  • Hey everyone how are you all? Now after last weeks small addition to the stack i thought i best just step it up a bit for todays melt. I saw a huge stadium light at the scrap yard and just had to melt it. 46 Kgs it came in at and i ended up getting over 15kgs of pure Aluminum/Copper from it. A huge addition to the stack and another step closer to my 1 tonne goal. Now todays is a super long vid so sit back put your feet up and enjoy and above all have a happy same Christmas break wherever you are in the world.

    HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
    I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

I have to say I admire you, there are so many TH-camrs out there making fun of scaring, torturing, and killing spiders. Seeing you free them and even blowing in plastic tubes to make sure they're not inside really makes my day. So in the name of the spiders, thank you 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

      absolutely true, they will zap you real good if you're not careful. Also, these are dry film capacitors specifically, they most likely don't contain a lot of metal (it's foil with a very thin metal coating on it, much like how some food packages have shiny coatings on the inside).

      normally with the aluminium it will freeze after about 10 or 20 seconds but once the mold becomes superheated it can take two or three minutes sometimes longer for it to solidify👍🏻. copper normally takes only seconds as as well as brass and bronze ,aluminium bronze etc but this can stretch out a little bit longer if the mold becomes superheated as well.

    • @God_Yeeter
      @God_Yeeter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigstackD I believe the aluminum solidifies slower because it has a (relatively) much lower melting point and can therefore be heated to a higher temperature above it’s melting point

      I think he does motors more often because the casings are thinner and easier to break down. It would take him FOREVER to break down an engine into bits small enough to fit in his crucibles because an engine is solid and sometimes multiple inches thick in some places. The cost of using saw blades to cut through it would be high, too. I'm sure he would if he had a bigger forge, though!😎🤙
