Before I followed you, I was a very lazy student. I had no motivation, my exam grades were very low. I got a 20 on the physics exam. After following you, I decided to change my comfort zone. For the first time in my life, I wanted to study. I started learning not just to get high grades, I learned that information thinking that I should normally know it. I also started doing sports. I feel happier now. I took the physics exam a few days ago and got a 90. Thank you Jun ❤
Waw that so impressive so your expérience prove that is never late to do the right things thank you to share your expérience that give me more motivation !
I'm proud of you, to be honest I'm also going through similar struggles. Math has always been my weakness i was never able to calculate as fast as anyone could, ive never been taught how to study, because I seek to be a smart person who gets the grades, etc, but I dont know where to begin. Sorry if this is too long.
Summary: Understanding Neuroplasticity Definition: Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life. Importance: Understanding neuroplasticity is crucial as it underpins our ability to transition knowledge from short-term to long-term memory through repeated practice. Key Learning Techniques (1) Active Recall Concept: Retrieving information from memory without cues, which strengthens memory and enhances learning effectiveness. Application: Suggested using active recall before, during, and after classes to build a solid foundation of knowledge, facilitating easier revision later. (2) Spaced Repetition Concept: A learning technique that involves increasing intervals of time between subsequent review of previously learned material to exploit the psychological spacing effect. Effectiveness: Helps combat the forgetting curve, which shows how information retention declines over time without revision. (3) Interleaved Practice Concept: Mixing different topics or forms of practice during study sessions to improve problem-solving skills and deepen understanding. Application: Encourages students to mix different types of problems or topics in a study session, which can help in applying knowledge more flexibly and effectively. Importance of Sleep Role in Learning: Sleep is crucial for memory consolidation, where the brain transfers and secures learned information from short-term to long-term memory. Advice: Prioritizing sleep over last-minute studying can significantly enhance performance and long-term retention. Thank you for sharing Jun Yuh!
1. Active Recall-5-10 Pre Test Questions (tendency to learn better when corrected on an answer) how can this be tested? How is this relevant? How is this important? In what context can this be applied? What are some examples that this information could be tested with? 2. Spaced Repetition-Forgetting curve points out we lose information rapidly. New material interval between study is shorter and relevant information interval is longer. Do this in the beginning of semester. 3. Interleaving-Randomize the order of materials so you can move past context to knowing tools to use for each question. Desirable difficulty, harder it is to learn better it will stick. 4. Sleep or Deep Rest-Neuroplacisticy initiated by deep focus. The memory consolidation happens in sleep. All nighters compromise your learning because it's two step process. This will help you to keep information later for other high level classes.
Time stamps 4:19 Secret 1 "Active Recall" 8:15 Secret 2 "Spaced repetition" 11:38 Secret 3 "Interleaving" (can someone PLEASE explain this to me as if I'm a 5 year old, I'm stupid)(how is this different from blocked practice?) 15:35 Secret 4 "Sleep/Deep Rest"
Alr so interleaving practice basically means random practice. That is if we use the example he used in the vid, the hw given in school on daily basis follows blocked practice. They teach you a concept and you are given hws based on that exact concept. Hence you are basically learning the same skill under same conditions (causes limited knowledge transfer). So when some diff type of question is asked, something with more variability you won’t be able to answer it properly. That’s where interleaving is introduced. It basically allows us to practice stuff which actually allows us to think, as they consist of different types of questions with different skills. So different skills under different condts (causes more knowledge transfer).
