Been living here a few months now and the main downside is the transportation and lack of good sidewalks on the outskirts of the city and also near outlet malls/shopping centers. But I like that organizations like FW Trails are taking matters into their own hands and investing donations into trails all around the city. Makes the city much more walk and bike friendly.
Dave....you really are all heart here with helping us to get an accurate, in-depth, honest picture of your very special City! Inviting, helpful, gracious, sincere, easy-going, mellow, friendly...you exemplify "Midwest nice"! 👍🏼 I personally can't understand how anybody would choose to live in any BIG U.S. City...because it seems the larger the City, the ruder and more aloof the people are. I’ve lived here my entire life and I do plan on moving away from the fort but I don’t really have anything bad to say about Fort Wayne. It’s been evolving so much since 2010 and who knows what it’ll be like 10 years from now. I’m always going to love Fort Wayne even tho I want to move out of here
It's common for individuals to seek new experiences and opportunities in different places. No matter where life takes you, the memories and experiences from Fort Wayne will likely stay with you.
You left out a few things. Transportation do not run on sundays and stop at 8:15pm m-f. No trains. Food suck. And don't catch a case. Allen County has the second highest conviction rate in the State. And if you are convicted of any crime no matter if its, traffic, misdemeanor, or felony, you will always have to pay a hefty fine and/or jail time. There are people in the county jail that is serving years instead of serving years in a actually prison. Trust me I know personally.
I've live here since 2007, I'm not the biggest fan. It is what you make it. but you don't start with a lot. I've noticed the top thing is the people, much less people celebrating and thankful (you can label them rude) than in Cleveland where I'm from. People are more scared here, they think there's much more violence downtown than is actual, for example. There's so many perception issues here. like people thinking there's traffic anywhere. Heh. I just get the vibe it's such a closed off population. I'm not the biggest fan of this place.
If there's anything specific you find challenging or if you have any questions, feel free to share. It's always interesting to hear about people's experiences in different cities and how those experiences shape their perspectives.
I’m going to be completely honest here. I’ve lived in Fort Wayne practically my whole life and the way this city functions is almost like a town. They shut the bus stations down early when they should run 24/7, to many business close early, as far as raising your kids here from when there born to the time they finish middle school it’s a good place for sure but once they get into high school it’s a whole another ball game Theres not a lot of community groups for teenagers to get into here unless your in sports or in some other event after school, but if your kid is not into those things there more then likely to be partying or doing drugs and if not that there spending there time in the house or going to a park or something. and as far as the people most can be nice but there is a big racial problem here and honestly for anyone who lives in Fort Wayne and says that’s not true idk what world there living in because it does effect a lot of things here in Fort Wayne such as jobs and opportunities to do certain things within the city, and etc. Now as things to do and opportunities to get ahead in life Fort Wayne is just not that place. Now if your rich and you make good money and you come and retire here your going to have a real good time. We have the best Zoo in the country I believe or at least up there and it’s pretty chill for the most part depending on where u live but there are honestly a lot more cons I feel like and I’m just speaking from my experiences.
I totally agree with you. I left Ft. Wayne in 1980 and have never thought of moving back. I believe if you are republican and white, you will love Ft. Wayne.
@@Blessedone1953 Same here, I left in 98 and don't miss it at all. I can't get a DL for medical reasons so I need public transportation, I never ask people for rides. I know most people out there despise California but I'd rather live in a small apartment here than a mansion out there.
Thank you for sharing your honest perspective on living in Fort Wayne. It's valuable to hear firsthand experiences about the strengths and challenges of a community. If you have any specific questions or if there's anything else you'd like to share, feel free to let me know.
Fort Wayne also has a bunch of surrounding campgrounds in lakes eight awesome Cub Scouts and Boys and Girls Club and I appreciate you mentioned in the homeless I'm a homeless man that tries really really hard that does not have any drug addictions will take in urinalysis or blood test I go day-to-day from a motel to a 10 don't know when I'm going to be able to get on my feet I was very much love to get involved with somebody that's going to give back to the homeless and it sounds like you're interested please get back to me if there's anything I can do to give back I don't want anything for it

in all honestly they should of never made parkview field, the wizards stadium was better over near the coliseum, alread lost a few land marks due to roundabouts and othee bullshit they wanna do.. And if they really want to revamp something make the Ft Wayne zoo bigger instead of taking exhibits out that were there since day 1 for something new.. Fucking disgusted with what ft wayne is becoming.. And before people wanna get butthurt.. I was raised over on Rose off fairfield, and then Washington apartments almost in the heart of downtown.. Its shitty seeing the city I was raised in turn for the worse.. Let alone the pieace of shit shopping square that sucks so bad it's not even considered a mall. Jefferson Pointe is more of a mall than Glenbrook.
Change can be challenging, and it's understandable to feel a sense of loss for what once was. If there's anything specific about these changes that you find particularly troubling or if you have other thoughts to share, feel free to express them. It's an opportunity to reflect on the evolving character of Fort Wayne and the impact it has on the community.
You lost me when you trumpeted "diversity" in Fort Wayne. Having lived in a very "diverse" part of the country for thirty years now, all I can say is it's not all it's cracked up to be. And those "diverse" little communities have a funny way of making themselves exclusive and not inclusive of white people, i.e., they tend to only make friends of their own race, hire strictly their own race in their businesses, and otherwise only look out for their race. Don't try telling me this can't be so, I've been watching it happen for three decades. Only white people ever seem to be expected to embrace "diversity". You don't hear non-white people complaining about a "lack of diversity" when they're the majority. I can tell you that for a fact. So be careful what you wish for out in Fort Wayne.
My favorite places in fort wayne I like the rose gardens on lake if shopping is your thing Jefferson Pointe has great shopping along with coliseum area I like the wells street corridor also they've really done alot with downtown the past few years c street is great at night if ya like baseball Parkview field is one of thee best minor league fields in the Midwest and they shoot of fireworks after the games I love all the historic churches I love that fort wayne is also a melting pot of different cultures and people living in harmony for the most part crime in fort wayne is fairly low for a city its size never felt unsafe even in rougher parts of town also plenty of places to eat if you are a foody only thing is downtown parking 😆 lots of events at the coliseum and downtown they do free live music by the library in the summer time they redone the old ge building and riverfront also I know I missed alot of things I could go on and on and on

Fort Wayne also has a bunch of surrounding campgrounds in lakes eight awesome Cub Scouts and Boys and Girls Club and I appreciate you mentioned in the homeless I'm a homeless man that tries really really hard that does not have any drug addictions will take in urinalysis or blood test I go day-to-day from a motel to a 10 don't know when I'm going to be able to get on my feet I was very much love to get involved with somebody that's going to give back to the homeless and it sounds like you're interested please get back to me if there's anything I can do to give back I don't want anything for it
I appreciate your feedback @davidduane482! 💯
Would you mind if I was interviewed as a teen living/growing up here? It would be an honor

Just starting watching the video...coming from Minneapolis..if he says anything bad about the weather I will puke.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video.🥳
i was about set and then he said tornadoes
One of the commenters here said that tornados have been the very smallest kind. Like 0 to 1 (mildest) on the scale that goes up to very bad 5.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video.🥳
I emailed you and never got a full response back. :( I guess I’ll be going with someone else in the future.
Sorry I missed that! I just went through all of my inboxes and hopefully responded to your email. For quicker response feel free to text me at 260-633-4049
in all honestly they should of never made parkview field, the wizards stadium was better over near the coliseum, alread lost a few land marks due to roundabouts and othee bullshit they wanna do..
I get where you're coming from with the whole "diversity" thing in Fort Wayne. Thanks for taking the time to comment. 👍
Lived there for 4 years mostly south southeast still a good experience for me
