    Hello strangers. So, when I was doing this reaction when I was thinking of the size of the Hadron collider. I had the Cosmotron in mind. Sorry for the confusion!

      I believe he became a pacifist after the bomb was made. Cause in college he tried to kill a classmate with a poisoned apple. I think the bomb was a reality check that finally shattered his ego and fed his guilt enough to make him understand there are consequences for his actions. Really a lot of people whose work directly or indirectly created the atom bomb had some messed up personal lives and kind of explains how such evil weapons got made, cause the people making them were messed up.

    'A pencil-pushing Terran who never learned to love his bomb' is most likely a reference to Stanley Kubrick's war comedy 'Dr. Strangelove (Or: How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb)'

    In the comic, Thanos mother, after giving birth to him, literally tried to kill him (which I am pretty sure the mother line from Oppenheimer was a reference to).. Growing up, he was actually really well liked by his classmates, until he met Death, he then slaughtered them all.. Along with his mother..

    I felt Thanos had a strong first round but hurt himself in the second round when he brought up the Thanos Copter & Fortnight while J. Robert Oppenheimer was dropping Atomic Bombs throughout the rap battle 😊

    • @Bobal27

      I wasn’t a fan of the fortnight bar myself, but the Thanos Copter bar gets much disrespect and discredit from those who didn’t pick up the pun. I missed it many times before I saw one reactor catch it.
      “Got my name on this win(d) like it’s the Thanos Copter.”

  • @marcusc9931
    @marcusc9931 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    "I am become Death, destroyer of worlds" is indeed from an old Hindu book, but Oppenheimer changed the context of this quote. In the actual story, the hero is hesitating to go to battle, thinking of all the death and horror it will bring. To presuade him, Krishna shows off his most powerful form, which is an embodiment of time, devouring everything. So the original intended meaning was something along the lines of: "look, no matter what you do, everybody dies one day. The only thing that will matter is whether you did the right thing."

    When Thanos mentions "For a communist Pariah" this is actually a subtle reference to a DC character named Pariah.
    Pariah is a DC character who unintentionally causes the destruction of the entire DC multiverse, where he is forced to watch as alternate earths are destroyed by something he caused, similarly to Oppenheimer and his bomb. ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pariah_(comics) )
    Just a subtle nod that a lot of people miss :)
    Edit: I decided to mention a little bit more, just to further prove the reference.
    "In his home dimension, Kell Mossa was one of the most gifted scientists to have ever lived. Arrogantly hoping to unlock the mysteries of the universe, and flying in the face of his people's concerns,"
    He blamed himself for the destruction of his own world, the release of the Anti-Monitor, and the subsequent destruction of universe after universe"
