Still Life is their crowning achievement. They opened with White Cluster on the Blackwater Park tour which was magic and then they closed with this song I believe a couple years later during the Damnation tour. Those were the best years.
Believe me when u know the story of this album and this song especially it will hit you harder Mikeal or the the character he played on this concept album when he returned to his village after 15 years from being exiled from it, he met melinda the girl he always loved and this track is talk about the meeting. The millow bluesy parts on the first half he was describing how beautiful she is and how he was exited to met her, then he noticed that her reaction was cold and she was a little bit scared of him so he was shocked and sad: "that hollow love in her face" Then in the half, the song start going darker and darker so what's happened? He found out that she was forced to join "The Council of The Cross" which is the cause of him being exiled for 15 years, at this moment the heavy riff hits and the song turns crazy. You guys really need to watch the live version of this song (2006) it was incredible 🔥🔥🖤
@@xavierdube6520 if you think this is true then why are the drums for the band completely different the album before Lopez and albums right after Lopez. Mikael even credits Lopez for the reason the band sounded more aggressive when he joined. Lopez style is Lopez. Mikael had the ideas but he allowed Lopez express in his way
@@wesleyb1458 Plus, Lopez brought some other weird world music into the studio and got Mike to listen to it, probably influenced his songwriting. From what I understand, Mike lays out the music and gives his drummers/bassist/lead guitarist measures to work their own little magic in. Its why you can tell an Axe drum pattern from a Lopez drum pattern in an instant---two completely different styles.
Still life is my favourite album of all the time, is so good that even Steven Wilson when he listened to it the first time, he couldn't believe it and he contacted Mikael straight away to let him know how fantastic was. And after that they started their cooperation. Now guys you just miss "Benighted", and the whole album will be done.
ha i literally blared this album at work earlier today 🥰, then followed it with the "design your universe" album by Epica, then some a7x, some blink 182 , Paramore , more random tunes lol
Guys you gotta check out Dream Theater more. A huge band for exploring as well as in terms of prog. Under a glass moon live score 2006 would be a solid choice.
You still have a few killer songs to do. I can't think of another band from Zep to Metallica to Tull to ...... has as many songs that hit it like Opeth!!
Still Life is a gem. A story that requires it to be played from end to end. Mikael is an amazing story/lyric writer.
Total agreement ❤
Like every song on Still Life, its a 10/10🙌❤🖤

Favorite album of all time. What a masterclass of songwriting..
Same. It’s a true work of art.
Seriously the run of Moonlapse Vertigo, Face of Melinda, and Serenity Painted Death has to be the best 3 song run ever produced
@@MegaMitchMan
The moor, godhead lamet, and benighted are an even stronger combo.
@@youreokayboah2128 I'm not a huge fan of Godheads Lament. It's a good song but I feel like it's not on the same level as the Moor and Benighted

thanks for describing what is exactly going on
Still Life is as close to perfection as you can get. Have listened to it weekly since it came out over 20 years ago.
Beautiful wife who enjoys Opeth, what more could you want
This is my favorite Opeth song ❤ 🎵
One of the best Opeth songs , from the best Opeth ❤record
Absolute belter from an absolute gem of an album. Great reaction as always
My boss has been recommending Opeth to me. So far I've liked what I've heard.
You have a nice boss!
Still Life is such an epic tale 🖤
It’s how he is playing the drums that makes the snare sound like that. Lopez ❤️
brushes
Still Life is probably my favorite Opeth album. My wife who doesn't care much for metal loves this song.
great reaction from a great song from a great album...
Great reaction from the both of ya🤘
Thanks man!
gorgeous song! .; )
Lopez is the best drummer of all time. You can actually feel the emotion in his drumming.
🔥🔥 Lopez is incredible
all the drums were written by Akerfelt, Lopez was good but he needed Mikael and it shows in his new band Soen, even if I truly love Soen

@@blppt yes! The Latin influence too. So good
Love that chord change before the ”refrain”. Now it’s time for you to hear ”windowpane” or ”To Rid the Disease” - or the whole Damnation album.
Probably Opeths best riff. So mesmerizing.
Amazing album ❤
The comments already spoke for themselvs, but holy moly Still Life just hits different
Make sure you're listening to the remastered album version. The whole album is a 10/10. ❤🔥🧯❤🔥🔥
Finally!! thanks guys!
I love that T shirt with the octopus on it
White Custler should be the next from Still Life, such a underrated song
They already reached to write cluster. Go check it out. It's so good. Which you already know.
This song has The Riff™️

I would be so thankful if you could try out "The Moor" from the Still Life record.
They did it already !
Definitely some jazz on there lol love it
Very cool, my friends. 🎶💫
You guys should DEFINITELY do Beneath the Mire. Such an underrated song.
This brutal song guys! Grande Opeth🤘🏼🔥
My promise is made but my heart is thine!
Kit was being played with brushes, and the bass was a fretless. Then it shifted to the typical metal style.
Good album 😊
A magnificent album from start to finish
You guys with the album cover 😂
@@SamuraiFTF amen
That would be cool to see you guys react to some Devildriver.. End of the line or Clouds over California, if you don't already know these of course.
Still Life is their best album
Gotta do Benighted
Black Rose immortal.... The Best the Best the Best.....
your hat is so cool
You gotta do Forest of October guys, you must
And still life is the only CD I can do shrooms on!!
Fretless Bass!
Now that you have completed the whole album, a full album live is in order
Wow a lot after track talking 😅 thanks you guys
Still waiting for Closure or Windowpane 😊
Do some gentle giant. In a glass house
Have you done anything from Damnation yet ? Highly recommended.
Still no Be’lakor. But I’ll wait. 🌀🌀🌀🧘🧘🧘
he's using a brush on the snare

This is good but I actually prefer the live "Roundhouse Tapes" performance of this song.
They used brushes in this one. Not normal drumsticks
Not my favourite album because of nostalgia, but I do agree it's their best album

Too bad Cash App is not available in France... wish I could tip you
If this is your gendre then you need to look up amorphis. Top finnish metal band....you will thank me later
Black rose immortal??? do it please
One of their more underrated songs I feel
Top three song by Opeth
1st?
2nd.
also 3rd.
4th :)
