Did find you have any flat spots through the revs. My only experience with K&N filters is years ago when I fitted them to a old school Honda cb900f,I was overtaking and the bike had a flat spot at 5000revs and I nearly shit myself
added the same filter to my honda 500 r. don't feel any power increasement,same loud as before only more pops from exhaust, much bigger throttle sound that's it.
...just got my K&N filter in the mail today. Now it's time to bring the laptop in the garage and do his install (I used Zsinor's video for install of Ebay shorty shift levers too).
the biggest difference I notice with my installed K&N airfilter IS the induction noise. I don't notice much of a horsepower increase (just better throttle response), but I do hear more air intake behind the gas tank, and it's very noticeable. I'm so glad I did this air filter upgrade.
I did this but I messed up and accidentally reversed the cables on the batterie and now the bike won't start the fuses are all good so what is it now ? I guess I blew something electrical but I don't know what
I have the same bike and from I read online, you don't have to re-tune your bike with these type of OEM upgrades. I put on a Corsa Leo Design slip on exhaust and I did the K&N air and oil filter (plus changed my shift/brake levers) and my bike runs better than it did when I bought it stock, with no tuning.
Nope...but just make sure you disconnect the battery...usually for around 45 min- 1hr to wipe the computer memory. ALOT of people forget this step when changing air filter and exhaust and wonder why nothing changed.
I didn't do this step of disconnecting my battery, but I will do it tonight and see if it makes a difference when I go riding again tomorrow. It will be perfect timing because I just got an LED headlight kit in the mail today, and I'll be installing that tonight too. Thanks for the advice.
Do let me know how she operates afterwards...be sure to give the bike a fairly spirited ride getting up to some higher speeds to allow the computer to perform it's adjustments with the new airflow.

The purpose of the air filter is to shield the engine from dust and debris in air and improve airflow. It is also designed to enhance acceleration and raise the horsepower of the motorcycle. You can hear how much faster it does "tuf tuf tuf" is on idle state without throttle at the end of video, meaning there is more air...but it is question will new filter stop dust from coming into engine, I did not saw any bolts screwing on new filter. Personally I would not change such critical parts for "improved acceleration".
So did you get the Honda CB500F? :) I bought mine about 3 months ago and I love it! Its a great first bike and easy to work on. I changed the oil, air filter, and clutch/brake levers completely by myself (well, with the help of TH-cam) and you won't disappointed with this bike if you don't need to go over 100mph.

I installed this filter today on my motorcycle and the biggest difference I can tell is the sound. You can actually hear the air being sucked in behind the gas tank now (where the air filter is). I notice a throttle respond increase but not so much of a horsepower increase. For only $44 bucks, it's well worth the upgrade and you will definitely understand why you should change the stock air filter after taking it out and looking at it (the stock filter is ugly, heavy, made of metal and filter's paper material is very basic).
Nate Ellenberger the paper material actually filters 10x better than the K&N, the metal screen is the backfire screen. You increased the air flow from the k&n and some cool intake noise which can sound nice but unless you don’t use an ECU and a full exhaust to complement the air filter you dont gain nothing in hp. Cool bike btw , the newer models are much better designed.

jaosn dfg I have a CBR500R exact same engines. if you just take that 90 degree bend snorkel off, you hear a big improvement. no extra power though.

Bloody hell I am one of those knobs that didn't know that. Now I know I'll do it when I install my K&N filter on my 2014 cb500f

Some say it does, some say it does not. All that matters is that your doing it yourself and so learning something new.
