I love that it's Alexander in love with her. All the other animatics portray Alex as a money hungry player, who had really little to no interest in Eliza, and that Eliza chased after him. In this one it gives him a lot more character, and makes him seem less of a greedy bastard and more like a man with feeling.

This video reminded me what I liked so much about Hamilton, which is that it is basically history headcanon. Lin got a lot of ideas about characterization for all these historical figures, like what if George Washington was like the very serious dad type, and Jefferson was this sarcastic annoying older brother, and Hamilton was this scrappy kid with very little plan but a lot of raw talent and determination(just like me??!!). And put together all these relationships and plot threads. And he got very excited about this very fun version of the story in his head, and it turned into a really cool piece of art. People have (very righteously) been criticizing the show for the way it approaches the nation's history and brushes off slavery, but it really isn't an exercise in history. It's an exercise in storytelling with history as a backdrop.
