- Future Music got an exclusive in-room demo of the new Moog Sub Phatty. Hear the sounds, learn it's features and get a deep insight in to all of the sonic possibilities of the new Moog, including driving drums through the brand new multi-drive filter.
This is possibly the most well presented synth demo i've seen

Absolutely, he explains very clearly. But probably even more important.. regularly you see a glimpse of a smile that proves he really likes what he does. Those guys are the best. :)

you must have seen more awkwardness than this, or you haven't had much life experience. this is just a nerdy guy giving us a real indepth explanation of a Moog synth. I appreciate it very much.
Just ordered mine :)) to go with Analog 4, BassStation 2 and saving up for an Octatrack.

I think Amos was the chief engineer for this project. I have a lot of respect for him, the Sub Phatty proves that Moog is pushing their comfort zone and listening to the market base, while simultaneously maintaining Bob's vision and legacy.
No Kidding..this guy really knows his business and explains basic programming well
Great demo....that VCO Gate reset is very welcome indeed....no more phasing on bass.
This and the Arp filter Boomstar is gonna be heaven.

moog is one the most interesting instruments; with its classic look , with modern sounds.

I loved the presentation of the new Moog synth; great sound tweaks and explanations. However I find it very remarkable seeing some of the comments here: totally mean, ridiculous and absolutely pointless. What we have here is a monster Moog synthesizer, for the first time priced low enough for most halfway decent synth players actually being able to save up for it. Rather amazing indeed. Amos did a great job presenting the synth.
Great review looking forward to buying might wait to see if moog makes a sub phatty with out key rack mount !
The best way to learn all the definitions is to play around with different synthesizers. They may even be digital for this purpose. It will let you assign words to every sound.
I love the look of this guy, his so interesting to watch, his mannerisms are great! He could of walked straight out the Munsters lol.

Hands down to the engineer doing the demo of the instrument, but the sound could have been a lot better, I hear more tapping of the keys rather than the synth itself. Regardless, I'm sold and I want one!

I really want an MS-20 Mini but the sounds in this demo are just so rich that I am becoming very tempted by the Sub Phatty... oh if only I was rich!
this one's better in anyway,MS20 mini sounds bad,noisy,if you want always instant joy getbthe MOOG.You cant go wrong with that.
Does the Envelope Generator selection on the LFO section mean that the Envelope Generator repeats itself? Like the Trapezoid Generator on the VCS3?

Why/How is this cheaper than a little phatty?
Also, why are they pushing the DAW modulation capabilities when you can do this with all Moog synths that receive MIDI CC?

He's explaining the synth. This video isn't made to write you a song. It's made to explain how this particular synthesizer works.
My only question is. If I want to records the Sub Phatty and use midi notes from my DAW to trigger it, does it do that? Since it's midi in right?

Just curious,what would the Slim Phatty provide that this one doesn't? Seems like this would provide the equivalent of a LilPhatty and Minitaur.

Why do people keep comparing this to minibrute? This has two oscillators just for starters.
HI, I recently bought a SubPhatty and it generates a weird background annoying noise when I turn the master volume up. Should I ask for a replacement or can I get it fixed?

Is it me , or does hego et wola instead of Et Voiila ?
cheaper because less keys, no presets/screen. But i like it without the screen and less presets more. really, more than 20-30 just wouldn't be necessary. if you felt that way you could set them up as banks in a DAW and send the parameters back with midi for the extra presets. I'd honestly rather have this than my phatty.
Will the cv out mod be available for this synth?

man some of the diatribes are really lame. "the triangle is really smooth and non-fatiguing, that's why people like analog"--REALLY? wtf. anyway, the osc / lfo resets are really nice and well implemented. thumbs up for that.

cool, but ... OSCILLOSCOPE please ! It's audio frequency. even an ultra cheap one could do the job :)
the cheap one gets oscilloscope cause that must be a plus for people to buy it,when it comes to this Moog model it is all about the feel,the interaction between the player and the synth.
