routines 🥺
haha yes yes i'll need to do this
THIS SYSTEM SAVES TIME GIRL!!!
STAGE #1
STAGE #2
IN CLASS-NOTES 19:59
* Anotar diagrama 2, detalles importantes/clave
* Lista de observaciones/palabras clave que no entiendo ni encajo en el diagrama
* Preguntas Active recall
(lista de preguntas para practicar)
EJEMPLO:
STAGE #3
POST-CLASS INMEDIATE REVIEW
*Identificar fortalezas y debilidades haciendo el ejercicio de contestar las preguntas.
* 30min antes de dormir
STAGE #4
REVISION
* Crear diagrama no. 3:

Steps:
1. Priming
• Look at it as a whole.
• For example, an orchid. If you have you study the structure. Look at first the orchid as a whole.
• Or watching video, look for the repetitive words.
• Key concepts - Categories - relationship
• Chunking
• Make a diagram - mental image
• Take a very short pretest
2. In-class note.
Annotate on top of that diagram
Active recall
Why and how questions like:
Why is this piece of information important?
How can this information be applied?
How can it be related to things I’ve learned before?
How can I alter a variable so that it changes the outcome?
What’s a real-life example of this?
90% focus on the teacher
10% notes
3. Post class immediate review
Identify your strength and weakness
4. Revision (use the power of active recall)
• Reorganize
• Simplify
4.2 Active recall applications
1. Blurting method
1.1 choose your source material (read/watch)
1.2 put away the source
1.3 freely recall on blank sheet
1.4 open source and compare and make corrections
1.5 throw away the paper
1.6 take a break
1.7 retry new attempt
1.8 repeat until recall is at acceptable level
2. Feynman technique
- Teach the topic as if that someone is a fifth grader
3. Practice test
Gonna watch this when I get out of school but I had to comment and just say thank you so much for all that you do. As a senior in high school about to go to college you have done so much.
i'm so happy that i can help you!! :)

thanks man, you're literally the greatest in this!!! i think the fact that you're very overwhelmed by the many many comments you get of how people have been learning well with your techniques, it shows that you're really genuine in wanting to share how you study to thousands to millions of people. cheers man hope you have a great sunday
Priming:
- to understand the big picture of the topic before attending the class
How to prime: when: Based on topics: around 2~3 weeks
1 - Identify resources: example. TH-cam
- take notes
- noting repeated words
- points of emphasis
- creating a list of key concepts
- creating groups
- compare the key concepts
- identify similarities
- relationships
- ask: How is the topic relevant to me?
- using the groups creating relations between them
- visually create a diagram: the big picture: the item u have grouped or created relation.
- this shows how the major concepts fit together in the big picture
- Instructions for diagram I:
-Gather all the material about the topic (slides, textbooks, etc)
- Skim resources while making a list of key concepts (terms, headings, images, repeated words)
- Research the unfamiliar key concepts on the list
- Compare the concepts and create groups based on their similarities and differences.
- Make those relationships related through prior knowledge or personal experiences.
- Draw up a diagram of the concepts divided in their groups.
- take a short pre-test: around 5 questions
- helps further analyze how these different concepts come together to solve problems
2 - In class notes
- Annotating on top of Diagram I/diagram II
- creating additional branches, and additional subgroups to the big picture
- jotting down main points for u to remember in relation to the big picture, in relation to other relevant pieces of information
- Add key observations (points you don't know how to fit into the diagram)
- Active recall Question: MUST DO
- Forcefully retrieving the information out of ur brain without the source of the material in front of u
- example:
- Why is this piece of information important?
- How can this information be applied?
- How can it be related to things I've learned before
- how can I alter a variable so that it changes the outcome?
- what's a real-life example of this?
3 - Post-Class immediate review
- helps identify ur strengths and weaknesses
- 30 min before u go to bed
- clean up ur active recall questions from class
- clean up diagram number two that u've made in class
- add some of the key observations into the diagram
- practicing ur active recall questions
4 - Revision
- creating diagram 3
- making this a resource for urself
- reorganize & simplify diagram 1 & 2
- Active recall applications
1. Blurting Method
1 - identify source material, for example: textbook, lecture, etc
2 - read/watch it
3 - put away the source
4 - freely recall on Blank sheet
5 - reopen source & compare & make corrections
6 - throw away the paper
7 - take a break
8 - retry new attempt
9 - repeat the process until the recall is at an acceptable level
2. Feynman technique
1 - use simplified explanations, examples, and analogies as if ur teaching the topic to a fifth-grader
- record urself talking about the topic
3. practice tests
1 - look through practice exams.
-Focus on understanding why ur answers are correct or incorrect.

He is that teacher we never had. Thank you so much, u taught things which no one did.
SOOOOOOOO HAPPPPY TO HEAR THAT!! thank you!! sounds like you're definitely on the right track :)
I'm very grateful I clicked on it ❤
summary at 35:44 - pls watch the video when you have time! It's worth it! Thank you Jun!!
OF COURSE!! that's exactly why i made this video so i'm very happy it could be helpful to you!! :)
I don't know how to thank you for the wealth of knowledge you provide, your willingness and commitment are visible, many thanks once again ❤
Thank you Jun, my first year in undergrad at Stanford was really difficult because I didn't have much structure or clue about how to tackle so much information being thrown at me at once and how to properly synthesize and apply this information. This quarter I've done much better using your techniques and am really confident going to final exams.
How did it go?
how did it go i need to knowwww
@MatthewDarshanTorre
How was it?
And how are you doing now?
I’ve been waiting for a video like this for so long, thank you Jun!! I’m gonna turn my grades around and keep them up with your methods :)
Praying I end up making the marks I need to get accepted into universities and colleges 😭
YOU GOT THIS!! Praying for you!!
18 years of academics and i have never encountered such comprehensive technique to approach learning ....
Truly a life changing and life saver vdo ...thanku jun from deepest part of heart❤
saying that i am impressed is an understatement. i am 3 minutes into the video and absolutely shocked. the way you explain is justice-proof. i usually find it hard to follow someone teaching me something difficult like the process of studying but the way you break everything down and explain it just gets to me. keep up with the great content, and count me in as a new active follower
hope you have a great day ~justice
If only you knew how much your videos, stories and ideas helped me.
Your today’s story even made me cry as i was having a bad day at uni and your words were the last straw.
Its not a bad life, its just a bad day.Thank you for all this🙏🏻
i'm so happy you're here :)
Today is 30th Nov 2023,
I have a test coming up on 17th Dec 2023.
I am going to start using these techniques and hopefully reap positive results.
I'll keep you guys updated throughout this 2 week journey.
Wish me luck!!

Hi Jun.

I dont have a system for math, but it seems the best way to learn math is to do ALOT of math exercises? How do you study math?
I have never even done a single sit and learn with math but Im doing 90% on every exam. Im cursed
Math is one of my favourite subjects and one thing I always do is practicing same set questions repeatedly..
That’s exactly what my professors in Uni have told me, repeat them exercises. I’m an engineering Stundent from Germany btw. Not sure if this is still relevant for you but maybe I can help others with this
That's it brother, we are on the right path.❤
He says in the video that he plans to do that
yes yes. i really want to do an example with my own coursework! i thought the fashion example was good for an introduction as you guys can focus more on the techniques versus the content. since you guys now generally understand the techniques, i can do a video with a different subject matter :)
Learned this from another utuber and he called it 'pre-study' and i must say that its quite effective. Just know that its a skill and you get better at it with practice.
I’ve just gotten into watching videos on how to study and take notes; and then you drop this.....🙌🏾💯🙌🏾👏🏾✨‼️
haha i read your mind
I just came across this channel and this is the first ever video I watched from Jun Yuh. Oddly enough, it gave me goosebumps and sudden surge of motivation, I feel like the tips are life-changing for me espc. I’m having a hard time juggling multiple subjects with so much scope of information per topic. Imma try this out and edit this comment after a month or perhaps post a yt video about it. Thank you so much for these tips Jun Yuh
this is the BEST video about learning I've EVER seen, you've no idea how much you've helped me in these 38 minutes :,)
I feel so fortunate to have stumbled upon this content. I'm excited to utilize this full force, especially once admitted into law school.
Hi ! Biology student here !!
Thank you so much for this video, I took notes from it and I will immediately apply these to my studies !!
I'm in my second year of bachelor's degree and honestly it is very hard and I haven't found any good and efficient study techniques yet. Thank you very much !
Biology student from France :)
Thank you for these videos, currently on my first year of med school and I had no idea that there were better ways to improve my grades and study less time, having my finals in 4 weeks, I will apply it from beginning to end, have a good one!
so excited for you :) go kick some butt!
How,s it going
You explain even the hardest topics in a way that’s easy to understand.
Thank You Sir for the tricks and tecniques .It made my day ... And helped millions of students like me .I am starting my college soon . Much Obliged 😇😊
this was unbelievably helpful- thank u so so much!!
YOU ARE DOING AMAZING!! Good luck!! And thank you so much!!
I was never taught how to actually study in my life, and this definitely helped me now and in the future
Short Summary of the Video: The Learning System
STAGE 1: Priming
Take a short Pre-Test (also part of priming)
1. Give it a genuine attempt, don’t worry about getting the questions wrong (in order to take advantage of the Hypercorrection Effect: When you answered a question with confidence, but later find out that you got it wrong actually helps the information stick better.)
2. Helps the information stick better.
How to do this step better:
Class Notes
1. Annotate over your diagram (or make a new one ) while looking for ways to expand on the information (always focusing on linking the information to the diagram).
Active Recall Questions
1. Broad to specific.
2. Harder to remember stuff.
STAGE 3: Immediate review.
Post-Class immediate review. (30-min before you go to bed: practice your questions and review the info annotated).
STAGE 4: Revision
1. Create a final diagram with the optimized version of the information (reorganize and simplify the information in the previous diagrams).
2. Focus in relationships.
Gral Revision 2
1. Go through every bit of info again.
Explaining
1. Feynman Technique: Simplify the information like you were explaining it to someone else.
Practice exams
1. Do practice exams while reviewing and understanding the questions.
2. Also try and explain why each answer is right or wrong.
3. Look for weakness areas and go through them again.
Underrated comment👏👏
Thanks!
I appreciate the amount of time it took you to write all of this. Thanks❤❤
U actually summarised the vdo without having it edited... impressive 👏
I'm a science major while my mom has been a geography teacher for 20+ yrs..I'm gonna learn the toughest chapter of geography by this technique and update my improvement

Review:
Reorganize or Simplify Diagram (subgroups, illustrations, etc.)
Blurting (write down what you remember from material or source without looking at it; do many attempts)
Feyman Technique (teach at level of 5th grade to a person or aloud to recording; reorganize, give examples, make analogies)
Practice Test (understand why answer is wrong or right)
thanks alot big bro, i have seen multiple videos but they were not as helpful as this video was..... i cant thank u more.... u've helped me so much by making this and now i know the exact approach and steps to follow unlike other videos which just explain a random tip of active recalling or anything else. thanks a lot and hope you make more such videos
OF COURSE!! SO HAPPY TO HELP YOU!!
Im gonna give this a try, cause the work is piling up😭 thank you so much. I just started my first year and this college life is not what I was expecting.

You make even the hardest topics easy to understand.

All school does is tell us what to learn and not how to learn. Btw one thing that always think is that how do these toppers ask questions while I can even understand what the professor is even saying.
AND NOW I KNOW
GOD BLESS U❤❤❤❤❤❤

Have a nice dayyy👋
literally gonna study this video like crazy,, omg
i've been homeschooled online since like, 3rd grade. it's really easy to cheat and while i don't think i didn't absorb anything, i definetly am not where i want to be academically. i'm skipping sr year going to college next year in spring, and i swear that (with God's help) i will be where i want to be academically by then. i'll have fixed my terrible habits FOR SURE!!!!!!
