  • Another cave, a suspension bridge, racing the sunset on the Yellow Rock Trail and CCC history: there is more to discover at Devil's Den State Park!
In this video, we took the CCC Trail to see historic ruins left from the 1930s. I'll show you the cabins at Devil's Den, the suspension bridge, 2 camp areas and we'll discover another cave!
If only we could go in it...
White-Nose Syndrome in the bats. AH!
P.S. You'll love what I discovered about the CCC camp!
"An Arkansas icon, this special place nestled in Lee Creek Valley was selected as a state park site in the 1930s. The Civilian Conservation Corps used native materials to build the park’s rustic-style wood and stone structures that mirror the surrounding natural beauty. It now stands as one of the most intact CCC sites in the U.S." -AR State Parks
Remember, we stayed at the Beard and Lady Inn. It's the perfect place to stay and explore Devil's Den and Lake Fort Smith State Park.
Here's all the information you need about the historic Beard and Lady Inn:

About the Beard and Lady Inn:
“Built in 1887 by prominent business owner Jacob Yoes, The Beard and Lady Inn began as The Chester Inn: a hotel and dry goods store.” While doing research, I also learned that this building was once known as the “Col. Jacob Yoes Building.” -Beardandladyinn.com

We had a lot of fun! There's so much to see at Devil's Den. I've got my fingers crossed that they will open the caves again someday.

The interpretive trail is really cool I would love it if they restored a CCC camp to explore

You know, that is a great idea! I wish one of our parks would do that. It would be really neat to walk around one and get a feel for what it might have been like.

I drive through campsites when not camping as well. 😆

Oddly enough, shady campsites are a problem for me, since I have solar panels on top of my bus. I like a sunny spot, but that makes it tough to summer in places like Arkansas or Texas unless I can get some kind of AC set up in here.

That's understandable. We don't have solar panels. Someday!

@@AllAboutArkansasTravels I had a fancy camper parked next to me that used a real quiet generator. They ran it for only a few hours a day, presumably to charge their house batteries. The generator and fuel tank were mounted in the pickup bed, with a cord running to the trailer. And I could barely hear it. I like my solar panels, but that looked like a sweet setup to me.
