    the Estonian crowd is usually quite reserved so the fact that they are partying to this song is a testament to its popularity! such a fun number, culturally significant and bringing the party to Eurovision. ma armastan teid eesti vennad, 12 points from finland

    the dark horse of this year in my humble opinion

  • @LCDVF
    @LCDVF 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +60

    **Introduction and Verse 1**: The song starts with a denial of drug use, setting a humorous and sarcastic tone. The lyrics describe a scene where the only "bag" on the table is a bag of Lay's chips, humorously contrasting typical drug raid imagery with mundane reality. The mention of finding clothes in the trash and being featured in the police chronicles paints a picture of misfits or underdogs.
    **Pre-Chorus and Chorus**: The chorus plays with the theme of innocence and misunderstanding. The mention of not knowing drugs, but knowing soft drinks and cider, and confusing vitamins with speed, adds layers of irony. The mention of "clouds and mushrooms - where are your threads?" could symbolize a playful ignorance or a deeper commentary on natural versus synthetic pleasures.
    **Verses 2 and 3**: These verses continue the theme of avoidance of drugs, not due to disinterest but due to economic status ("because we're not rich"). The lyrics also play with visual imagery, like "glasses are pupils," suggesting that perceptions can be misleading or superficial, and only those "in the front row" truly understand the reality.
    The song cleverly uses humor and irony to discuss serious topics like drug use and societal perceptions. It keeps the tone light and engaging while poking fun at stereotypes and misunderstandings, making it a clever choice for an international audience at Eurovision.
    (Five miinust as if one is missing or almost as good as it gets, as there are four rappers” and Puuluup +2 means a wooden sampler basically)
    Their album if tranlated even by GPT type Ai is so deep that I am reconsidering being: “Külakiigel pole stopperit” on popular streamer. This album title means going round and round in social Estonian context (and to add even more context it means misery and survival that in our culture means love and play)

    The Puuluup guys, the ones with instruments, are professors of folk music. The group 5miinust is a rap group. It's a very magical mixture, but I feel like the youtube video doesn't bring the music through properly. Hopefully at Eurovision that won't be a problem.

      Puuluup (the 2 guys with the old instruments) played on Dranouter a few weeks ago, these guys are great. We couldn't understand a word, but their understated humour, their great harmonies, and of course, the traditional instruments, they were a real hit with the crowd.

    5miinust is one of the most popular bands in Estonia and this masterpiece is a one-off collaboration with Puuluup, who are a relatively obscure (until now!) folk duo. The song is called “We (really) don’t know anything about (these) drugs’” and it talks freely and openly about recreational drug use and raids on drug dealers and what bastards the cops can are, ruining everyone’s high when they show up.

    • @DaneBramageROCKS

    • @johannnar6239
      @johannnar6239 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +28

      @@DaneBramageROCKS that’s not exactly the right explanation, it’s more about being anti-drugs, saying they don’t know what drugs are & how they don’t mind the police because they’ve got nothing the police could catch them out for :) Examples are the chorus “I don’t know drugs, I only know lemonade and cider - I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between vitamins and speed” and “Russulas & champignons, where’s your mycelium? You fire up my body like a kitchen stove” (preferring food mushrooms over psychedelic ones). And also the line about only having IPA (type of beer) on their backstage tables, again saying they don’t do drugs, if anything then alcohol.
      Similarly the chorus says “We’ll be partying tonight - you’ll hear us tonight - but take that bag away” once again saying no to drugs.

    • @arturepler2568
      @arturepler2568 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      i don't know to cry or laugh, if they knew what actually said or what an Estonian hears is :
      in the water honey booty and half kick
      vees = in the water
      mee+noos(t)=honey + booty
      and
      pool +(h)oop = half + kick(or hit)

    Just say "poo-loop". It means "wooden magnifier", btw, but the meaning is irrelevant, it is just a nice palindrome.
