Thank you for the video. I purchased a 16 button + 2 knob macro pad from temu similar to the one you have. This seems to be an inexpensive way to make a diy macro pad using Adafruit KB2040. All I have to do is figure out the pin connections, de-solder the built-in chip, and add wires to the KB2040. I will probably design a 3D printed bottom to accommodate the extra thickness.

Nope the layer is supposed to be a toggle for a different mode. The video above just seems to switch to being inside the application, and I'm getting errors about files not being found, etc. 100% sure I'm doing this wrong.
Download whatever is from the Google share. If it's in a zip file, you need to extract everything before trying to run it. If a standard run does not work, try running it as admin. Also, it only seems to work with windows 10, windows 11 is not stable.
Windows is having so much trouble with this when I try to run the app. In this case it is actually easier for me to do it in Linux with comparability of WINE.
hi guys,,I wondering that is it work in photoshop? like using it for change the size of the brush cursor by rotating the KNOB, i'm planing to buy it. and also,, is the knob rotate smoothly? like there's no gap when we rotated it. thank you.
Yeah it’ll work in photoshop, you just need to bind the keys to the right symbols. Nearly every action in photoshop has an equivalent keyboard shortcut. You can even modify the shortcuts if you need to in the photoshop settings. The knob is clicky. There are distinct steps as discussed in the video.
I am using a Windows 10 PC and my Device is not showing up as Connected in the Software although it is. I tried anything but I can not find a way to get it working. Any Ideas?
I would start with windows itself. 1. Is the device showing up in windows device manager when plugged in? Does it show any sign of life? Like printing the default c when pressed. 2. If no, try another usb port. 3. If all usb ports fail, try another machine 4. If that all fails then it’s probably the macropad that’s faulty. 5. If it’s connected and print the default c but software does not recognise it, confirm that your device is the same as the one I tore down in the video, unscrew yours and ensure it generally looks the same. 6. Try running the software as administrator. If that all fails, explain your procedure again here as detailed as possible and we’ll see if we can figure it out. If one of the steps works, do report back so that maybe it’ll help someone else.
@@ZwiebelConnaisseur Okay, have you checked if it’s the same chip family? Or tried running the program as admin? There’s 2 programs by the way, feel free to try both. One I used in the video and another that a fellow TH-camr introduced.

Thanks for the video, i wonder if you can use the knob to play games like Arkanoid. In this case, can you configure the knob to move as a mouse left and right in an analog way? It seems you can only set left click, middle and right click functions only.
Nope, as far as I know it’s not possible to directly assign those kinds of commands. I would normally suggest autohotkey for custom mapping but with gaming I’m not sure if it’ll add additional latency. Then again, it’s been a well known finding that these devices have a pretty low polling rate that really doesn’t make them suitable for gaming. You’ll get very poor response times.
@@randomnick2890 Thank you very much for your reply, you were very helpful. I thought i could use it for this kind of gaming but with latency, it would be frustrating and unplayable.
Not a good idea. 1. The knob is stepped, so there's quite a bit of friction when trying to turn and it has a set turn amount. 2. The polling rate of the device is not high enough for most games that require fast input. 3. Its just really small. Unless you're gonna hold it with 2 hands or have a way to mount / stick it to a desk, its not going to stay in one place
I got the software to read my keypad, it says connected. but when ever i try programming anything to any key / "downloading" the programs, I get an Error Window Saying "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application" and more error messages, Anyone encountered the same problem? and any way to fix it?

Yeah, that's what I've been informed too. I don't have a Mac to test, so I can't verify. I was told that the programming tool is only available for windows, once programmed, the combos will work with any machine as the macros are stored on device.
It's all about key binds. If you can bind the sound to a specific key combo, then it's possible. If you want it to do it from the ori software, then nope, that's not possible.
Yes the keys macro instruction will work with mac but the software to program it is only available on windows so you’ll need to use a windows machine to program it before it’s usable on Mac

and also,, is the knob rotate smoothly? like there's no gap when we rotated it.

3. If all usb ports fail, try another machine
@@randomnick2890 it is showing up in the device Manager, the layer button is working, and there are random keybinds on the makropad

Okay, have you checked if it’s the same chip family?
Or tried running the program as admin?
There’s 2 programs by the way, feel free to try both.
One I used in the video and another that a fellow TH-camr introduced.
I have this same keypad. I programmed the buttons, but I'd like to change what is programmed to a couple of buttons. Can you change the programmed macro or are they set once you program it once? I get an error message when trying to change macro programming.
I can change my / reprogram them without any issues.
The base module can only hold one macro per key.

@@ghilsinger74 check the video description. The Google drive link is the one that was used in the video. There’s another app that was also shared by a different user, I’ve not used it personally.

I thought i could use it for this kind of gaming but with latency, it would be frustrating and unplayable.
mine does not activate the leds, why is it? do they bring the keycaps?
The key caps don’t affect the leds. There’s the option in the programming tool to configure the led mode, have you tried the different modes?
I'm wondering, can i assign the Knob as steering wheel if we wanna play a rally/car racing game? Thanks in advance.

This macro pad support 3 layers, I wonder how can I switch between each layer? I've already downloaded software, but I didn't find any clue about it.

My seller informed me that the wired version does not support the layers function, its only available with the bluetooth version.
