Zwadderich. 😀 Zwadder is an old Dutch word for snake poison. The Dutch translation might sound odd to foreigners but the translation is actually very creative and logical in Dutch and even won a price.
Yes its very surprising how meny languages changed it's names for completely different. But in our polish version we also got original names. Just of course with our harder accent ;)
I find very surprising that many dubs changed at least one of the houses' names. Seems only both Spanish dubs, German, Turkish and Thai respected the actual names.
y qué más da decirlo con la misma pronunciación? (que por cierto, slytherin lo dijo mal btw) si en el idioma español esas palabras no existen, las dirás como las lees, al igual pasa con los guiris diciendo Barselouna en vez de Barcelona y todas las comparaciones que hayan xDD
At random? This is called "translation". Depending on whether a proper name means something to the reader of the book in the source language, it's sometimes best to translate it as in way which is also meaningful. FWIW, Tolkien left detailed notes on which proper names should be translated and how, and which should be left alone. With HP, translators were also trying to do their best. You may disagree with their decisions, but they aren't "random" for sure.
Hindi is very… odd… it’s like they didn’t really understand the need of giving a unique translation to the Hogwarts houses so nothing interesting Garrudwar (Gryffindor) literally means ‘Eagle Gate’ (wtf lol) Mehnatkash (Hufflepuff) means ‘Hardworking’ (lazy…) Cheelghat (Ravenclaw) means ‘Vulture wharf’ Naagshakti (Slytherin) means ‘Serpent/snake power’ 😂😂😂😂😂😂
If some people dont understand hungarian then at least dont pronounce it wrong in the comments Gryffindor= Griffendél Hufflepuff=Hugrabugg Ravenclaw=Hollóhát Slytherin=Mardekár
