before this first aired in the United States we knew Shannen had left, and that Rose was coming on as the long-lost sister and that she was half whitelighter. I just remember the fear that they were going to cancel it after Shannen left but the story lines feel natural, and Rose brought something different to the show. In March I got to meet and get a picture with Prue, Piper, Paige and a Selfie with Leo. It was the best day ever!!
17:17 basically they defend an area against evil (even go as far as destroy the evil considering how weak he was during this scene). If you remember back in season 1 this is what piper was afraid of, the gargoyles destroying her. Of course, she eventually proved that the gargoyles didn't stop and try to destroy her. This episode basically reinforces and advances that plot. NO SPOILERS: Prue's powers are classified as mind and movement and Paige's whitelighter side helps her substitute Prue's place in a unique way; so, it definitely operates a bit differently which is something I personally liked because each sister has their own unique way of using their powers. I won't mention it because you haven't gotten to that season yet, but I'll definitely comment about it once you have seen that season in particular (it's quite minimal and you won't really think much about it when watching this episode).
FYI: initially, the producers had considered separating from the character of Phoebe following tensions on the set. This is the sense of sacrifice that is asked of Phoebe at the end of season 3: she and Cole had to disappear from the series. Essentially for a "technical" reason: Alyssa Milano had signed a contract for three seasons, while Holly and Shannen had signed a contract for five seasons (for the record, Alyssa joined the series after the other two, since the pilot of the series had been filmed with another actress in the role of Phoebe, Lori Rom). Legally, it was easier to say goodbye to Phoebe. But ultimately, Shannen Doherty specifically asked to leave the series. In this case, we would certainly have Prue, Piper, and a Paige endowed with the power of premonition (perhaps the hybrid character of her power would have been preserved: for example, by having the ability to locate the innocent people of her premonitions).
Ok come sit down close and here's the tea 🍵. Alyssa Milano who was also a very successful actress before Charmed didn't really get along with Shannon and Shannon wasn't shy about her feelings towards Alyssa as well. Shannon and execs/producers were also at odds with some issues , hence the Immediate and unseen departure of the eldest Sister. This was an Aaron Spelling show just like 90210 where Shannon also made a sudden exit from the show after 4 seasons for similar reasons 🤔🤔🤭🤭🤭. Now, I'm not saying Shannon is a bad person or Trouble maker , what I actually believe is that she's Extremely Outspoken, Uncensored with her delivery and doesn't like that Fake Hollywood B.S. Game that she doesn't subscribe to. Which is an admirable and desirable trait to possess but seems to not be effective in Show Biz. Now as for pics of her or images, That's a No Go , i believe her riff with producers really pissed them off( even adults act like bratty Children at times).
Rewaching this reaction. Rest In Paradise Shannen Doherty 1971-2024 (Prue) That which belongs to fellowship and love. That which belongs to the circle, remains with us. The wheel turns. As life is a day, so our sister has passed into night. Nothing is final, and we who remain behind know that one day, we will once again share the bread and wine with our sister. O' blessed spirit, we bid you farewell, for you await a new destiny.
The no pictures is so disappointing but it’s because Shannen owns her image so if they showed photos of Prue, they’d have to pay Shannen and the producers didn’t want to do that ☹️
I recently found out that actually isn't true. They could've used anything that Shannen had filmed or photos taken for the show. Brad Kern was super pissed she left so he made sure not to include her image. He said they'd have to pay her a guest star fee as the reason he wouldn't have her image but he was just being petty.
@@deirdrestatham5730I think Brad only exaggerated the cost. He said all along that it would have been the full cost but actually it would only have been a far reduced price for her likehess. But no they certainly could not use Shannen's likeness without payment. At the end of the day she was fired from her contract and they rightly weren't giving her anymore cash.
US do time jumps between series all the time as often everything can change between seasons on US TV. Viewers even casual viewers would been well aware of Rose being cast as if was big news and she was a big star replacing another big star. Yes this Source isn't the most imaginative personifaction of the Source. Far better ones are ahead. "Prue's last act was saying the doctor...... who got murdered anyway". 😂😂😂
@@BernardJKD Brad Kern himself said in an interview he had been told it would cost a full episode fee but insists he found out only after the show ended they could've used a photo or clips. Considering he had been a writer and producer for years his excuse sounds like hogwash. She couldn't have her likeness used in the comics or later toys because those would've been covered by a completely different contract. She had already signed the one for the show originally.
@@deirdrestatham5730 Apparently, the people from the WB channel were the ones who were very upset with her and didn't want them to show her in the series again.
I've always wondered: should we consider that Paige is born telekinetic? I suppose so. She is a daughter of Patty, a witch born therefore with a Warren power. A power made hybrid by her whitelighter blood. But what if Paige had another power at birth? What if she had inherited the power to freeze, the power of premonition, or an elemental power like the two cousins from the past? Could she have restored the Power of Three when Prue died without the power of telekinesis? Or would she have acquired this power to magically complete the triangle? In the latter case, I think she would have acquired regular telekinesis. In fact, that she has a completely hybrid power is undoubtedly proof that this gift is natural to her, and by birth.
@@BernardJKD I suppose, but it's not certain. Piper's statement makes me doubt. Above all, the series has always been clear on this subject: the charmed ones are the charmed ones because 1/ they are Warren witches 3/ they are related by blood as three sisters 3/ each of them has one of the three powers of Melinda Warren.
All your theory is doing is taking agency away from Paige as a witch. That is not a thIng in the show where all 4 sisters are as powerful as witches as each other. Where their power originates or resides isn't a part of the shows lore especially.
@@BernardJKD No no, there is a misunderstanding: I am not depriving Paige of her witch powers. On the contrary. I'm guessing she was born with the power of orbing telekinesis. For the rest, I agree: it is also established in the series that the power of three lies in the emotional bonds which unite the three sisters.
I consider her to be more of a "one time imitator" of sorts, basically developing the same power of the one who is missing in the group. I call her that because had it been Piper, Paige would have gotten the power to freeze but it would have been a hybrid version because of her whitelighter side. Same thing with Phoebe; she likely would have orbed into the premonition, or be able to actually see the location of the vision in a much more vivid way. WARNING SLIGHT SPOILER: Season 6 gives us a glimpse of how Paige's powers would have worked had she replaced Piper's position in the power of three, instead of Prue (episode 3 of this season is where the glimpse is shown). Ironically in her past life she did possess both an elemental and a telekinetic power. AGAIN SLIGHT SPOILER: Season 7 we see that Paige can do basic telekinesis, so it is suggested that she could one day develop regular telekinesis. In this episode she orbs the mirror without the orb effect for the first time (something she does again later on). So it is suggested that she'd develop a hybrid version and the standard version, or learn how to do the standard version without the orb effect.
I am so surprised by your ranking of the sisters. I never would have guessed that Prue was your "least favourite". For me it was Prue then a tie between Piper and Phoebe during the Prue years so her death was a huge loss for me. I didn't even know about her when I first discovered the show during its 6th season and I ended up connecting with her so much lol. Six-year-old me probably wouldn't have liked her though lol. For the show overall, it's really close between Piper and Prue as my favourite which is also a little funny because Piper was my least favourite back then.
@@calvinkhumalo9780 Haha, Prue has risen quite a bit since I started editing these seasons. I miss her presence quite a bit. My opinions on one or more of the others change too as we go on. 😅
