If you spend any time in Taiwan (especially in recent years) you will be amazed at what an open and gay friendly country it has become. Seeing same sex couples holding hands is not at all unusual, particularly in Taipei. The cultural change that has occurred in this country is truly astounding. My first visit to Taiwan was in 2001 and my most recent visit was in June of 2023.
They sure are! We only listed 5, but Portugal and Mexico hit our top 10 (actually, Portugal was my # 2 a couple of years ago, until housing prices multiplied)
@ having a gay is important particularly since I’m over 55 a gay local community is important, The Azores just hit my radar but cant get a handle on if there is much of a community there
Re: Portugal in WWII: I'm sure you know that the Portuguese dictator, Salazar, was in power from 1932 to 1968. He was more right wing than Franco. He kept Portugal as neutral as Franco kept Spain, which is to say, very right wing pro nazi & not very neutral. But, you're right - this position did prevent Portugal from getting bombed.

Good catch!! Haha What was he thinking??? 🤣
@@evangaryhirsch OMG--I just looked at the transcript--Indeed I did mention Mexico City in my discussion of Spain...Yikes!
@@PrideNomad Well to be fair, you did discuss Mexico in the very next chapter... ☺♥🏳🌈

Wow! A blast from the past! How are you doing?
I like the list, my husband and I are looking to venture out and Portugal and Mexico are contenders

Agreed. Easy to look back on today. I can’t imagine what it was like to be there at that time..
