@MobRacer22 These tires are custom cut to dig into the Tennessee dirt. They are a pretty agressive tire (modified TSLs if I am not mistaken). Between the high air pressure he has in the tire and the high RPM needed to spool the turbo, I think he is just spinning too much to grip.
Very cool, it sounded laggy on the spool up though, for a set up like that I suspect having it produce boost right off idle with max boost not much further from idle would be best.
@xnihpseht It is very possible that adjusting the air pressure could help drastically. The problem with going slow is that the turbo isn't spooling and giving him the power he needs to crawl. That is the big downside to a turbo buggy.
@nicholas5674 It all depends on how you want to make it. You can take the low-mid range revs to try and strategically crawl things or you can take a full on pedal to the metal approach and try to bounce up it.
@36doublebeadlocked I see, but you don't usually drive like 30 mph in this kind of situation. That's why we put small rims and huge tires :). I actually allows to lower the tire pressure much more than usually. But yes, you may be right - they rather try to sprint up, not to successfully crawl to the top :)
Was thinking "Diesel" at first, sounds like the old deuce "whistler" engine, then I saw the propane tanks (like); on to the low vs. high tire pressure debate, settled in my mind after the latest edition of Petersen's 4WOR, you press the go pedal, one of three things will happen: 1) you go forward, 2) you break traction (spin), 3) you break parts; I'd rather have my weak point at the tire contact patch 'cause I ain't got a lotta money to spare
@phin3s I'm confused by the sound .. coz it looks like it depends on turbo to really spin the tires, but it certainly don't have the idling sound of any diesel engine ..
@bldeagle10 You make a very valid point in the high end/low end needs. There are some jeeps that do make it and make it look pretty easy (I have another video as a matter of fact of a jeep with smaller tires etc just walking right up it). This is more of a thing to say "Hey, look what i have and you don't" in my opinion. Still an awesome buggy!
@MfalmeVTold sometimes when they hit stuff hard with low pressure the rocks pinch the tire to the inside of the rim and mess it up and pop the tire... thats one reason lol
Why don't you lower tire pressure? Is this the strategy for bouncing more? It actually doesn't help while offroading. I mean - in my understanding of offroading... But lower pressure should always be helpful on slippery surfaces.
do you launch a car on full revs? no, you do it somewhere at mids, you need traction. at high speeds, how the hell you gonna get traction? explain it to me.
Too much air in the tires! He should own that hill. Almost every time I've gotten into trouble, it's been too much air in the tires to grip. It's always obvious on the review! It is a sick buggy though.
@nicholas5674 Yes I can say rev. There are lots of factors that go into it, Angle, Terrain, Air pressure in tires, Type of tire etc. Sometimes, regardless of the angle of the incline and the terrain you might be able to crawl or sometimes you need the wheel speed and momentum. With that said....I am done stealing the thread. :)
I feel like he went about everything wrong, turbo=high end power, you want low end grunt when doing anything off road so a supercharger would be ideal, tire pressure is too high, I feel like I would have better luck with a stock jeep actually crawling up it rather than trying to make a stupid sprint up it...if you want to go fast, build a road car, if you want to climb stuff, take your time, but thats just all my own opinion I spose
@nicholas5674 ---- I don't have to look anything up to see that there ISN"T enough wheel speed... I'm not dissn the mans ride I LIKE IT,,, But ya ain't crawing that and it needs to be in a HIGHER GEAR.... Wheel speed and momentum rule on that hill ROCK ON
This is awesome! Looks like your having your cake and eating to by having all the fun and excitement!Keep up the good work!

The turbo spool up is kinda cool to listen to for sure..
@Tapage2 I agree. It definitely sounds different. I think the reason it sounds so different might be that it may be a 6 cylinder rather than a v8.
@Tapage2 Actually I am pretty sure it is a 6 cylinder gas motor because of the fact that it is running off liquid propane. Just a 6 cylinder turbo

Great vid!!!! Thanks for sendin it!!! Badass buggy fo sho!!!!

@tanner6112 From what I saw, it was a propane injected turbo motor.
great sound & great roll...
thats one badass rig !
@twiztid1fiddy Definitely. I love the way it sounds.
@cj15941 Don't have a clue on the amount of boost he is pushing but I have heard it is a 4.3 Vortec running propane and turbo.
Man that look like alot of fun.
@MichaelWVaught it mostly depends on the angle and how much grip your getting. now you can say rev!
if im not mistaken he is running a turbocharged 4.3L v6
@MfalmeVTold Everyone has their own feel for needing lower tire pressure, etc. I agree that a lower tire pressure in this situation would have helped.
Great Action Video ! thanks for sending and sharing. I subbed !
Nice!! Thanks for sharing!! Does sound Good!!

Awsome sounding spool up. Looked like a turtle on its back
Love the audio.
@chevey69 I agree, it sounds awesome!
SIIIIIIIIICK! I wonder how many PSI he's running?
@brandonbriggs I have no clue, it would be nice to know!
@nicholas5674 Were not talking about launching a car down a race track. This is offroad and on AXLE HILL at that. Completely different.
@scottsponaas It is! Huge adrenaline rush.
That thing is awesome!!!!
@MfalmeVTold sometimes when they hit stuff hard with low pressure the rocks pinch the tire to the inside of the rim and mess it up and pop the tire... thats one reason lol
Gah damn man! What kind of boost is that thing running? And what motor?
Why don't you lower tire pressure? Is this the strategy for bouncing more? It actually doesn't help while offroading. I mean - in my understanding of offroading... But lower pressure should always be helpful on slippery surfaces.
I wonder how he likes the turbo, and the lag, if there is any...?
Subscribed to you btw. Thanks for sending me this link.
@phin3s yea it is cool and I can appreciate the work put into it but I would use it for a totally different application
Turbo Buggy! Nice
epic roll's
sweet vid dude, subscribin to ya, thanks for sending
badass vid

@0xXAllForNothingXx0 I could believe that. It is what it looks like.
@A8vscRrabbit I really wish I know. I am trying to locate the owner to get this information from him.
Awesome!
That is firkin sick bro but I think it needs a more aggressive tire
cummins engine .?
Too much air in the tires! He should own that hill. Almost every time I've gotten into trouble, it's been too much air in the tires to grip. It's always obvious on the review!
It is a sick buggy though.
@phin3s
i believe hes got to much air in those tires for this type of DRY ass climb.
sick buggy but those turbos just don't have the snap a like a gas/propane buggy has. Great vid tho :)
Love the sound, but it'll do lots better in a higher gear. Not nearly enough wheel speed
propane turbo?
awesome

This thing sounds nasty

sounds like a jet engine lol
Speed push the traction button on the steering wheel.
yea bad ass i think u need better tires or biggier ones
cool shit bud
@phin3s PSI = all of them.
get bucket tires, then you'll be up in notime, just youtube torfæra, you'll see what i mean ;)
@chaddeyisabeast
me to
@nicholas5674 ---- I don't have to look anything up to see that there ISN"T enough wheel speed... I'm not dissn the mans ride I LIKE IT,,, But ya ain't crawing that and it needs to be in a HIGHER GEAR.... Wheel speed and momentum rule on that hill
ROCK ON
ha ha sounds like a DIESEL!
