    Thanks for the video. As a beginner I don't have many tools so a lot of the videos on TH-cam aren't that helpful. A chisel and a sander I do have!

      Yes! You don't need fancy tools to make beautiful things. Having the basics just makes you more creative!

    Thanks for the video. I have found a couple of good sources for planed, kiln dried slabs on eBay. I obtained nice walnut slabs for a 50" x (about) 25" coffee table and an end table (22" x 19") for about $200 including shipping.

    Beautiful piece and just what the wife would like. Anyone have a link/source for the walnut they could share?

      You can try Rockler or Woodcraft, they often have slabs like this if you don't have a local lumber shop near you. Sometimes you can find some on facebook marketplace, but just make sure to find out whether it was dried or not. Hope that helps!

    Can coating the timber in just the danish oil be enough or is the polyurethane a must ? . Thank you.

      Hey Justin, danish oil does have some varnish in it but won’t hold up great on its own on a heavily used piece. It would be sufficient for something like a frame or something that won’t get handled frequently.

    What color Watco Danish Oil did you use here? Looks great.

      Hey there! we used the Medium color because we didn't want to take away from the contrast of the sapwood!

    Do you put the oil and polyurethane on the bottom and sides as well?

    • @fourriversstudio
      @fourriversstudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. Typically when you finish a piece on one side with something, you want to do the same thing to the other side. This prevents the top and bottom side from moving at different rates and potentially warping in the future as it expands and contacts

    What grit do you use on the polyurethane ?
