    Excellent just wish I viewed it before I replaced my upper control arm - without releasing the torsion adjuster spring first !!! Yes snapped both the bolts like carrots and then a nightmare tracking down replacements thanks for showing.

    Hi. Just did my wishbone assembly..
    Same procedure..but removed the lower plastic cover.. easier access to those big internal bolts.. max 1hr job on ramp. These balljoint assembly and the rear diff arm bush are the common fault on these vans..

      Yes, me too. Can't believe I didn't mention it in the video.

    Thanks heaps - so if you wanted a higher vehicle - you would simply wind those two bolts more than the 60mm you had?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello, if lifting it at the front, full 60mm, how to lift the back?
    Can the springs at the back be replaced by bigger Hilux springs?

    I have a 2010 hiace like this. How did you diagnose this problem. Was it picked up during routine maintenance or the MOT? My steering is slightly left side down. I was wondering if this could be the issue. I wouldn't want to change the tyres and get the alignment done. To then find out the wishbone either side needed to replaced, Thanks. 👍

      Found doing routine checks. Raise the vehicle on a Jack, enough so the tyre is just clear of the ground. You can then use a bar (or a garden spade if you've nothing else) to apply up-down, in-out, movement against the suspension and you can feel the play. CAREFUL not to dislodge the jack during this process. Better still to get someone else to do the donkey work on the bar, whilst you observe the movement, but don't crawl under in case they dislodge the jack. No good trying to apply pressure by hand (as on a car), as there is too much weight, you need to use a bar to lever it.

    If you adjust the height of the van by adjusting the torsion bars , does this then affect the wheel alignment or camber etc ? Will there need to be an alignment done?

      I don't think the range of movement would create a serious change, although you could argue that any change will alter the geometry, even if only slightly.

    Just watched your tutorial on the front upper suspension. I noticed that the unit you fitted wasn't a genuine Toyota part, did you have problems when replacing part? Does it effect the drive as the driver side front upper suspension is the original part. ie softer threads on after sales /spurious parts.

      I was a bit worried that the ball joint appeared a little too loose for a new item. But, so far all good and no excessive play has shown itself so far.

    Could you advice the Torsion bar nuts clockwise or anticlockwise to loose?

    • @ryanmcdonald6635
      @ryanmcdonald6635 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anti clockwise, there is a head at the top of the bolt which you hold with a spanner and loosen nuts as normal

      What do you mean when you say you can't find a "new" one? Doesn't your nearest Toyota dealership have new suspension parts?

    Is it possible to adjust the front ride height from those bolts on the torsion bar underneath the Hiace?

    • @deuceelec
      @deuceelec  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, be sure to measure clearance each side before you start, allow suspension to settle after adjustment, then measure again. Repeat until desired ride height reached. Too much "may" alter steering geometry.

      @@deuceelec does turning clockwise ie tightening increase or decrease ride height?

    • @tristanbadger
      @tristanbadger ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adamothirteen Tightening (clockwise) raises/increases ride height. Loosening (anticlockwise) lowers/decreases ride height.
