You didn't do anything wrong, but suddenly you are forever stuck in what is essentially an infinite world of bland hell, slowly starving or going mad from the silence and loneliness you have to experience as no hope remains and you have to accept your death as something out of your control. Once people randomly started adding monsters to it, then it suddenly lost the thing that made it interesting, and merely became another haunted house.
If an entity sees 3 dudes vibing after killing a fellow entity. You know they joining in. It's probably the most interesting thing that would happen to them in their entire existence in the backrooms

And this was exactly how our backrooms trip ended actually. It was me and my husband and our best friend. We had been there for about a week and that thing kept testing our patience so we finally decided to just attack.
Random idea: A horror movie where the group manages to kill the monster or one of multiple. They catch their breaths and take a closer look, then start dancing like in the video without any warning or prompt. They go back just as suddenly and act like nothing happened. Bonus points: As director I'd also refuse to aknowledge the scene, pretending I don't know what people are talking about and all actors and other staff also may not aknowledge it as part of a NDA.
I have a running theory that the Backrooms become significantly less scary with catchy music playing, regardless of how many monsters are present or how alone an explorer is. I'm not sure if this vid helps my hypothesis, but I shall keep it in mind forever.
