      What makes it even worse is the fact that they'll probably induct him into the HOF now that he is no longer alive. If I were him and I was resurrected, and then I found out that in my death, I was finally inducted into the HOF, I'd be upset about that. I would like to have received that honor while I was still alive. At least allow me some time to enjoy the moment. Why wait until I'm dead?

    100% agreement. I remember back in 74 or 75, we were gathered around the tv watching the Cowboys. I cannot remember who we were playing. It was a goal line stand. The running back took the hand off and dove over the O line. Jordan came running from the end zone and dove over the D line. They had a head on, mid-air collision. It was like a Mac truck hitting a butterfly. Jordan knocked him back into the backfield. Everyone in the room let out, in unison, a giant oooooohhhhh! It's all we talked about in practice for a week.
    Everson walls was not a corner. He was a ball hawk. Corners play the receiver and ball hawks play the ball. Corners are defensive and ball hawks are aggressive, offensive, pirates.
    Woodson was the best of both Jordan and Walls.
    Jones and Martin were yhe best bookends in NFL histoy.
    The hall of fame really ought to be held accountable for their failures.

    One of the biggest obstacles (besides the obvious voter bias for the HOF) for Walls, Martin and Jones is that they aren't even in the Cowboys Ring Of Honor. I think that really hurt Bob Hayes and Drew Pearson taking forever to get into HOF because it took too long to induct them into the ROH. All these anti-Cowboy writers that have votes can just use the excuse, "He's not even in the team's own ROH so why put them in Canton?"
    Somebody REALLY needs to get Jerry to rectify that. I was hoping that Gil Brandt could've been an influence, but look how long it took Jerry to put Gil in the ROH.

      Didn't Dallas keep Leroy Jordan out of the ROH for many years because of his relationship with Landry?

    • @texasstadium
      @texasstadium 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Jordan's held out for a better contract which caused a long time rift with Tex Schramm. Tex was a an old fashioned guy and was a notorious cheapskate when it came to paying the players (but he spent lavishly on frills that he liked). Landry was the "yes sir" military man as long as Schramm left him alone with team on the field. Later, in the 1980's, the Dallas "salary structure" caused a lot of morale problems particularly when playing the highly paid (and therefore loyal and motivated) Washington Redskins, SanFrancisco 49ers, and others. Tex hamstrung Landry big time.@@cliftonconnor9389

    What's even worse to me than the fact that these 5 guys aren't in the HOF is that Jones, Martin and Walls aren't even in the Ring of Honor. Think about that one for a second, even within the Cowboys organization those guys got snubbed. And given how petty Jerry Jones can be on the one hand and how long it's been since those guys retired it's extremely unlikely that they will ever be added to the ROH. People forget that Everson Walls won a Super Bowl as well when he went to the Giants in 1990 as a safety. For the Giants he was a great pick up. I think with Too Tall him leaving the NFL for boxing for a year left a bad taste in a lot of people. For Harvey Martin, that's just insane that from the mid 70's up to the early 80's he was the most feared defensive end. Winning defensive player of the year and having all those sacks. I think his drug use kept him out so far. For Darren Woodson, that's the crazy part why he's not in the hall. 3 Super Bowl wins, and being a good that could be played anywhere as a linebacker and as a safety is beyond me.

      Because of one mistake, the Cowboys were not known as leading the 1970s. Jackie Smith dropped the TD pass, Dallas loses the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh is the 70's team.
      The 90's team could have completely dominated football had Jimmy Johnson stayed. Probably winning 4 Super Bowls in a row. Maybe 5 and been the dynasty of the 90s.

    Somehow, I missed this video 5 months ago. I totally agree with all of these snubbed HOF players. Top of the list Too Tall Jones. I watched film where Too Tall deflected passes and resulted in defensive TDs by Jeffcoat against the Giants and the Rams (I think). All of these players bring a warm feeling to my heart as part of my SE Texas upbringing and my Dad's undying love for the Dallas Cowboys, which inevitably, I share to this day. I sincerely hope that one day we will be able to overcome the decades long curse that has pervaded our Cowboys from reaching that ultimate pinnacle of Super Bowl Champion, even though it seems not to be such a great achievement in this sad modern day. I won't go on about that, and I praise the motivation of today's athletes in their quest for greatness. Keep it up people, keep striving to be the best. Great list. Totally agree. Jones, Jordan, and Walls were all major reasons why the Cowboys Defense was known as the Doomsday Defense in the late 70's and early 80's. And Darren Woodson was just on another level as a DB. It seems like nowadays, a great NFL player becoming a HOF nominee is more of a popularity contest than it is about their statistics and their dominating game play. If course, that's just my personal opinion. One last thing....

    I agree with that list. I believe Jay Novacek, Darryl the Moose Johnson, Nate Newton, Erik Williams, Mark Tuina, and Mark Stepnoski were also snubbed from the HOF. Why only one offensive lineman from what is considered the greatest O-line of all time was inducted into the HOF is beyond my comprehension.
    I was about to say that there was a bias against the Dallas Cowboys but then I reviewed the top teams with the most HOF inductees. The Dallas Cowboys are in a 3 way tie for 3rd place all time with 32 players in the HOF. Just shy of the Packers at 33 and the Bears at 37.
    In light of this information it's hard to make such a case considering that the Packers and Bears have been around since the birth of the NFL and the Cowboys have been around since 1960. The two teams tied with the Dallas Cowboys are the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins. They also have been in the NFL way longer than the Cowboys.
    So it's rather impressive for the Cowboys to be that competitive with teams who have been around for a much longer time period.

    • @krl97a
      @krl97a 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      About half those players primarily played for other teams. There was a strong anti-Cowboys bias in HoF voting from around 1980 through the mid 2000s. Until 2006 Dallas only had 5(!) primary players in the HoF. But it's true that a good amount of Cowboys have been inducted in recent years, making up a lot of lost ground. The Cowboys should have more in the HoF than other teams because they've been more successful and have more great players than other teams. So, while I don't think the current snubs are travesties yet the way Howley's, Pearson's, and Harris' exclusions were, as long as the top guys on this list are inducted eventually, it's likely that without the bias some like Jordan or Woodson would already be in.

The thing I used to think of when Walls was in his first two years was how did all the other teams that drafted ahead of us pass on him? It was like with Larry Allen in that if people had known how good he was going to be both of them might have been the overall #1 pick.

      back then Dallas did a very good job of drafting players from small unknown colleges. Gil Brandt is the grandfather of modern day scouting. Ed Jones and Everson Walls both went to HBCUs. Brandt was a forward thinker in the 60s and 70s. scouting at black colleges. so if the other teams weren't sending scouts to HBCUs then they probably didn't thing these guys were going to be good. Larry Allen went to a college that doesn't even have a football team anymore. Sonoma St. We would call Allen Walls and Jones diamonds in the rough. But the schools and people who watched them play already knew these guys were destined to be special players.

    • @thelogicalcowboy
      @thelogicalcowboy  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @troyc4250
      I think the more intriguing question is, *Can* Dallas beat Miami? I think they can. Quinn's scheme is made for passing offenses like Miami. Miami leads the league in 2.1 pocket time, so their scheme is not an explosive downfield offense. They typically rely on YAC yards. If we tackle, we should be fine. Believe it or not, I'm worried about their run game, if anything. It looks like we can't stop the run, but that's not true at all. Yes, Miami is 2nd in the league in rushing YAC after contact, but believe it or not, Dallas leads the league in not missing tackles. They are 13th in the league in yards allowed per carry. It's not an elite defense vs. the run, I'll say that. But there are about 12 other teams who are worse. Dallas is 14th in rushing yards allowed. But because our passing defense is so deadly in pass rushing and coverage, teams will try and run the ball.
      So what do you do to teams who will try to use that as a weakness on our defense? On offense, score points. This game is going to come down to Dallas dictating the flow on their side of the ball by getting a lead early. What this will do is force Miami to take chances down the field, which is something that they hardly ever do. They are currently ranked 26th in the league in intended air yards. And if they do throw down the field, that means their league-leading 2.1 pocket time for Tua is going to increase due to longer routes. Trust me, they don't want that because Parsons is going to get his wish. If Dallas is going to win this, it's going to come down to how our offense plays vs. their defense. Not the other way around. Sorry for the long post. I probably should have done a video on this, lol.

    I agree wholeheartedly with this list. These are absolute snubs. I still don’t know why Ed “Too Tall” Jones has been snubbed. I even thought that Walls was inducted, but how can he not be? This is beyond ridiculous! I know people say that Woodson’s time will eventually come, but I also thought that about Charlie Waters, who I believe would have been #6 on this list. The inane arguments against Martin is bull. The claim he wasn’t dominant enough long enough is a false excuse, and the one about Jordan is insane too, claiming that he didn’t get selected because of the time he played, which coincided with the times of other great middle linebackers like Dick Butkus, Ray Nitschke and Sam Huff. Those are false excuses because for years they maintained the reason against Drew Pearson before he finally got elected is because his
    numbers did not match up with the numbers put up by receivers since then that have been due to the many change in the rules to promote a passing game and to protect quarterbacks and receivers against the brutal hits he endured and still thrived in when he played. This is a great list and I appreciate it. Thanks again for your brilliance.
